John: I was supposed to be the Alpha. I was supposed to find my mate first. How did my life come to this? A mateless 33-year-old virgin, okay, that part is my choice, helping plan my little brother"s wedding. And if that's not bad enough, I think my wolf has lost his mind or sense of smell. There's no way this human florist is my mate. Sarael: Being a small business owner is never easy, even less when you're a woman of color. But I love my little flower shop. I love it because it's half a world away from my family. I've lived relatively peacefully till John Kinsley of THE Kinsleys walked into my store. The man is by far the sexiest man I've ever seen. But he's also driving me crazy with this hot and cold attitude. This is a sequel to Alpha Logan. You do not need to have read Alpha Logan to enjoy this book, but it is encouraged. View MoreâRemind me again why Iâm going to your appointment with the florist? And also remind me why you arenât just going through one of the florists we have within the pack?â I sighed as I followed my GPS to Flowers of the Nile in Eugene, Oregon. âBecause Aurelia hasnât been feeling well, and I finally talked her stubborn ass into going to see the doctor. But we canât cancel or reschedule if we want to have the flowers for the wedding.â my brother sighed over the car Bluetooth.
âOkay, I get that. And Iâm glad sheâs finally going to the doctor. Though honestly, Iâm with Sybille. They are just going to tell you that itâs morning sickness, and you have a pup on the way.â I rolled my eyes. âGuess weâll see. Sheâs pretty sure itâs just from Hanaâs undercooked brownies.â Logan answered.
âYeah, sure. Then why arenât the rest of us throwing up daily? We all ate that. I love your daughter, but Iâm not eating anything she makes ever again.â I chuckled, remembering the âlava browniesâ my niece made. Sheâs twelve and adorable, but I fear for the man she ends up marrying. I hope he can cook because sheâs as useful in the kitchen as Logan.
âYeah yeah. Just handle the flowers. You have the binder that details what Aurelia wants.â Logan sighed, and I could hear him rolling his eyes. âYes, Iâve got it. You know you can depend on me. You still didnât explain why we are going outside the pack for the floral arrangements. The arrangements that Andrea made for the Luna ceremony last year were lovely.â I said, taking another turn.
âBecause the wedding is for Aureliaâs human family more than anything. I could go to city hall and have it done as far as the government is concerned. And since we are mated, and sheâs already my Luna, the pack sees us as married.â Logan explained. âStill doesnât answer my question, little brother.â I pointed out. âShe wants to give business to local businesses in the area sheâs from. And itâs not like the flowers are the only thing we are sourcing from outside the pack. Everything is from outside the pack.â he sighed.
âIs John bitching that we are supporting my hometownâs local business?â Aurelia growls. I hear the clatter of the phone being snatched from my brother. âHello, Aurelia. Whoâs my favorite pregnant Luna?â I smiled. âIâm not fucking pregnant, John. Donât fucking jinx me. And stop bitching that we are supporting my townâs local businesses. Now handle the flowers. I agreed to this stupid doctorâs appointment, and we need to go before weâre late.â she grumbled, hanging up on me.
I laughed, shaking my head. âOh, sheâs so pregnant.â Irving snickered. âOh yes. The pregnancy hormones are in full swing.â I agree with my wolf. I sighed, frowningâjust another thing my brother is doing before me. Iâm older by three years. I was raised to take the role of Alpha, but then my first shift happened, and Irving wasnât the bloodmoon wolf.
In an instant, all Iâd worked for went poof, and fatherâs attention shifted to Logan rushing to prepare him in hopes he would have the bloodmoon wolf. I donât know what weâd have done if neither of us did. But Jericho is the bloodmoon wolf, so Logan became our Alpha, and because I was already trained to run the pack, I was named his Beta. And Iâve been supporting my brother in all things ever since.
And now heâs not only found his mate before me, but heâs going to have a pup. Perhaps Iâm just meant to be the bachelor Kinsley brother. Forever the uncle and never the father. âStop thinking like that.â Irving scolded me. âSorry, canât help it. Even you have to wonder if maybe our mate died before we could meet her. And we both know itâs rare to have a second chance.â I shrugged.
