Alessia

The Alpha request your presence lady Alessia".

I roll my eyes. "Guess he couldn't wait to enslave me!" As if reading my thoughts, Mel burst into a laughter, loud and throaty, at the sight of the dress. "You're serving Alpha Derek?!"

"Haha!" I say, as I slide into the drab and distasteful uniform he gave me.

"I'm so sorry Lessia. I really didn't mean to laugh. But I thought Darren said you were the Alpha's guest?" she asks, trying unsuccessfully very hard to maintain a serious look.

"I'm suppose to be a guest. But it seems your Alpha has a kink in enslaving the vulnerable". I reply pouting my lips, while making an innocent face.

Mel burst into another bout of laughter.

"You my dear Lessia, look far from being vulnerable. You should see your face when you attacked me earlier, you almost scared my wolf out of me. You're very Feisty!"

"Am I?" I ask, maintaining the playfully innocent look.

"Royal Feistiness! Runs in the blood? Maybe you took that part of your dad as the Alpha?"

"Nah. I was told it was my mum". I laugh, struggling to zip up my dress.

"Wow! I guess all mum are the same. You should meet my mum sometime. I can arrange that when you are free. She's the pack Whisperer, if you get lucky enough she can read your moon". Mel says, smiling, as she helps me zip up.

"You mean your mum is the great Marlene! The greatest Whisperer of Selene?"

"You got it right girl..!" snapping her hand and pointing it simultaneously at me for precision.

"I can't wait to meet her and hear her predictions. Rumor has it that she's a reincarnation of the Great Whisperer, who can listen to the whispers of the moon".

"Sure, she is. Historically, Yes."

"You are the Whisperer in training then. To keep the balance after her."

"Not at all. I'm a Sentinel. I train and lead the warriors. I can't imagine spending my days communicating with the moon and ancestors, it sound boring." She says, giving a short laughter.

I like her. Mel, a woman that knows what she wants and does it.

Snapping back to consciousness, I realize I am breaking his first rule. Never to keep an Alpha waiting. His tongue-lashing is the last thing I need right now.

"Oh my goodness! That Alpha!! I must go Mel".

"That Alpha?!" Mel repeats, amuse. "You both started on a bad note I guess".

But I am already at the door when I heard that.

"See you soon Mel,"I wave.

"You too Lessia! And you can come by at noon to see us train for the Alpha's procession too". She shouts after me.

"Sure! I reply, running down the hallway.

*******************

"You are late!" he snap.

He is standing in front of his desk when I arrive, leaning back on his desk, his hands folding right in front of his chest. Looking at his wristwatch.

"I'm sorry. It isn't intentional." I apologize, though deep inside me, I am so glad I came late.

"Let me bite off his head!" Kaya suggests to me with a low angry growl.

"No Kaya. You absolutely should not."

I am trying to keep her in check. Kaya presence and strength is much more immense then my physical strength which makes it sometimes difficult to control her. Gratefully, she always listens to me.

"Did you just growl at me?" He asks, staring straight at me with a frown.

That is when I realize I am growling right at him.

"Kaya! C'mon stop making this worse for me!"

"You do realize that I am the Alpha? And I hold authority over everything..."

"Within your pack..." I mutter out aloud.

"What did you just say?" he asks, as if to make sure he heard me right.

"I acknowledge you hold authority over everything within your pack and not some other wolf's".

"That's right! I hold authority over everything in my pack and my territory. And you Omega, are in my territory! My space!! So you are under obligation to respect MY authority!

I grit my teeth together to keep the lid over my bottled anger.

"Did he just call me Omega again?!" That arrogant piece of shit!"

"Do you hear me Omega? As long as you are in my pack, you're under my supervision and authority!"

With that tone of finality, he walk back to his desk. Sitting down behind that Mahogany desk, I couldn't help admire the aura around him, his scent is; Strong, Intense, Domineering, and powerfully. But there is this scent that cling on to him since our very first meeting that I still can't figure out. It's not repulsive neither is it appealing at least not yet, it is just there around him, untamed.

"You look good in that uniform by the way."

"Is he mocking me?! Look good in this drab dress?! Even an average household servant wouldn't be given this to wear. That prick!"

