II - Beau

To say I was surprised that I wasn't put in a cell for what I was, was an understatement. I was surprised and embarrassed. The Skinwalkers I fought ended up using their venom at some point when we fought, so I wasn't healing as fast. The Gamma's mate had to help me wash myself, since I could barely move without feeling sharp shooting pain. Skinwalker venom was dangerous and could cause a lot of pain, but if used in the right way could be used as a pain reliever, or paralytic agent or if mixed properly could be used as an anesthetic, or heat suppressant.

"Beau, we're going to be downstairs in the kitchen." Elia, the Gamma's mate spoke from behind the bathroom door. "Do you remember where that is? Or should I just wait?"

"I remember." I replied, as I stared into the mirror.

My skin was a lot paler than I remembered, my hair was white from old age. Elia had wrapped and patched my wounds that were taking the longest to heal. I put on the sweatshirt and leggings Elia had brought me, smiling when I saw that the sweatshirt was giant on me. I walked out of the bathroom, just to walk into someone. I let out a pained whimper, as I stepped back and looked up. The man looked down at me, as I could hear the female voice on the other end shouting and yelling. I took his phone and forced a smile.

"Hi, it's Allison, right?" I said, as I began walking down the stairs.

"Yeah, why did you take my mates phone?" She growled.

I stopped at the bottom of the stairs when two men in suits walked in. They growled when they saw me.

"Allison, he isn't your mate anymore. You're the one who slept with a man that wasn't your mate." I said, before ending the call, I pocketed his phone and gave the two men in front of me a smile. "Hi, the Gamma and his mate, know I'm here. Issues with it, you can bring it up with them."

"You just hung up on Allison Whitefield." One said, with surprise. "She could ruin your life."

"True, but I can ruin her father's life, with just one phone call to Interpol." I said, with a grin. "I'm sure they would love to know just how he earned all of his money."

I left the two men with confusion written on their faces. Just because I spent my life in the woods, didn't mean I stayed in there 24/7. I had ties with the triad and the mafia. I walked into the kitchen to find more people in the kitchen then just Elia, the Gamma, and the boys. The new people growled when I walked in.

"Elia, what's going on?" I asked, with a frown and curiosity.

"The Alpha Kings expected to announce his mate tomorrow," she said, walking over to me. "Except his mate mated with another Alpha centuries ago."

So, the Alpha King really was half Vampire. Cool.

"Well, I killed someone's mate when I was 115, he was my 2567th kill." I said, just for the tigers to look at me with hate.

I saw dead turkeys that still had their feathers. Just lying there on the table; I wonder if they would let me have the hearts.

"Were you all going to cook those?" I asked, nodding at the turkeys.

"We want to get these seasoned and marinated since before tomorrow, the Alpha King is expected back tomorrow, hopefully with news of who he is going to announce as his mate, well after this blind date I'm setting him up on." The man whose phone I took said, as he walked in with the two suits.

"Who is the lucky girl?"

"Would you believe it if I told you I've never met the girl?"

"You sound just like my friend Marlowe Higgins." I said, as I pulled out my phone. "So, what else do you all want for the dinner tomorrow? I know some Brownies who are looking for a new place to live."

There was silence and I looked up to see everyone looking at me.

"What?" I asked with confusion.

"You know our Beta?" Elia asked, with wide eyes.

"He received a letter meant for someone else." I replied, looking back down at my phone. "So, should I tell the Brownies to move in or not? Because from what I can see, you all need all the help you can get."

After some debating it was decided they could stay temporarily until the Alpha King made a decision, upon his return. My phone started ringing and it was Marlowe.

"Marlowe darling, you lied to me." I said, walking past a group of Warriors that had been helping me peel and cut potatoes. "But you and Delta Maddox can make it up to me."

"How?" He asked, with a laugh.

"Both of you go on a date with my friends Alice and Alissa."

I hung up before he could protest and looked at the Warriors, who looked shocked at my behavior. I shook my head with a smile as I sat back down.

"I know Marlowe's gay; Alice is a nickname for Alistair." I said, as I picked up the next bag of potatoes, before I asked the question I was burning to ask. "So, what the hell is a date?"

I swore the house went silent.

"You told him to go on a date without even knowing what it is?" The Warrior next to me asked, as he looked at me.

"He's setting me up on a date with the Alpha King, and as far as I've heard. The Alpha King doesn't do friends."

They nodded in agreement.

"So, what exactly is a date?"

"Do you know what courting is?"

I nodded.

"It is similar to that but doesn't always end up in marriage and isn't always filled with love. Dating is like a test run. Blind dates are usually with someone that a mutual friend you know knows."

I nodded even though I didn't still quite understand. Did the Alpha King even know I'm a Skinwalker? I would ask him, as soon as I met him.
