Chapter 3

Cody

As I walk into the living room, I notice Sam walking after me.

"Cody." She calls but I don't respond. "Cody!"

"What?" I snap. "Why did you promise to her that we're going to help her? I don't want any part of this."

Sam stares at me pointedly. "We brought her here to your house and therefore we must help her. She needs help."

"Can't we just hand her over to the police and make her not our problem anymore?" I argue and Sam's eyes widen.

"Cody! We are going to help her whether you like it or not. And that's final." She then grabs my shoulders. "Promise me you're going to help her."

I look away and she shakes me lightly. I direct my gaze back to her. "Cody, I want you to promise me that you're going to help Snow."

I sigh, not liking the idea. "I promise." Sam smiles.

"What you said earlier was a very good idea though." She says.

"You mean handing her over to the police? I thought you weren't happy with that idea." I frown at her.

"Of course we're not going to just hand Snow over to the police. We're going to ask them for help. And by them, I mean Detective Parker."

"Parker?" I say and she nods. I shake my head at her.

Cassidy Parker is a detective. A very good one but I don't like him. He likes poking his nose into places it shouldn't be. He annoys me very much. Another reason is because he flirts with a lot of women, especially with my assistant. And he's annoying. I know I've already mentioned that.

"No way are we asking Parker to help us." I disagree.

"But he can help."

"Can't we ask other detectives to help us instead of Parker? You know I dislike that man."

"Well, you're going to have to tolerate him. He's very good at his job. One of the best detectives in the city." Sam looks at me pleadingly.

I sigh, taking her idea into consideration. I hate that I am doing so.

"Fine call him and tell him we'll be at the station to meet him in an hour." Sam nods and pulls out her phone. "I'll call Anderson and ask her to take care of everything and ask Lee for help if she needs any. I'm going to my room."

With that, I walk away from Sam towards my bedroom. I shut the door immediately I'm inside and pull off my suit jacket. I call my secretary, Anderson and give her the instructions. I text my brother and deputy CEO, Lee and ask him to help Anderson when he can.

I sit down on my bed and run my hand through ny hair. Instead of being at work today, I'm stuck here at home with my stubborn assistant and a stranger who has lost her memory. Meeting Parker later today is going to ruin my day even more.

I groan and fall backwards onto my bed, staring at the ceiling. A knock on my door catches my attention. "Yes?"

"Cody, we'll have to get Snow new clothes on our way to the station. She can't wear the clothes you gave her yesterday all day today you know." Great.

"Alright then. Let's get going." I respond with an annoyed tone and I hear Sam snicker. I frown at her response. I'm definitely going to have a headache after today.

*****

The ladies spent more than an hour shopping for clothes. It's a good thing we left home early or else we would’ve been late to meet the Detective.

I make sure to lock my car that is parked in front of the police station after we all get out. Parker meets us at the lobby and send us to his office.

On our way there, he keeps flirting with Sam but she ignores him. Usually she'd flirt with him to secretly tease him, but I warned her earlier that we were here on serious business so she must keep a straight face today. He tried to flirt with Snow too but I gave him a look that dared him to try and he looked straight ahead.

Snow looks around, studying her environment. I glance at her and take in her features. Snow was short with fair skin and long dark hair that reached her waist. I was beginning to see why I named her Snow. She looked small in my eyes. And she was light in my arms arms when I carried her yesterday. Whatever happened to her to let her end up naked in a dumpster must be really bad.

Parker offered us seats once we entered his office and he takes his place behind his desk.

"A glass of water?" He offered.

"No thanks we're fine." Sam replies but Snow accepts his offer.

He gets up from his seat, walks over to his dispenser and pours cold water into a plastic cup for Snow. I roll my eyes.

He is wasting our time.

He smiles at her and returns to his seat.

"So what can I help you with?" The Detective asks.

Sam began. "We found our friend yesterday lying in a dumpster. She was naked and unconscious." Parker grins when he hears that Snow was naked and I eye him. "When she woke up this morning, she said she can't remember anything. We thought maybe you could help us out."

Parker's grin widens, directing his attention to Sam. I sit in the chair uncomfortably and stare at Parker. I'll walk out of here if he doesn't do sonething fast.

"I can help you out."

"Great." Sam replies with relief.

"I'll take her fingerprints and picture and run it through our databases to see if we can find a match. I'll take her up to one of the forensics scientists and let them run some tests on Snow. I hope you don't mind."

"If that's going to help me remember and find out what happened to me, then I don't mind Detective." Snow responds. Parker nods and walks out with Snow. I glare at him, daring him to try anything funny with Snow.

After a few minutes, Parker came back, without Snow.

"Where's she?" I ask him.

"They're taking her blood samples for testing, she'll be with us soon. Don't worry, Mr Wells."

"I'm not worried. I'm just being cautious. I know you too well Parker." I snarl and he chuckles. I hear Sam sigh loudly from beside me and I give her a look.

Later, just as Parker said, Snow enters the office. Immediately she sat down in her seat, Parker calls me.

"I found a match." He grins at me. "Ready to know who you are Snow?" He asks her and I glance at her and at Sam. She looked more nervous than Snow.

"I'm ready. Detective."
