18: Whispers from strangers

Kayla’s POV

“ Just leave it there-“ I heard a woman say.

“ – she’s waking up” a voice, more high-pitched than the former said.

“ Oh…I thought she would never wake up” another voice said.

“ Aubrey stop being so bitter. She’s just a girl”

These were the whispers my ears picked up as I was starting to wake up. I knew I was awake but for a while, I couldn’t get up even if I was dying to know where I was.

All I could remember was feeling so much grief and rejection that I wanted to erase my existence, I wanted to get away from it all, from Aidan and Redwolf pack. I didn’t care about the rain or the fact that I would suffer a terrible cold afterward, I just ran and ran and ran until I got to the place my father had placed me to protect me.

I fell to my knees and wept so bitterly, wondering why Aidan would reject me after everything he knows I’ve been through. He was saying to his mother earlier that he would not reject me, only for him to come into my room some moments later acting like
