"Why did you slap me?" I asked, staring at Miss Tanya.
"Because you're ruining my child's life!" she said. Her forehead creased as if she realized something, "why weren't you surprised? You knew?"
I knew that Clarissa was her daughter? I grinned.
"I know all your secrets that could ruin your child," I said, surprising her.
Her eyes widened suddenly.
"The next time you lay a hand on me again, I'll retaliate. There's probably no greater pain than seeing your child pay the price," I warned.
"Try me!"
"I will definitely try. I'm not afraid of you, Tanya. Because I know you were behind the chairman's threat to me before. Just pray I don't lose my temper, or I might report you to the chairman," I said, turning away to leave.
Her slap hurt, but I was seething with anger at everything she had done just to separate me from Rod.
I went to the mall first to freshen up. I couldn't let the kids see the swelling on my cheek. They'd wonder, so I bought some foundation to cover it up.
