Chapter 4- The Demon King's Claim

Levi’s POV

I stand there watching the wolfless werewolf slowly inspect every inch of my face. I could see from her expression that she liked what she saw. This caused me to smirk at her and raise an eyebrow in question. When the woman blushed, I felt a twitch in my little buddy downstairs which caused me to take a closer look at her in interest.

She was a scrawny thing from what I could see under her baggy t-shirt and sweats. I couldn’t see much of her boobs, but I believe them to be a handful size maybe. Why does this woman dress so frumpy!? She looks to barely be old enough to drink and yet she dresses like an old maid. I frown at the thought.

I watch as the woman casts her eyes downward when she sees my frown. Does she think that I don't like what I see? I mean, I am not a fan of her clothing choices, and I am not sure what body type was hidden behind the frump, but she had a beautiful face. The freckles that I could see scattered across her nose and cheekbones added to the aesthetics of her face.

What surprises me is the flaming red hair that the woman sported. While I couldn’t be sure unless I saw the drapes under the curtains, I was pretty sure her hair was her natural color. Her eyebrow hairs matched the color of the hair on her head.

The color of her hair makes her freckles a mystery to me. Weren’t red heads usually quick to burn thus avoided being in the sun? This fiery vixen clearly didn’t shy away from the sun if her sun kissed skin was any indication. She was getting more interesting by the second.

After a few tense moments I decided to break the silence. “You don’t seem too surprised to see me in your poor excuse for a living room, my little fiery temptress.” When she looked back up at my words, I noticed that she had eyes the color of emeralds. Very interesting indeed.

The woman sighs before pulling herself into a standing position a few feet away from me and Ruth. As she moves I catch the scent of roses and chocolate and I have to admit that she smells good enough to eat. I wonder if she tastes as good as she smells.

“I messed up my summoning circle the first time I spoke the words for the spell so I kind of expected a consequence from that. I was not expecting you to come so late after the mix up though.” She says, frowning.

“Sorry to keep you waiting then my dear.” I say to her, while pulling my right arm over my chest and giving her a half bow. This only caused her to frown again.

“You are deceptively polite for a demon.” She replies, taking me by surprise. I take a moment to mull over her words while Ruth let out a chuckle beside me. The woman’s eyes swung to Ruth as if noticing her for the first time.

“No one has ever accused me of being polite.” I purr. Making my voice come out as a whisper in her ear that causes a shudder to go through her body. I grin widely at her reaction to my voice. This could be just the distraction I’ve been looking for.

The woman’s eyes went back to Ruth and uneasiness settled over her features before she smoothes them out and plasters on a brave face. I’ve always admired a woman that was able to hold their own in the face of danger.

“Let’s get down to business, shall we?” I ask her.

Her brows crinkle into a frown as she runs her fingers through her hair to move the pieces out of her face. A rogue strand falls back over her eye and I almost move to brush it out of her face.

What am I doing? I have never felt this urge to touch a woman before meeting this fascinating creature before me. What is it about her that has enthralled me so? I was so lost in thought that I missed what she said in response.

I notice her looking up at me, waiting for a response that I can’t give because I wasn’t fucking listening. “He has a tendency to ignore those who are talking to him.” Ruth says from beside me. I turn around to glare at her. Her response was to smirk and shrug her shoulders.

The woman stood there watching the exchange between us with an inquisitive look on her face. “Are you two a couple?” She asks. “Because if you are then I aplogize for checking out your man in front of you.”

The thought of me and Ruth being a couple is a ridiculous thought. We look at each other and laugh hysterically. I was the first to compose myself, wiping tears from my eyes before responding.

“Me and Ruth are not a couple. So your interest in me can very much be reciprocated.” I said suggestively. Ruth rolled her eyes causing the woman to giggle in the cutest way.

“Admiring your good looks does not mean that I want to jump into bed with you.” She says, squaring her shoulders. This move had her boobs protruding from her shirt, catching my attention. How wrong I was about their size. They were definitely more than a handful and my hands ached to see just how much more they were.

When I finally glance back at her face I notice her standing there expectantly and realize that I had once again not paid attention to what she had said. The woman glars at me, GLARES at ME, before turning to Ruth and speaks to her.

Usually insolence like this, especially from a human, would infuriate me but I find myself more amused than angry. What is this woman doing to me?

I miss what the woman had said to Ruth, but catch Ruth’s response. “Yes, he is always like this and he is lucky that I do not have a weapon that could kill him or he would not be alive to be standing here in your living room.” She sends me a murderous glare.

I heard the most adorable giggle escape the woman’s lips. I frown at her response, not usually the reaction Ruth causes in people. This woman iss either really brave, or really stupid.

I soon realize that I had again missed more of their conversation but give up because it is obvious that they are talking about me, and not in a good way. I walk over to the tiny loveseat in her sparse living room and sprawl myself across it.

My six foot six inch frame barely fits on the tiny little sofa. I wrinkle my nose in disgust as I glance around at the empty spaces in her tiny living room. Doesn’t the Crescent Moon pack have loads of money to where she shouldn’t be living in such squalor?

Lost in thought I almost missed the woman hissing at me in anger. Such a feisty little wolf she is.  “Do not look so disgusted while sitting, unwelcomed, on my loveseat.” She says angrily, folding her arms together beneath her breasts, drawing my attention once again to them. She notices and glares at me some more.

Ruth stands by, laughing at the exchange. “I don’t say this often about humans, especially werewolves, but I like her. She has spunk. If you don’t claim her then I just might.”

“She’s mine to claim!!” I growl in anger, jumping up from my seated position, staring daggers at Ruth. Ruth raises an eyebrow in interest at my sudden possessiveness over a woman, but says nothing.

The woman stands there, nervously looking between the two of us. I force my anger to cool and clear my features before sitting back on the loveseat. Seriously, what was happening to me?

“What is this about claiming me? SHIT! Did I sell my soul to a demon by accident?” She asks, nervously twirling the stray piece of hair in her face while biting her lower lip.

The sexiness of the action had me groaning quietly. I shift my jeans to allow my slightly hard member more space to breathe in my pants.

“Did you find the answers that you were seeking from your sister before we showed up?” Ruth asks before I am able to respond to her question. I look up at her curiously, wanting to know the answer as well. The woman looks to Ruth in surprise before sighing and seating herself in the only other piece of furniture in the room, an old chair.

“Yes, but not the answers I was hoping for. Though I’m sure you already know what happened to her seeing as you know what I was doing.” She began fidgeting with her fingers in her lap nervously.

“I heard that your sister has been dead for about a week. I am sorry for your loss Red.” I tell her sincerly.

“It’s Jamari.” I glance over at her in confusion. “My name…it’s Jamari.”

“Woman Warrior…fitting name.” I say in appreciation, watching as a bluch graces her cheeks. Interesting.
