Chapter: 27Sunlight filtered softly through the curtains of the hotel room, resting gently on the white sheets. For a few seconds, she lay still, listening to the quiet hum of the city outside. London was awake already. Cars moved below, people hurried to places she would never know. She sat up slowly and rubbed her eyes.Today was important. She showered, letting the warm water calm her nerves. That morning as she dressed she dressed carefully—nothing too flashy, nothing too plain. A fitted black dress, modest but elegant, and low heels she could walk confidently in. Her hair was neatly packed, her makeup light. She didn't want to wear a dress that was make men lust over her body and besides in the terms of her work, decent dressing is priority.Pedro, however, noticed her the moment she stepped beside him, and walked into the car. He wanted to compliment her but he didn't want to go back to the conversation of the previous day till they go to California. They arrived at the private office bui

Chapter: 26In about 6 hours, they arrived at the airport. After taking their luggage, they walked a little before a car pulled up in front of them; the driver stepped out and took their luggage from them. ''Welcome, boss. '' He said, pulling the luggage to the trunk of the car and putting it in. Pedro opened the door for Jasmine to get in but before he could tell her to, she had walked over to the other side and entered. His lips thinned into a straight line, and he sat down, closing the door after him. After the flight, she changed. She was still sitting the way she sat when they were going to the airport; Pedro glanced at her briefly and quickly pulled his eyes away. London was a real beauty; everywhere looked magnificent; her hometown was beautiful too, but London had a different feel. In a few minutes, the car pulled to a stop; Jasmine looked in front and she saw that they had stopped in front of a highrise building, obviously a hotel. Pedro came out of the car, and she stepped out too

Chapter: 25Pedro had been quiet since takeoff.Too quiet. As the plane leveled off and the seatbelt sign switched off, he turned slightly toward her. His expression was serious, distant in a way that immediately put her on edge.“Jasmine,” he said softly, careful not to draw attention. “There’s something we need to talk about.”Her chest tightened. She kept her gaze forward, watching the clouds slide past the window. “About what?”“About us,” he replied. “And what happens if I marry you.”There it is again. She turned to face him fully now, searching his eyes for reassurance. Instead, she found restraint. Calculation. The same look he wore in boardrooms when weighing risks.“Susan’s father,” Pedro continued, lowering his voice, “is not a man you challenge lightly.”Jasmine frowned. She had heard the name Anthony spoken like a curse, always followed by silence. “What kind of man is he?”Pedro exhaled slowly. “Ruthless. Strategic. He doesn’t just fight—he destroys. People who cross him don’t just

Chapter: 24The first class was tastefully decorated; it looked like a real-life room; there was a door connected to the room and just then a flight attendant walked out of the door with a bunch of towels; there was a smile on her face as she walked past them. Jasmine caught the view of the room before it was shut close; it was an exclusive bedroom. Wow! All these luxuries for just a flight! It must have cost a fortune to book this place. She thought and then she heard an announcement; ''Flight attendants prepare for take-off, please. Cabin crew; please take your seats for take-off. Passengers, please fasten your seatbelts. '' Jasmine's brows creased; Did Pedro reserve the whole firstclass cabin? Oh right, he was rich. The rich spent their money as they liked. She was poor, that was why she thought it to be a big deal. She reasoned as she put on her seatbelt; she had never flown before, she thought that it would be a smooth ride in the air when suddenly she felt the plane quake; her eyes widene

Chapter: 23It was Mid April; she wasn't sure how the weather would be London, so she ran back to the bed and picked up her phone, browsing about the weather. Oh, very rainy… She mumbled in her head before walking back to the wardrobe. She didn't like rainy days, her mom had died on a rainy day. That night was very dreadful and although she was almost forgetting it, she always remembered it when there was a storm; she pulled herself away from the thoughts as she concentrated her eyes on the closet. When she came into Pedro's house and given that room, the wardrobe was already stuffed with wears, ranging from underwear to work clothes to foot wears. Some of them were her size, while the others were not exactly. She just made do with some clothes for the meantime. Her clothes back home were a very shabby, so since she started working, she needed most of the clothes for work. She kept imagining how wonderful the trip will be not remembering that it was a business trip. She had taken alot of clothes,

Chapter: 22When I stepped into Pedro’s black SUV that first Monday morning, the tone for my new role was already set.I could feel it in the way the driver straightened when I entered, in the faint scent of leather and expensive cologne that lingered in the car. This wasn’t just another ride. This wasn’t just another day. I wasn’t only going to work—I was stepping into a world layered with rules no one would ever explain to me out loud.By the time we arrived at the office, I could already feel eyes on me.Pedro pulled into the parking lot at exactly 8:25 a.m., as he always did. The doors opened, and I stepped out beside him—not behind, not trailing, not rushing to catch up. I walked in rhythm with his stride, my heels clicking softly against the pavement, my posture straight, my expression calm.Heads turned.Conversations fell into sudden silence. Whispers floated through the air like smoke. I didn’t need to hear a single word to know what they were saying. The questions were written on their
