I smelled it the instant I sat on my bed. My heart picked up its pace, and slowly, I got on my feet, careful not to make a sound. But suddenly, he was there, idling by the mirror, his golden eyes dangerously darker behind those glasses. I tried to speak, but only an inaudible sound came out. “Whose perfume do you have on you, Isabella?” His deep-set tone covers every inch of my room. I should be terrified. I was. Yet my big mouth got the better of me. “It’s none of your business.” “You kissed him,” he said, leaning away from the mirror. “And you are engaged,” I retorted, raising my hands exasperatedly. “I guess this night is just full of surprises.” In the blink of an eye, before I got my last word out, he was right in front of me, one hand on my waist, pulling me flush against him. I could taste the warmth of his breath on my tongue, and unconsciously, my eyes fluttered closed. My father abandoned me seven years ago. So, when my mother ships me off to spend my senior year with him in Westside Eden, I expect the worst. I don’t expect wolves. Or the nerdy man with golden eyes who looks at me like he wants to kiss me… and kill me. I don’t expect his younger brother to fall for me. Aiden is everything I should stay away from – rude, cold, untouchable, every girl’s dream, engaged. But every time danger finds me, he’s already there, watching… Lying to me. And then, I discover the truth. The reason Aiden has been watching, the reason my father walked out on us all those years ago. And the reason my new best friend wants me dead.

Chapter: Chapter Five
Isabella POV “Red cup or blue cup?” Marv was asking, leaning into me so I could hear him above the music. I knew what he was trying to do. And it wasn’t working. I tried to like Westside Eden. The town was great. But I couldn’t help but remember that the minute this all ended, I would be back home with a father I hated. I would rather go home with a smile on my face and not fear that just an appearance was going to ruin it.Still, I answered Marv. “What’s the difference?”“Red, you’re single. The guys here are all going to try to hit on you.”“That’s if they find me attractive.”His face got red as he looked away sharply, muttering under his breath. "You are attractive."“And the blue cup?” I asked, clearing my throat and trying not to make this awkward. “You’re in a relationship. You’re taken. No one would bother you.”If I picked the blue cup, Marv would think one of two things. Either I had a boyfriend back at home waiting for me, or that there was a chance I wanted to be with h

Chapter: Chapter Four
Aiden POV “The Lycan Prince is here!" I heard someone yell before I pushed the door open and stepped into the council room. It was a stone building, and it looked like it was printed right out of an Elizabethan-era magazine.Did magazines even exist during that period?Fuck! That new girl was beginning to make me ask myself a lot of silly questions. It was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw her standing in the middle of her childhood bedroom, looking so small in the middle of all that sparkle. She looked…No, Aiden. Silence fell in the room as I crossed the space, sliding into the chair at the head of the table. The members of my council didn’t take their seats until I was seated. And even when I was, they made no noise, carefully pulling their seats towards them. They knew how I got with the slightest disturbance. They were scared of me. I could see it in their eyes. I craved it, even. “Where is the second prince?” one of the council members asked. “My brother

Chapter: Chapter Three
Isabella POV He had a sports car. A freaking sports car. I knew he was a nerd. He looked like one. Yet, he had to be the most stylish nerd in existence.I was in a cute little black dress with a pair of New Balance, sitting in his passenger seat. He rolled down the roof, even if it was dark and windy, before starting the car. Still in silence. I shifted uncomfortably in the leather seat, pulling at the seatbelt and doing everything other than cure the awkward silence in the air. He was leaning into his seat, one hand on the wheel and the other resting on the window. “So what do you think about my baby brother?”I wasn’t expecting him to say anything, so hearing his voice was a shock; one that took a few seconds to recover. Under the dim street lights, I saw him roll his eyes. "A few hours in town and he already has you speechless?” he murmured, making a turn. “That’s a first.”I ignored him. "Why is football played here in the middle of the night?"He glances at me. “You’re jokin

Chapter: Chapter Two
Isabella POV “So much for loving it at Westside Eden,” I muttered to myself as I sauntered in, closing the door behind me. Everything was exactly how I’d left it, only that my father was now sitting on the couch, his hazy eyes on me. “I’m so sorry, Isabella. If I’d known you were coming in today…”“You would have pretended to not be a sorry drunk ass of a man? How long would you have been able to keep that up for?”“Bels…”"You can't call me that anymore!" I snapped. "You lost the privilege the minute you walked out on Mom and me."“Baby, you don’t understand. Back then, I was …”“Another round of your excuses, right? I’m going to call Mom and tell her to come get me tomorrow. Staying all year alone in that huge house is better than being here with your drunk ass.”“I’m sorry,” he whispered, covering his face with one hand. Great. He should be ashamed of himself. I won’t allow myself to feel sorry for him. I won’t.So why did I feel an overwhelming sympathy wash over me?“Where is m

Chapter: Chapter One
Isabella POVThe first thing I noticed was the air. It was nothing like where I was coming from. I dropped my pink suitcase in front of the dingy porch and took in a deep breath. My deep brown hair cascaded all around my back as I turned to take in the view.My father’s house, nestled in the middle of nowhere. I’d given my mother one school year. If I hated it here, I’d be gone. I didn’t care if her new boyfriend just got a new job coaching a football team up in Germany. They could leave me alone at home all year. I didn’t mind that.It was better than reconnecting with a father I never knew. Nothing moved as I dragged my suitcase along with me inside. The door was partially open, so I pushed it all the way, letting myself in.Urghh! It smelled like something died in here. And why the hell was it dark?I caught a lamp gleaming on a surface, off. I had just thought about heading there when suddenly, something thumped hard against my forehead. “Ouch!” I yelped, pushing back immediat
