“Are you and Lucas together?” Charlotte asked Kayla as they had their lunch in the cafeteria
Kayla froze. Charlotte had caught her staring at Lucas again. That must be why she asked.
“ No, why?” Kayla asked, trying to act surprised
“Ava saw you leaving in his car the other day,” Charlotte said. Kayla glanced at Ava, and Ava winked at her.
She was torn on what to say. She didn't like that she couldn't be with Lucas without feeling like she was betraying her friends. She really likes him. Why couldn't they just be happy for her? She felt like telling Ava to mind her business, or taking her tray and walking away, but she knew they would be overdramatic.
“Well, we're not like dating, or anything like that,” she said
“Well, are you guys banging?” Ava asked”
Kayla's jaw dropped. She didn't expect Ava to be so blunt and so invasive into her life. What have these girls been talking about behind her back?
Kayla was lost for words, so she picked up her bottle of juice and took a sip.