âI refuse to believe sheâs dead. Like your brother, I believe our mate was just too young for us to find. We should go to the next gathering.â Irving shook his head. âEver the optimist.â I sighed. I donât want to go to gatherings to seek out a mate. I just have this feeling it will be the same as always: many beautiful females but none of them mine. And I refuse to take anyone that isnât my mate to my bed. This resulted in people like to call me the Virgin Beta, at least when they donât think I can hear them.
âIn one hundred yards, your destination will be on the right.â my GPS informs me. I watch the storefronts on my right for a place to park and stop one literally in front of the florist. A golden awning hung outside with the shopâs name âFlowers of the Nileâ in a cursive font painted in blue. The large windows offered plenty of light to the shop, filled with flowers in various species and a spectrum of colors.
I sighed, pocketing my phone, grabbing the folder from the passenger seat before getting out. I took a breath and prepared my susceptible nose for the pending burst of floral scents as I pushed the door open. A little bell above jingled announcing me. I wiggled my nose, trying to control my heightened sense of smell as all the aromas hit me.
As I slowly made my way through to the counter, a scent that is not floral hit me. It was everywhere and was making me start to salivate. The delicious aroma of dark chocolate and strawberries was making me dizzy as it overpowered all the flowers. âMATE!!â Irving shouted as he jumped around in my head like a puppy wagging his tail in excitement.
âWhat?!â I exclaimed. âSheâs here! Her scent is everywhere! She must work here!â Irving answered, more excited than even the day we first shifted and finally met. He is forever the optimist. Knowing my luck, she was a customer who wandered around and is already gone. âShut up, pessimist. Find our mate.â Irving growled.
âHello, welcome to Flowers of the Niles. Iâm Becky. How may I help you?â a pretty blonde greeted me as she popped up out of nowhere. Or maybe it only feels like she came out of nowhere because I was so engrossed by the scent. I managed to focus on the girl and smiled. Sheâs attractive with long blonde hair in a high ponytail, bright blue eyes, a little simple on her right cheek as she smiles at me. But sheâs not the source of the scent, and all interest dies.
âGood afternoon, Miss.â I nodded in greeting. âI am here for an appointment with Miss Adio for the Christian wedding.â I explained. For every vendor we were using outside the pack, we used Aureliaâs family name. The last thing we wanted was to draw attention by using our name. We are just as well known for our company outside the werewolf community, and I donât feel like getting price gouged.
âOh⌠right. Well, let me get her.â Becky smiled, eyeing me, licking her lips like Iâm dinner and sheâs starving. âThank you.â I nodded, looking away, wandering to look at some flowers to show I had no interest. I heard her open a door behind the counter to call out to someone elseâthe joys of heightened hearing.
âSarael! There is a fucking gorgeous guy out there looking for you. Apparently has an appointment for the Christian wedding.â Becky gushed. âBecky, if heâs here about a wedding, heâs most likely the groom, so maybe you shouldnât be commenting on his looks.â a soothing voice answered with a soft Arabic accent. âItâs not like he can hear me? And if he is the groom, it just shows all the good-looking ones are taken. But if he isnât, I call dibs.â Becky laughed, the laugh a little shrill, making me wince.
âSure, Becky. If heâs not the groom, heâs all yours.â the woman, Sarael, answered. âAhem. Mister Christian?â that same voice called out to me. I turned and blinked as my eyes connected with hers. Sarael is gorgeous with bronze skin, with thick dark chocolate brown hair swept up into a low side ponytail with strands of the soft curls framing her heart-shaped face. Her mocha eyes blinked at me under thick lashes as her lips parted with a greeting that seemed to die at the tip of her tongue.
âMATE!!!!!!â Irving screamed as he pinpointed the scent was coming from her. I furrowed my brow because while yes, the scent is obviously coming from her, sheâs also human. I see no wolf in her eyes, nor do I pick up the underlying scent of werewolf. And the chances of a human being mated to one of my kind is one in a million. âUm⌠is there something wrong, Mister Christian?â she asked, licking her lips, and I realized Iâve been silent.
