Arianna nodded, and Selene stepped out of Eryndor’s protection, dropped her lamp to the floor, and began hurling fireballs at the Lycans, pushing them back.
They shot arrows at her, but Eryndor protected its master while Arianna secretly climbed onto its back, still channeling energy to her stomach.
Valoreth’s jaw clenched at the sight. Without warning, he shifted into his half-form and launched toward Arianna, but she saw it coming.
With a scream, she shot fire at him, the attack fueled by her anger and pain. It struck Valoreth, sending him crashing down. The mage quickly extinguished the flames with magic but didn't use it to stop Arianna.
“Go now!” Selene shouted. Eryndor cast a worried glance at its master.
Understanding, tears fell from Selene’s eyes. She reached out and touched its beak.
“I love you, Eryn,” she whispered. The beast screeched softly in return. “Take her far from here at all costs. Fly with the greatest speed. This might be the end for us.”