"Thank you," I reply. "I must also admit that your sense of fashion is out of this world too, Alpha. It show you seem very capable of handling centuries old resources!" I add with a hint of mockery.

I hear a suppress laughter behind me, which we both turn around to see. MEL...!

"You call for me Alpha!" Mel says.

"When did you get here?" He asks, dimming his eyes curiously.

"Not quite long ago," she reply.

"Mel were you eavesdropping again?" he asks.

"Ohh...! C'mon Derek, why would I? I knocked, but it seems you both were engross in your conversation and I came in to see if everything is alright". She reply defensively, smiling and giving me a side glance, she add to emotionally blackmail him. "You and Darren sure have a way of treating me!"...

The conversation goes on and on and for a moment I went into extinction.

"Derek! I heard that name somewhere!" I thought.

Just then, I hear my uncle's voice reverberate in my head. "Derek should consider himself lucky!"

Yes! That is were I heard his name. That is my arranged marriage husband's name. The Alpha of the so-called strong pack, my uncle had barged about making alliance with. But I had sulked for weeks not bothering to ask, The Alpha of which Pack, my so-called Derek is...! And now I'm faced with an annoying-as-shit Alpha, bearing the same name as him.

"You sure have a thing with Dereks, Alessia!" I mumbled to myself. Dereks are Dicks!  I exhale.

"That reminds me Derek, I over-heard my mum asking you to accept the alliance with Alpha Dani....."

"Ouch...!" she yelp.

He step on her toes. I see that clearly. But why?

"Alpha who?" I ask.

"What?" Mel asks, directing her gaze at me before redirecting back to the Alpha meeting his stern cold stare.

"You said something about an Alpha?"

"Lessia I am talking about the Alpha's dinner after the procession", Mel answer me, nodding repeatedly as if to convince herself of what she had say.

"Oh. Okay." I reply, even though I thought I heard her say 'Dani...' should be Daniel, maybe I'm just hearing things.

"I need a cup of hot coffee. Don't make it too bland or too sweet". The Alpha requests, breaking my thoughts.

I nod, leaving the room.

I return few minute later, and Mel is gone and the Alpha is going through official documents as usual.

"Here is the coffee," I say, as I drop it on the available empty space on the table.

He pick it up, not sparing me a look, nor a thank you and just sip. I roll my eyes.

"What the hell is this?! This is too sweet!" he snap, banging his fist on the table.

I flinch at the suddenness of his outburst, and before I could open my mouth to speak, he continues:

"I made my self clear earlier, Not bland not sweet. You have 10 minutes to make another", he snap again, flipping to the next page of the document.

I bite my lower lip to keep myself in check.

"Authoritarian Bastard!"

I fume out to the coffee station.

"Here is it". I announce few minutes later as I drop the freshly brew coffee again, on the table. And watch him take a sip again, praying fervently to Selene, that I get it right.

"Too bland! Can't you do anything right Omega?!"

Piss, I retort. "Of course I can if you show me how it's done my dear Alpha!" my tone lace with sarcasm.

I am not just going to let myself be walk all over.

"You're useless! Make yourself useful and learn how to get things done and you....."

He's word rail off my hearing. Kaya is sniffing and she's unsettle. A swiff of a weird and unpleasant yet familiar scent sweep through my nose. A smell of misery and .....

"Ohh No..!"

BLOOD!

"Someone's

dying!" I exclaim. Looking out through the window.

"What?" The Alpha exclaim, taken aback.

"Someone's dying at the Eastern border! Send warriors now!!

About the fact that something ancient just slipped through our fingers - and Alessia let it.Alessia doesn't flinch."Because she needed it," she says, steady. Maybe, I am reluctant, seeing Ryel's most favored wolf on the table. Raven. But I peel forward, ignoring the weight in my chest. Her skin still hums faintly with energy. The book... gods, that book. It's clutched to her chest like a lifeline, like a promise she made to herself long before tonight. And I recognize the look in Alessia's eyes - curiosity and unease clashing like fire and frost.Derek glares at me, his voice cold. "What the hell do you mean, too late?"I don't answer him right away. Instead, I walk slowly towards the table to examine Raven's body.
