Chapter 3

Author: Moore
Darren angrily ordered the guards, "Have Princess Sylara taken to the Reflection Chamber."

I instantly panicked. "I'm begging you—please don't do that, Darren! I need treatment right now; otherwise, I'll die!"

I had never before lowered myself to entreating them so desperately.

Mom instinctively spoke up, saying, "It's just a small dispute between sisters, Darren, so there's no need to—"

Darren cut her off coldly, saying, "Sylara intentionally made a scene today to humiliate Elara, so she deserves some discipline, Mother. You can rest assured that I'm just making her cool off for a night—no harm will come to her."

Father furrowed his brow but ultimately did nothing to intervene.

Caelum cast a look in my direction and tried to reason with me softly, saying, "You should take a moment to cool off, Sylara."

I wanted to defend myself, but my throat was already swelling from the allergy. I couldn't even get a single sentence out.

In that instant, the guards stepped forward and dragged me from the banquet hall by force, all while the blood from my leg trailed across the long corridor. I managed to gasp out a plea for help as I fought to hold onto a stone pillar. "P-Please let me see a healer… I don't want to die…"

In the end, the heavy stone door shut anyway, sealing me inside. I collapsed onto the floor, struggling to breathe as my consciousness began to slip away.

Father and Mother had both watched me drink that wine. They knew about my allergy, but they completely cast me from their minds the very next moment because of Elara.

I stood up again after being driven by a desperate urge to survive and pounded frantically against the stone door, but the outside remained completely silent, with no one offering any reply.

In the meantime, blood continued to seep from my injury, rapidly soaking the hem of my white dress red and pooling on the cold stone slabs.

I could hear the revelry in the banquet hall carrying on without interruption, its lively sounds bleeding faintly into the stone chamber. Father was announcing to the gathered nobles that Elara had become the new Sacred Huntress, while Caelum stood at her side, accompanying her through the final dance of the night.

Those in attendance didn't even realize that I, the firstborn princess, was actually locked away in the dark by her own family, on the verge of dying.

In my semi-conscious state, I thought I heard Wren crying out for me.

Third Person POV

In the meantime, the celebration remained in full swing as the nobles gathered around Elara to offer their congratulations.

There were numerous maids carrying in gifts delivered by the nobles—gold crowns, jewels, an ivory longbow, silver-etched daggers, and other gifts were piled high, occupying half the room.

Elara clung to Vaelis' arm, a sweet smile plastered on her face. "Please don't accept any more gifts, Vaelis—there is barely any space left in my room."

Darren swirled the wine in his wine glass and said indifferently, "You can just send the leftovers to Sylara; after all, she doesn't own anything worthwhile."

In that instant, a brief hush washed over the crowd as it dawned on them that they had never once prepared a proper gift for Sylara; she always ended up with Elara's leftovers. She was the firstborn princess and the reasonable one, so everyone merely assumed she would never take issue with it.

Elara, oblivious to the sudden silence around her, kept speaking insincerely. "Sylara is the firstborn princess, so she shouldn't use what I've already rejected, Darren. She'll just misunderstand me again if she learns of it."

Vaelis fell silent for a brief second before abruptly ordering, "Have the Azure Crystal of the Sea God set aside for Sylara."

That was one of the most valuable gifts of the night, a necklace crafted from polished deep-sea blue crystals that cast a faint blue glow under the lights.

Elara could no longer maintain her smile and protested petulantly, "I like that necklace, though…"

Vaelis comforted her patiently, saying, "Oh, be good now, Elara. You have more than enough jewelry as it is, and Sylara rarely gets anything like this. You should leave this one for her."

Elara turned slightly pale. She hadn't expected Vaelis, who had always favored her, to suddenly receive the most precious gift for Sylara.

She wanted to argue, but Aldric's expression darkened as he said, "You shouldn't be so covetous, Elara. You have received more than enough tonight."

Elara suddenly realized she had nearly lost her temper. She quickly lowered her head as tears welled up in her eyes, saying, "I didn't mean it that way. If Sylara wants them, I am perfectly willing to hand over the remaining gifts to her."

Aldric's expression eased. "It's alright. Sylara has been delicate since childhood. She might be allergic to some of the perfume and jewelry."

Vaelis stood up abruptly after hearing that. "Did Sylara drink that wine earlier? Darren has her locked up in the Reflection Chamber. Is Sylara going to be okay?"

Aldric caught on as well, his expression shifting in sudden alarm.

"What are you talking about? What do you mean by allergy?" Darren, however, was still utterly confused. He just happened not to see Sylara drink the wine earlier.

Caelum bolted outside without saying anything, intending to reach the Reflection Chamber as fast as possible, while the other three followed right at his heels.

Elara grew displeased. "Where are you all off to when my celebration banquet isn't even over yet?"

They ignored her completely, though.

Yet, before they could even step out of the banquet hall, a guard came stumbling inside. "It's an emergency, King Aldric! The Reflection Chamber has suddenly caught fire!"

