Forty-one: Staking his claim

Amelia stared at Ryan, blinking rapidly because at that moment, her brain decided to go off and she was short of words.

Slowly, she pushed the door closed and pressed against it, lowering her gaze from the man because, with the intensity at which he was glaring at her, she could have been dead if only he could shoot lasers from his eyes. Her heart was beating rapidly, while she cooked up an answer to his question.

Ryan took a few steps towards her and her eyes instantly snapped up to meet his, her erratically beating heart speeding up some more.

“Answer me, Amelia. Where. Have. You. Been?”

“I… I was out with a friend,” she instantly responded without second thoughts but the moment the words left her lips, she realized her mistake.

She had no friends in New York except Cookie who had returned to school and Ryan knew that.

“Mmm…” he growled, covering the distance between them, his lips curling in a smirk. “And who is this friend that I don’t know of?” he asked, staring down at her.

Amelia needs help emotionally and mentally especially allowing Ryan to abuse her that way and she gets aroused by it. Ryan has a sick mind and needs psychiatric help for his possessiveness and obsession

Thats a double standard coming from someone who just came from a divorce. Why Amelia is allowing Ryan to abuse her? I dont understand her mentality. She is an enabler of an abusive person
