Kane turned to look at his mate. His eyes were sad, yet pleading.
Hayley could feel and see his pain. He wanted the simple spells that are slowly turning into curses gone.
Hayley felt bad for him to feel this way. She hated that something like that was happening to her mate.
She kissed his cheek, but that didn't seem to ease his worry.
"I don't think I can do this anymore." Kane said softly.
"Do what?"
"Be the Alpha. You can go ahead and reject me. You need someone strong by your side, that someone isn't me."
"What? No, don't talk like that. Please, at least fight those spells a little longer. You can't give up now."
Kane shook his head. "I feel like I have failed this pack."
Hayley fought back her tears to embrace Kane.
"You are the strongest and best person I know. You are Alpha for a reason. You know right from wrong, you treat people fairly."