âYes and no.â I answered. âWay to be vague, John. So articulate of you. Canât spare more words and eloquence for our mate?â Irving rolled his eyes. He apparently doesnât care that sheâs human. âUm, in what way?â she furrowed her brow. Fuck, even the little wrinkles that formed on her brow were cute. âWell, Iâm not Mister Christian. My soon-to-be sister made the appointment. Christian is her maiden name. Iâm John.â I explained, offering my hand.
âOh.â she laughed a little, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. I need to get out of here. This is such a bad idea. Iâm going to kill my brother for making me do this. He should have sent Sybille. âMy apologies. Nice to meet you, John. Iâm Sarael. I had expected to be meeting with the bride and groom today.â she apologized, shaking my hand.
The moment our hands connected, I felt the shock wave of the mate bond Iâve only heard about run through my fingers, palm, and straight through my arm, hitting me straight in the heart. I wasn't sure if humans feel the mate bond like werewolves, but she must have felt something as she quickly pulled away and looked at her hand. âSorry about that. Static.â she shrugged.
We managed to have everything ready just after sunset. Even having a couple dozen people helping me and following my instructions to the letter took hours to prepare everything. I would have preferred that we had started sooner, but at least the full moon rising means I can bring Nova forward when I need her. I bet Hizkiah wonât expect that, not that heâd expect to cross paths with me after all these years. Each team had at least twelve members that werenât going to shit until necessary to handle the holy water. I was, of course, one of the twelve in our group. I wish Iâd had more time before we left Bloodmoon to prepare. While I know, I can shift to Nova. Iâd still feel better going into this if I had my hunter weapons. Iâll have to make do. âYou two arenât going in as your wolves?â I raised my eyebrow as I handed the belladonna necklaces and holy water balloons to Crista and Alec. âYour mate requested we make an entrance.â Alec shrugged. âI feel arriving as myself will have the de
As much as Iâd prefer to spend the rest of this trip in our room making love, we had urgent business to address. I intend to fulfill my promise to her. Once those children are safe, I am giving her the romantic getaway she deserves. It may not be the Maldives, but I will find a way to make arrangements in Paris for us. Including a shopping trip since we didnât pack for the cold winter weather of Paris. We were the last to arrive at Sylvesterâs office. It was a bit cramped with so many of us, but I suppose there isnât another room in the château that would offer us the necessary privacy for this conversation. As we stepped into the office, I gave a curt nod to him and his ranked wolves. I noticed Warren and Ben stifle a snicker as they looked at mine and Saraelâs wet hair. A glare in their direction quickly shut up the Gamma guards. âPardon our lateness. It has been a long day and will continue to be a long night. So we took the opportunity to wash up.â I explained as I stepped next
Since I realized Hizkiah was back and part of this, Iâve felt numb. I nearly died the last time I faced him. I donât want to do that again. I canât simply put myself in that situation again. I have children that need me. Farah and Amal are too young to lose me. I canât let them grow up without me. âWill you stop your pessimistic bullshit? We arenât going to die. You fought the asshole when you were fifteen. Youâre older and wiser, and you have me this time. Not to mention there is no way John and Irving would let us die. So remember, you arenât fighting this demon alone.â Nova scolded me. âSo get out of your head. You may be keeping your thoughts from them, but they are still picking up on you being out of sorts. They are worried. I mean, look at John.â Nova encouraged me. I turned my head and watched as John leaned into the shower and turned the water on. Nothing seemed off at first. Then when he looked back at me, I could see it. I could see the worry in his eyes and felt it in o
