10 RULES OF OUR LOVE
'I never planned to marry a man I barely knew, but that was before Andrea Peters walked into my life and turned everything upside down.' LOLA ERIKSON'S POV I sat down on a car bonnet in the workshop, looking at a man who had just driven in with his daughter. She was a beautiful chocolate skinned young girl jumping around and asking her father questions on some things she saw in the workshop. I stared at them and wondered how I was when I was her age. Was I timid? Or maybe I was more vibrant than she was. I couldn't help smiling as I tried to imagine my younger self in different scenarios. My name is Lola Erikson, and I'm the only child of my poor parents. I have no memories of my childhood, so I enjoy watching little children. "Hey beautiful," I heard someone say really close to me. I looked up and realised I had been so cut up in my imagination that I didn't know when the man walked up to me. His little girl was still playing around his car. "Hello, Sir," I said as politely as I could, looking up and smiling a little bit. "I could see you checking me out from the distance, and I decided to come over. By the way, you look really hot in that uniform of yours, I could pump a baby into you right here and now, " he said, and I felt a shock wave go through my system. Did he just say that to me? Is that respectful in the slightest way? Did he think I was checking him out because I was staring at his daughter? I took some seconds to reply and tried not to be disrespectful to a customer. "I wasn't checking you out or staring at you, Sir," I said and decided it was time to leave. I had barely taken a step when I felt a hand grab my waist, pulling me closer to himself. I turned immediately and instinctively gave him a hot slap on the cheeks. It took him some seconds to register what had just happened. "Did you just slap me?" He asked, walking closer to me aggressively, but my co-worker Lucas intercepted him and stood in front of him. "Your car is ready, Sir. I have to deliver it to you, so I can go ahead and secure the CCTV footage for today," Lucas said, and the man immediately got the message. He either left without creating a scene or he gets into a big mess. He took his car keys from Lucas, took a glance at me, walked to his car, and drove off with his daughter. As his car faded into the distance, I couldn't help but feel pity for the little girl who had to go through life with such a man as a father. "Thank you," I said, turning back to Lucas, who I felt really grateful to for defending me. "I'm sorry about that, and you don't need to thank me," he said, and I smiled. He calmed me down and went back to his work. Some days were like this. Shitty customers could come in and choose to throw their shit on me. It's probably because I am the only female mechanic in this workshop. I sighed and got back to fixing the car whose bonnet I was previously sitting on. Hours Later. I had closed from work and was heading back home. I silently prayed within me that my friend and roommate Kira had prepared some food. I was just so exhausted and tired. "Damn!" I heard someone utter angrily, and I turned to see a very handsome man in front of his car whose bonnet was open, trying to fix his car. I could see that he had no idea what he was doing, and if he continued, he would totally destroy the car. "Hello, what going on with your car? Let me see if I can help you," I said, but the next words I heard got me so angry that I couldn't hold myself back. ANDREA PETER'S POV I have not been so angry in like forever! "I'm sorry sir, I can't make it to work today," That was what my driver called to tell me this morning. Who does that? What lousy work ethics! I don't employ or trust just anyone to drive me, so I had to take myself to my company this morning, and now, on my way back, my car just broke down. My name is Andrea Peters, and I'm the son of Jackson Peters, the richest man in Canrany. I've got lots of enemies and admirers, and women can do anything to have me to themselves. Why won't they? Snagging me would be the best thing that ever happened to them, but that would be impossible. I called my mechanic and personal assistant, but they seem to be taking a long time to get here. I opened the bonnet and stood in front of the car, trying to fix it magically. I knew I could get it worse than it was, but I cared less. "Hello, what's going on with your car? Let me see if I can help you," I heard a lady say, and of course, I got angry. These ladies and their unrealistic schemes! She must be one of my daily stuckers, who wants to leverage on this opportunity to get in my bed, cage me with a child, and get some billions of dollars from me. I wasn't having that today. "Get the hell away from me," I sparked angrily, and I turned to see a very beautiful and slender lady behind me, looking as innocent as an angel. She looked different from all the women that have ever thrown themselves at me. I immediately felt bad for shouting the way I did. "Stupid jerk!" She screeched at me, throwing her head back in complete disgust. "Did you just call me a stupid jerk?" I shouted, losing the little bit of remorse I had felt after shouting at her. "You know what? You look like a dumb entitled jerk, I should never have offered to help," She said, and I felt a pit of anger rising within me. Lola Erikson Why would he talk to me that way? What gave him the guts? I just had to meet two mad people all in one day. One at the workshop, and now this? It felt really annoying, and I just couldn't hold back. Three cars pulled over behind the man's car, and I understood that he was one of those rich people who didn't care about others. I continued walking home, and when I had barely taken ten steps away from him, I heard something that made my heart jump right into my stomach. "Get her!" I heard the man shouting, and two hefty looking men started coming after me. "Oh my God," I muttered and began to run as fast as I could with my tiny legs. 