Blaire's short strides patted along behind me, down the stairs and toward the back of the house. Most of the wolves were outside, some playing with their pups, but others keeping watch. Luther stalked back and forth, wearing a thin path in the kitchen of the house. I watched him from the barstool, tracing the coiled veins of his forearms with my gaze and reimagining the night before as he spoke to someone on the phone. He was angry, and damn me to hell, if it didn't turn me on. After his domineering touch, the calluses that skimmed my skin … it made me hot all over again. The conference room was full when I walked through the threshold. A neighboring pack, The Blood Moon Pack, mingled with my own. I was thankful they were willing to fight, but I felt the realization of just how difficult it would be when I saw the numbers.
