chapter five

"I'm coming in you better be clothed!" Amelia shouted through a crack in the door.

"As if you haven't seen me naked before." I say with a groan. She laughed and slipped into my room with a gown hung over her arm. I had my dress for tonights ceremony laid out on my bed as I sat at my vanity in a white slip drying my hair.

"Yeah and it wasn't something I enjoyed." She said setting her gown down.

"Why? Were you jealous?" I say winking at her and pointing to my breasts. She rolled her eyes at me.

"No, you're my sister I don't wanna see you naked." She said sitting down on my bed.

"Eh. Feel free to use anything I have for tonight by the way, and I do mean anything. Jewelry, make up. perfume, shoes I don't mind."

"Really anything?" She asked. I nodded and she squealed. We didn't show how much we appreciated each other through words but rather through our actions.

"I mean it, anything." I said with a shrug while brushing out my hair again.

"Even the pearl and saphire necklace and earring set your parents gave you when we graduated highschool?" I thought about it for a moment.

"On one condition." I say pulling the set out of my jewelry box.

"I'm listening." She said looking at me skeptically.

"Swear on your first born pup nothing will happen to it." She laughed.

"I did that when I borrowed one of your books back in highschool." I rolled my eyes.

   "Okay second born."

"When I borrowed a dress for prom."

"Okay what number are we on then?" She contemplated it for a moment.

"Sixth." She finally answered. I laughed.

"If you and Kyle have six pups I will be amazed."

"How about my first grand child?" She suggested. I nodded.

"Very well, swear on your first grand child nothing will happen to this set." She nodded.

"I'd rather die then let anything happen to it. I know how much it means to you." She began to run her fingers through my hair.

"Now what are we doing with this?" She asked holding up a small handful of my long black hair. I unlocked my phone and showed her a photo. It was a half ponytail style that had the half that was up styled into a rose with silver beads laced through to make it look like dew drops.

"Can you manage this?" She nodded and I pulled the silver beads out from the top drawer of my vanity for her as well as several hair ties and hair pins as I sent her the tutorial on how to do it.

   "What about makeup?" I sighed.

"It's a bit beyond my skill level so I will need your help again." She smiled at me.

"If I can borrow that saphire blue shawl of yours with our pack crest on it you've got a deal." I laughed and shook my head.

"Alright, I can manage that since I will be using my silver one."

"Alright show me what you want." I switched to another photo.

"I can do my foundation and highlighter no problem but it's the eyeliner and eyeshadow." I show her a picture. "Ok well I can put the silver eyeshadow but you know I can't do the wing tip to save my life and that thin black liner on the top eyelid forget it you know my hands aren't steady enough for that. I can do the black eyeliner on my lower lid but the silver underneath and the silver swirls yeah no." She laughed and shook her head at me.

"Alright I will do your hair then while I do mine do what you can for your make up then i'll finish it." I nodd and swivel so my back is to her and give her my hair brush.

"This reminds me of the last time I saw Elstan." I whisper to her. My heart felt heavy at the meantion of prom night.

"I know. Who the hell breaks up with their girlfriend after prom though?" I shrug. I was over it all at this point but I remember how much that night had hurt.

"Not to mention he only broke up with me to go sleep with some human girl."

"Yeah he's not worth the air you breath sis, you know that." I place a hand on my chest.

"I know but it doesn't change the fact that a part of him is still connected to me. I still have love for him, you know that, but I refuse to go through any of that ever again." She nodded.

"I know sis. Besides you're better off without him. Perhaps it's time to consider a chosen mate." I shrug.

"Maybe. Zariah seems persistent that we have a second chance mate but I don't know who or if I will ever meet him."

"Well she's never been wrong so i'm sure when the time is right the moon goddess will reveal him to you. If not maybe you should consider a chosen mate." I nodd.

"I'll give it two more years. If I do not find a second chance mate by my twenty-eighth birthday I will select a chosen mate." I flinch a little as a pin jabs my scalp. "Ouch."

"Sorry sis I didn't mean to hurt you. I was just thinking of who you're gonna choose." I shrug.

"It's fine. honestly I don't know. I wont know until then." We remain silent for the most part the rest of the time.

After what felt like forever Amelia and I stand admiring ourselves in the mirrors in my room. My best friend had chosen a beautiful saphire blue strapless dress that had a slight v shaped neckline that showed a little cleavage. She looked stunning with my blue shawl and my necklace set my parents gave me. She was wearing matching flats since heels and her were not friends. She had light make up on and her hair was in a bun that almost reminded me of a spider plant with a rhinestone scrunchy I had given her years ago. She looked so gorgeous and I knew her mate would be beside himself when he saw her. I honestly envied her sometimes because I wished I could have that kind of love.

I studied myself over again. My hair and make up were perfection. The silver accented my pale skin and dark hair in ways that looked so stunning. The holographic highlighter made me shine in the faintest light in a way that Amelia had insisted made me look like a goddess. I wore a silver crescent moon necklace that rested on my collar bone. The dress though was what made even me think I looked amazing. The neckline was a deep V that showed way more clevage than Amelias dress and slightly curved around each breast right above where the strapless pushup bra I was wearing was. The back was so low cut it stopped at the base of my hips. The dress itself did have a thin strip of fabric going across the back that hid my bra and had a piece of silver tule like fabric that hung down the entire length of the dress and trailed slightly behind me. I remembered how much Elstan had hated this dress and smiled at the thought. My silver shawl laid on my bed and I decided against wearing it, I wanted to show off a bit.

"Honestly I think your ex is going to die when he sees you in that dress." I smiled.

"Is it bad I kinda hope he does?" Amelia laughed and shook her head.

"You're terrible. Oof hold on girl I gotta go to the bathroom then we'll go meet up with the men." She said as she rushed off to my bathroom. I sat on my bed and thought back to our highschool prom. It wasn't exactly a happy memory but hearing Amelia bring it up earlier had caused it to resurface.