I had just stepped out of the room when Elara lunged forward and gripped me fiercely. She looked completely furious, her eyes burning with resentment and madness. "Why did you have to come back after leaving? You came back just to ruin everything!"I gently shook off her grip and replied calmly, "I only returned to treat Mother.""You're lying!" Elara bellowed hysterically. "You came back for the sole purpose of robbing me of everything I have! Father and Mother had finally stopped thinking about you, and Caelum had almost forgotten you! You stole everyone's attention the moment you returned!" Upon seeing this, one of the attendants from Lunara Sanctum stepped forward and slapped Elara hard across the face, yelling, "How dare you speak insolently to the Chief Sanctress!"Elara remained defiant despite being slapped, maintaining a constant stream of curses and shouting.Father's expression turned cold and stern; all his previous indulgence toward her entirely vanished. I donned the silver mask that symbolized divine authority and performed the divine healing arts in Mother's bedchamber as the sun set. It was conducted with great solemnity, and everyone remained entirely reverent, not daring to be even a fraction careless.I went back to my chambers at the temporary residence once the ritual was over and instructed someone to discreetly call Wren over.Wren was visibly anxious when she arrived, constantly keeping her head down as she didn't dare to meet my gaze.I gently called out to her, murmuring, "It's me, Wren."Wren looked up and finally saw my face clearly. She rushed forward and threw her arms around me, her eyes brimming with tears, while her voice choked with emotion. "It's really you! You're finally back, Princess Sylara!"Yet, before we even had the chance to speak further, someone forcefully pushed the door open. That person was none other than Caelum. He looked haggard, his eyes heavily bloodshot and full of desolation. He was abso

Upon learning of the appointment, I tried to decline several times, feeling completely anxious. "I lack sufficient experience and have never managed a large-scale ceremony. I am not fit for this major responsibility, High Priest Aldous."High Priest Aldous stepped forward and said with absolute certainty, "You must have faith in yourself. You share a natural connection with the divine will, your spirit is pure, and your past hardships have shaped your exceptional composure. Your talent is obvious to everyone here."He looked at me and continued, "Your past trials are not chains, but the very source of your strength. You should act with confidence, as you are fully worthy of being Chief Sanctress."Upon seeing the steady trust in High Priest Aldous's gaze, I finally understood that I had long since broken free from the mire of Auremount, gaining my own glory and a new life. I ceased my hesitations and officially took up my duties, conducting all kinds of rituals as the Chief Sanctres

I boarded the sacred flagship of the Athenveil Temple, leaving behind all the mistreatment and neglect I had endured in the past in Auremount.I stood at the front of the ship, silently watching Silvergate Divine Harbor fade away. I felt no reluctance to leave, only pure liberation. I withdrew all my affection for the Aurenmount royal family from that day forward. They had never loved or valued me, so I would no longer degrade myself to win their favor. If no one else loved me, then for the rest of my days, loving myself would be enough.I had only just recovered from my allergic reaction, and my injuries were still aching faintly. I was already exhausted from the long journey, so before long, my vision went black; I could no longer hold myself up and fainted straight onto the deck.I regained consciousness and found myself lying on clean, soft bedding. I noticed that there were a few composed elders standing by my side, led by the visiting priest of Lunara Sanctum. He noticed I

Sylara's POVI was locked in the Reflection Chamber, and my allergic reaction grew increasingly severe. I was just on the verge of collapsing when something suddenly stirred on the floor in the corner of the chamber, and a few stone slabs were slowly pried open from underneath, exposing a dark, pitch-black hole. Wren crawled out from the opening. She was covered in dust as she held a small porcelain vial tightly in her hand. She rushed to my side, supported my weak body, and frantically twisted open the cap of the vial. She was crying while her voice was trembling, yelling, "You have to stay awake, Princess Sylara! I managed to steal this anti-allergy tonic from the healer, so hurry up and drink it!"I couldn't even utter a single word because of how swollen my throat was, so I could only rely on her help to laboriously swallow a few mouthfuls of the tonic. It tasted extremely pungent and bitter, but it genuinely eased the suffocating pressure in my chest, and the sensation of

Aldric and Vaelis hurriedly stepped forward, their eyes widening in surprise when they saw the corpse. "Is this actually a maid?"Vaelis covered her mouth as tears streamed uncontrollably down her face. "Where is Sylara, then?"Darren moved in to look, his expression turning grim. "That door was locked from the outside. How could a maid have gotten in? How did Sylara get out?"It was then that an attendant standing close by bowed and murmured timidly, "There is an abandoned secret passage beneath the Reflection Chamber, King Aldric. Princess Sylara may have escaped through it."Aldric's worry disappeared in an instant. He tried to speak, but nothing came out.Elara stood behind the crowd, a trace of disappointment flashing across her face. She then spoke in a voice that carried a hint of sarcasm. "You all can stop crying now. Sylara is just hiding on purpose to watch us run around in a panic. She knew we would worry, yet she still staged this fire and risked someone else's life.