'What have I gotten myself into?' I thought within me, wishing I could just dissappear. I couldn't get far when the men caught up with me and picked me up like a doll. They threw me into a car and drove off behind their heartless boss. I kept crying and screaming, but nothing changed, and I got no help. Where were they taking me to? Who was he? What have I gotten my self into? All these questions kept going through my mind, and I couldn't help but cry all the way to my unknown destination.10 RULES OF OUR LOVELOLA'S POV“You were planning to force me into getting married to Anna Richard, dad, so I came up with the idea of a contract wife, and I went ahead with it. But the contract is in the past now because I love Lola so much, and I can’t live without her,” Andrea explained to his dad, and his dad breathed out a sigh of relief.“In as much as you lying to me with something as important as marriage isn’t right, it is a good thing that you haven't slept with each other all these while. We will conduct a DNA test immediately to confirm the legitimacy of Luke’s claim, and after that, we can think of a way forward.” Mr Jackson Peters concluded, placing a call immediately to his family doctor.A bit of my hair and that of Mr and Mrs Peters were cut out for the test, and it was picked up almost immediately.I felt really broken, everything and everyone had lied to me, including the one I thought loved me the most in the world, my mum.“You knew about all of this mum, and you
10 RULES OF OUR LOVELOLA'S POVI couldn't believe my ears. Maybe I hadn’t heard right, because there was no way..“Dad, what did you just say? What do you mean by that?”There was no way, no way in hell I was in love with my brother. No way, I was already legally married to him.“This is crazy Dad, tell me you are lying. This is some kind of joke..” I cried out, jerking my dad on his wheelchair.I didn't mind his condition anymore. With what he had just said, it was confirmed that all Mr Jackson Peters had said was the truth. My Dad was a wicked kidnapper, a betrayal. I had called him dad ever since I could remember. I didn’t have my childhood memories, so there was no way I could know anything. And my mum? She knew about all this and kept mute? How could she? My whole life has been a lie?My head spiralled out of control, and it felt like I was running mad.“I’m sorry, Lola,” my Dad, Mr Luke Erikson, started.“I’m sorry that this is happening. I and your mum here aren’t your real pa
LOLA'S POV The meeting between my family and the Peter’s had been fixed, and it was finally time. Dad and mom were sitting in the living room, and we were currently waiting for Mr and Mrs Jackson, who were running late.Andrea was out of the room to place a call to them after exclaiming about how familiar my dad looked. According to him, he felt like he knew him from somewhere, but just couldn't say exactly where. That was quite strange. Dad kept looking around the house in astonishment.“Lola dear, do you mean you actually live here, and that young man is your husband?” Dad asked for the hundredth time, and I chuckled lightly. “Yes Dad, he is.” I confirmed and he looked on in disbelief. “Who is he? And what does he do for a living to be this wealthy? Look at this mansion, Ella..” Dad exclaimed, turning to mum who was sitting beside him.“Well Dad, he is from a very wealthy and wellknown family, his dad is…” I was saying when my dad’s face went pale as he stared at the door.I tu
ANDREA'S POV “I can’t let her stay alone in this state. Try to understand me..” Lola pleaded as tears dropped from her eyes.“No, you won’t, because instead, she can move in here for now, and I believe she would be more comfortable.” I finished, and she looked really relieved.“Will you let her stay here for some time with me?” She reiterated, and I nodded in affirmation. “Thank you!” She bellowed, pulling me into a tight hug as she sniffed back tears.♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡In less than an hour, Kira's things were picked up from her apartment by my assistant Harry, and she settled into Lola's room.“Thank you so much, Andrea. I really appreciate this,” Lola thanked happily, with a tired smile on her face.“It’s fine, I didn’t do anything much.”“Is she sleeping?” I inquired, and she nodded.“It means so much to me and to Kira that you let her stay here with me, and you know.. maybe you are not as heartless as I thought you were..” “Wait.. heartless? You actually t
ANDREA'S POV “Don’t play games with me Lola, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Your boyfriend… I saw it for myself, you weren't even slightly reluctant to display your affection for him.. You guys were all over eachother..” I spluttered.“Wait, did you come to campus today, and is this about Dan?” “Well it's good you are finally being truthful to yourself,” I said, brushing past her.“He’s not my boyfriend.. and he only apologised to me and gave me a friendly hug, It doesn't mean anything ...” She said behind me.My shoulder eased up, releasing the weight I never knew I had been carrying. A smile of relief slowly crept up my face.“But wait a minute, are you jealous right now?” She asked, chuckling lightly. Me? Jealous? No way!“I have no idea what you mean by that,” I said, trying to conceal the joy in my voice.“Well I think you do, because it wa
ANDREA'S POV I sat down in my office going through important documents piled up on my desk.“I need to attend to this today, but I just can't get a hold of myself!” I snapped, slapping the desk and putting away a document I've been staring at for over an hour. I just couldn't concentrate. All I could think of was Lola's rejection and the cold shoulder she had given me this morning on our way back home from dad's house. She didn't even say a word to me.. nothing! It was like I didn't exist.I could never get used to that sort of treatment. Important personalities grovelled at my feet, and I didn't give a damn about them. But Lola.. she doesn't want me, and it hurts so badly.I shut my eyes, trying to control my emotions and get some work done. A strong scent of perfume filled the room, and as I looked up, I couldn't believe my eyes.. Anna Richard was right inside my office, with a huge smile on her face. How the heck did she get in?I had been so engrossed in thoughts that I didn't