The elders left a piss poor impression on me. I prefer not to judge people sight unseen, but from what Iâve heard of the Monastery and the elders, I already had a low opinion of them. Itâs probably best that Bloodmoon doesnât participate in their Alpha training. Iâd have been kicked out when I shifted and didnât have the Alpha wolf, and I canât see Logan doing well in that environment. âIf Logan and Jericho had been forced to attend that training, the Monastery would be rubble and every elder dead.â Irving scoffed. It does make me wonder why Alec never destroyed the place. If the rumors of how poor Alecâs time there was, I wouldnât blame him if he had. Before finding his mate, Alecâs wolf reigned supreme in his body and became notorious for a reason. I suppose he never saw the need to return after taking control of Incubi. My threat will not be idle if they have had a hand in these disappearances. I will call Alec and let him bring destruction to them. Weâd been back at the pack ho
I canât shake this unsettled feeling Iâve had since Logan first told us to report to his office. Nova thinks Iâm just a pessimist and that nothing as dangerous or nefarious as I believe is going on. She can call me a pessimist all she wants, but my gut tells me Iâm not going to like what we find here. And if all these signs werenât weird enough, I have four ranked males bowing to ME! What the FUCK? Why are they bowing to me? The hairs on the back of my neck stood on edge as that unsettling feeling was back in full force. âWhy are you doing that? An Alpha doesnât show that kind of respect to anyone but perhaps a fellow Alpha. Iâm not Alpha. Hell, Iâm barely classified as a werewolf.â I questioned, stroking Shuâs fur. He was relaxed, or as relaxed as heâs learned to be around werewolves he doesnât think of as a threat, which is a good sign. It means he doesnât suspect any of the ranked wolves of having a hand in all this. I hate if anyone from within this pack had a hand in it. Not t
So much has happened in the four years weâve been together. Sarael lost her sister, became a new moon wolf and pack Beta, had our daughter, got married, had our son, and then dealt with the chaos of Silvercloud finding his mate. If anyone deserves a romantic getaway, it is my love. I have been planning this since Amal was born. Nothing will stop us from jetting off to the Maldives for a week away. The kids are safe with my brother and his family. Everything at Saraelâs shop is under control, and I know Kinsley Industrial will run smoothly while Iâm away. I was loading our bags into the car when Loganâs voice forced its way into my mind. âReport immediately to my office.â His command was undeniable and worrying. âJohn? Why did your brother summon me to his office? Is this a joke? He knows we are leaving.â Sarael frowned as she folded her arms. âI am unsure what happened. It must be important. Logan knows we are leaving.â I furrowed my brow as I contemplated why he would call for us

Upon arriving at the Paris pack, it becomes clear why they were requested over Sylvesterâs sister Sybille and her mate Gamma Charles. I knew that having my mate at my side would complete me. That the emptiness I had felt would fade away because she would fill the void. And I know I had been apprehensive, at best, when I met Sarael in her flower shop. The idea of a human mate terrified me. I didnât want to put her in danger, but I quickly realized I couldnât live without her. The day she agreed to be with me, to me marking her, had been the happiest of my life. But then that was overshadowed three months ago when she agreed to marry me. I knew her style didnât usually lean to the side of bling, and she might have preferred a simplier ring. But I risked it and gave my motherâs ring. And if the fact three months later, I still sometimes catch her staring at it is an indication I made the right choice. Despite that, itâs a longer drive to her shop we have settled into our new life living together. I no longer survive on what clothes I could fit into the two provided drawers at her house. We have a massive shared walk-
In the two months since the new moon, life has become what I will call the new normal. John spends most nights at my house though sometimes we stay at the packhouse, usually on full moons when we join the pack for the run. Since that first full moon when I officially became Beta, the pack has treated me with respect. I think that fight certainly did the trick. Weâve settled into a routine regarding doing our day jobs as well as handling pack business. Aurelia has been more than happy to loop me into all she and Sybille have been working on. And I donât mind taking on extra work to give her free time. Sheâs growing another life. She should be taking it easy. Not having to get all worked up dealing with bigoted ass-munching, her word, old wolves to improve the quality of life and especially the education system of the pack. Since she had a doctorâs appointment, I took over during the last meeting with the Sub Betas and School Board. To say they were not p
