Chapter 9

"WHAT?! Are you kidding me?"

Joshua had already guessed what expression Clarice would show him. It was a pleasure to see her beautiful face surprised. He smiled wryly, then shook his head.

"I'm not joking at all, Clarice. Whether you like it or not, you have to marry me. Because if you don't, I will ruin your life."

His threat was no joke. Clarice heard how Joshua emphasized his threat, making her imagine what would happen if she refused and chose to have her life destroyed by him.

After all, how could she marry a man who was the older brother of her late boyfriend? To her, it was tantamount to betrayal, and Joshua should feel that way. But seeing his expression of no guilt or grief made Clarice question whether Joshua's kindness to Joel had been a trick.

"Well, marrying you is one of my wishes, Clarice. And I won't let you refuse. After all, you wouldn't want your family to be ruined by your decision, would you?"

Clarice's body shook violently. She wanted to fall and die.
