Chapter 10

It was already five hours that they've started the journey. Trevor's throat was parched, he glanced to call a guard to bring him water and noticed they were looking at him and laughing. Immediately they saw him look at them, they mute their mouth and faced the other side.

“You, bring me water.” Trevor pointed to one of them who was black in complexion.

The back guard hit the other in the shoulder and passed the water to Trevor. He held the bottle for a bit before releasing it to Trevor. Trevor looked at both of them with an uneasy feeling. He peeked at Denver who was at the front and saw him smoking. He looked around quickly but could not find anything to kill the uneasy pit in his stomach. He closed his eyes for a moment, while the carriage stopped. He opened his eyes immediately and peeked at Denver again. He saw him still smoking, while he placed his leg on the horse's back. He knocked the space between them to ask him what went wrong but Denver did not answer him.

“The audacity of him.” Trevor thought.

He got down with his eyebrows furrowed together and walked to the driver's seat. He met Denver and the two guards chatting with each other.

“What is the meaning of this?” Trevor asked them.

The guards looked at each other and continued chatting with each other. Denver continued to drag the smoke into his mouth and puff a cloud of it back out.

“Cant you answer me?” he asked them, his tone getting stronger.

Denver looked at him and raised his upper lips. He killed the smoke with his leg and walked towards Trevor stopping two inches away from him.

“And what are you going to do to me if I don't want to reply you. Tell me about it.” Denver said raising his chest at Trevor.

“Get back in the carriage and continue now, Denver. We gave to get there before sunset!” Trevor said to him with clenched teeth, trying to not get angry at him.

The two guards continued chatting, but using a side-eye to look at the both of them. Denver looked at Trevor as he pulled out another cigarette from his pocket. He held it between his fingers and stretched his hand backward. One of the guards walked to him and lit the cigarette for him. Trevor scoffed at this and looked at them each one by one.  Was this a planned thing between the three of them? Or between them and Malcolm?

Denver dragged the smoke of the cigarette and puffed it slowly on Trevor's face. This made Trevor furious. Even a soft-hearted person like him has his limits. He clenched his jaw tightly making the guards at the back halt their chatting. Denver smirked at this. He was already expecting this. He wanted the Alpha to get angry. What use does he have in the pack other than bossing them?

This was the third time he was killing a cigarette today. Denver's eyes turned blue as he was ready to change to this wolf form. Trevor growled silently, warning them not to make him do this. The guards at the back shifted to their wolf form at the snap of Denver's finger. He spread his lips evil at Trevor and walled back. Trevor weighed the two guards with his eyes. They were small fries to him but he would not like to injure them.

He looked at them and growled to their face but they kept walking towards him. He looked at Denver who smiled at him.

“What do you except? For them to bow for you? Sorry old friend but they don't obey you.” Denver said.

Trevor peered at the guards closely, making him notice that he has not seen them in his pack before.

Trevor gave Malcolm an hostile glare.

“What did you do to Malcolm?” Trevor asked him.

Denver grinned at him. He snapped his fingers again making the two guards growl out.

“That one? I took care of him. Since he would not accept my request. I showed him the consequences.” he replied.

Trevor, with both hands, flung one of the wolves that charged to him to the other side. He growled at the other one to get back but the wolf growled back at him.

“You've been planning this for a long time right, D?” Trevor said to Malcolm as he dipped his claw into the wolf's neck.

The wolf whimpered in pain and dropped down immediately. Denver stood up from where he was seated, snarling at the other wolf. The wolf turned in circles, looking at Trevor closely and waiting for the best time to attack him.

“Old friend, this has been on a very long time,” Denver said.

He was not the smiling Denver anymore. He looked closely at Trevor. He knew how strong he was when it comes to fighting. His wolf was his strength. He had always shown that since when they were training partners. How dare he gets to be the Alpha and him an ordinary pack member? He had trained this two guards that he found when on a trip with all his abilities. How dare he take them down like that easily?

The wolf charged at Trevor but before he could get to him, Trevor changed his eye color to red and snapped at him. The wolf steadied himself, the dominant howl of Trevor getting to him. He whined as he fell to the ground. Denver's jaw went slack. He could not believe his eyes.

“That leaves it to you and me old friend,” Denver said as he clenched his jaw.

“Stop calling me old friend. We became enemies immediately you started planning against me.” Trevor said as he charged at him.

Denver charged at him, his eyeball turning blue. Trevor used his claw to tear the stomach part of Denvers stomach, leaving that place out to any injury. Denver shifted back a little, he knew he could not win this. But he was going to give it his all best. He could not allow an incompetent wolf to continue leading the pack. He was a better candidate for that position, he thought to himself.

Trevor barked at Denver loudly making him stop in his track. Trevor carried his head up high and stood tall in front of Denver. With a hand, he lifted him, staring into his blue eyes.

“And let me remind you old friend as you say, you have not been able to beat me at a fight? What gave you the nerve to think you would win this?” he said with flared nostrils.
