Luna's Reckoning
I was the Luna of Moonridge Pack. The smartest wolf they had. Every battle we won, every strategy that made us powerful, that was me. My brain, my plans, my ideas.
But nobody knew.
My mate, Alpha Kael, he took everything I created and told everyone it was his. He treated me like dirt. Had a girlfriend everyone knew about. Hurt me when nobody was looking.
For six whole years I survived this. The mate bond made it impossible to leave. Or so I thought.
Then his girlfriend got pregnant. With the baby I could never give him.
That was it. I was done. I planned to run away in two weeks.
But three days before I could escape, she lost the baby. Somebody poisoned her.
And now everyone thinks I did it.
They locked me in the dungeons. In three days they are going to kill me for murder. My own dad is not even sure I am innocent. The whole pack hates me. All the evidence says I am guilty.
Except I did not do it. Somebody set me up. Somebody wants me dead.
They think I am weak. They think I will just give up and die.
They are so, so wrong.
My name is Aria Silvercrest and I have survived six years of pure hell. I am not dying now. Not like this. Not without fighting back with everything I have.
This is my story. And it is just getting started.

Chapter: Chapter 5The great hall filled up fast that afternoon. Hundreds of pack members crowding in, all dressed fancy, all excited to witness the official announcement.Everyone except me.I stood in my chambers staring at my reflection. Silver dress. Hair braided perfect. Makeup hiding the fear and exhaustion. I looked like a proper Luna.Felt like a wolf walking to her death. My escape bag was hidden near the servants' entrance. Elena had weapons stashed at three exit points. Mira prepared herbs in case we needed to slow down trackers.Everything ready. Just had to survive the next few hours. Smile through the announcement. Then slip away and run.Simple plan.So why did I feel like throwing up?A knock made me jump."Luna Aria, it is time."I took a breath. Smoothed my dress. Put on the mask I wore for six years.Time to perform. The walk to the great hall felt endless. Pack members everywhere, whispering as I passed. There she is.Poor thing.I wonder if she will cry.I smiled. Nodded. Played my

Chapter: Chapter 4The word hung in the air between us like a blade."But I have never even heard of Mortwert until right now.""I know that. But your studies with me over the years, your work learning about herbs for your Luna duties, it is all documented. Anyone looking at the records would see that you have extensive herbal knowledge."Understanding crashed over me like ice water. "If Sienna loses the baby and they find Mortwert in her system""Everyone will suspect the jealous, barren Luna who has motive and knowledge." Mira gripped my shoulders. "Aria, I think you are being set up. I think Kael is planning to frame you for murdering his child."No. No no no.This could not be happening."What do I do?" My voice came out small and terrified."We gather evidence. We prove what Kael is doing. And we”A knock on the door made us both jump.Mira quickly hid the herb pouch in a drawer and opened the door.Gamma Thorne stood there. Face grim. Two guards behind him."Luna Aria," he said formally. "Alpha Ka

Chapter: Chapter 3The pack gathering was in two days and I could not stop thinking about what I heard.Sienna's terrified voice. That slap. The mysterious herbs making her sick.I needed to talk to someone. Elena. Mira. Anyone who might know what was happening. But Kael had guards watching me more closely now. Not obviously. Just always there. Following at a distance when I went to meetings. Standing outside the great hall when I had Luna duties. Lurking near my training sessions with Elena. He knew I was planning something. Or suspected. Either way, I had to be more careful. The morning after hearing about Sienna's pregnancy, I went down to breakfast in the main dining hall. Usually I ate alone in my rooms but I needed to seem normal. Act like everything was fine. The hall was already full of pack members eating and talking. Conversations died when I walked in. Eyes followed me. Whispers started.Poor Luna Aria.Did you hear about Sienna? She must be devastated. Can you imagine?I kept my head high an

Chapter: Chapter 2"Day 2,192 of being mated to Kael," I wrote. "Fourteen days until freedom. I can survive fourteen more days. I survived 2,192. What are fourteen more?"I was putting the journal back in its hiding spot inside a hollowed out book when I heard voices from outside my window.A man's voice. A woman laughing.No. Please no. Not tonight. But I went to the window anyway. Looked down at the garden below. And there they were, lit up by moonlight like some romantic painting.Kael with his arms around Sienna Goldmane. His mistress. The woman he actually loved. He pulled her close and kissed her and I watched even though it felt like swallowing broken glass.Everyone in the pack knew about Sienna. She came from the Sunrise Pack three years ago, some political arrangement nobody ever explained to me. Kael did not even try to hide their relationship. He brought her to pack gatherings. Sat her in places of honor. Looked at her like she hung the moon and stars. While I sat in my Luna chair and preten

Chapter: Chapter 1The strategy meeting had been dragging on forever. Three whole hours of me talking and Kael pretending I did not exist."So if we add patrols here," I pointed at the map, my finger landing on the eastern border where rogue sightings kept happening, "and then put a second group here, they overlap. See? Any rogue trying to sneak through gets caught between both teams. Like a trap."Alpha Kael Nightshade, my mate, the love of my life who was supposed to cherish me forever, barely even glanced at my carefully drawn plans."Mmm. Yeah. I will look at your ideas later."Your ideas. Like I was some random pack member making suggestions instead of his Luna. His destined mate. The wolf who had spent the last six years building every single defense this pack ever used.I sat back hard in my chair. The familiar sting of being dismissed washed over me like cold water. Around the big wooden table, all the important pack members suddenly found other places to look. My father, Beta Damien, stared at
