AFTER BREAKFAST

Ryker:

I heard the sound of heels clicking as Selene came in behind us. Leading Keiliegh to sit beside me, I ignored Selene’s glared and focused on my mate. She was more important than Selene could ever be to me anyway.

I saw the way Arnold ended up looking annoyedly at me to my confusion. What was up with him?

Selene sat beside my brother and glared at Keiliegh which I did my best to ignore.

And just like that, the awkward, tension filled breakfast began.

I kept an eye on Keiliegh’s plate, mindful of her eating a balanced diet for herself and the baby.

But as the breakfast went on, I noticed that Arnold’s tense expression hadn’t ceased.

I decided to speak up, “Arnold, do you have something to share with us today?”

He blinked slowly, and his brows furrowed.

“What do you mean? I only wanted us to eat like a family, Ryker. Like the old days,” he replied.
