Chapter 5

Author: Chubby Mushroom
All our mutual friends knew Janet and I were supposed to be best friends, so when they saw her post, they immediately came to me.

"Was Janet throwing shade at you? What happened between you two?"

In my previous life, I had been the one who brought Janet into my social circle. The rich guy she had her eye on back then was someone she met through my friends.

However, once things went sour between us, Janet turned around and trashed me everywhere. She spread rumors, drove a wedge between my friends and me, and slowly took them all for herself.

This time, I made the first move. I put on my sweetest, most innocent act.

"It's like this. Janet's been renting herself out online, and I've tried to talk her out of it. She got a little upset…

"You all know she's been wanting a rich boyfriend. To keep up appearances, she wanted to borrow my real designer bags, but I said no. That was why she posted those things."

I even shared Janet's post with them so they could see it for themselves.

At the end, I gently said, "However, honestly, I was probably too harsh. I'll just apologize to her later."

My friends were stunned.

"Wait, so she's the one acting fake and then accusing you? Those bags cost tens of thousands. Why should you just hand them over? You've spoiled her too much."

"Seriously, that's messed up. Renting herself out online? How is that any different from selling herself?"

I kept up my act, softly defending Janet. I told them her family background was not great, that she was just trying to earn money and build a better life for herself.

They all knew how well I had treated her before. I bought her meals, took her out, and even lent her new clothes.

Compared to Janet's post, they quickly took my side instead.

"You should be careful. Janet might be using you. Honestly, she's probably just after your money. Being friends with someone that materialistic, you need to watch out."

"If she can stab you in the back today just because you wouldn't lend her a bag, who knows what she'll do to you tomorrow?"

At the same time, they made it clear they did not want anything to do with Janet anymore.

Just like that, I cut off Janet's chances of borrowing designer bags from anyone.

Sure enough, with no other options left, Janet came back to me and apologized.

"I was being emotional that day. I shouldn't have said those things.

"I know you've always been the best toward me. And now I've got many people online trying to book me. I really need to buy some real luxury items to keep up appearances. Can you lend me some money?"

The rich heir screamed and dropped to a crouch, clutching his face in pain. However, Janet did not stop. She abandoned the badly injured girlfriend, grabbed a jagged piece of a broken bottle, and lunged at him again.Blood sprayed across the floor. The chaos only ended when the police finally arrived and restrained Janet, who had completely lost control.None of that surprised me. Janet's deep insecurity had always made her unable to handle even the slightest provocation. In my previous life, she poured all that resentment and imbalance onto me.This time, it was directed at the rich boyfriend she had dreamed of for so long.As the police dragged her away, Janet finally noticed me standing there. Her face twisted with rage as she glared at me."Ella, you backstabbing snake! You came here just to watch me fall and kick me while I'm down. I won't let you get away with this!"After shouting, she even tried to break free from the officers and lunged at me."Why? Why is this happen

Seeing Janet act so shamelessly and completely out of control, the rich heir could not help but sneer."I was just planning to have some fun with you. Didn't expect you to actually think you were something special."Then, he did exactly what I had wanted to do all along.Using his money and connections, he got access to the club's giant screen. Right there, in front of everyone, he played everything. The explicit photos. The videos. Every piece of evidence showed how Janet had been selling herself online.A wave of shock rippled through the crowd. People stared at Janet, whispering, pointing."She looks so pretty. Who would've thought she was doing that online…""She's probably got something. That's disgusting…"The rich heir, used to doing whatever he wanted, saw how helpless Janet looked and got even more arrogant. He climbed onto a table and shouted over the music."Everyone, take a look. For just 2,000 dollars, you can take this woman home for the night. Don't miss out on a

However, Janet refused to admit anything.Since her full face was not visible, she pushed all the blame onto 'AI edits' and denied everything. She even made a big show online, saying she was going to call the police and hold someone accountable. Her performance was convincing. However, behind the scenes, she still came crawling back to me."Ella, do any of your friends know my boyfriend? Can you help me find him?"I played dumb, acting curious. "Didn't you just announce your relationship? What happened? Did you two fight?"Janet forced down her impatience as she replied, "It's nothing serious. Can you just help me find him?"I acted generously, saying that for old times' sake, I would help her this once. The moment I hung up, I called a few of my gossip-loving friends."You guys heard, right? Janet and that rich guy had a fight. She's been looking everywhere for him, trying to figure out what's going on."One of them immediately spilled the truth."What else could it be? He f

She even sent screenshots of our chat to her boyfriend, telling him I had been badmouthing him behind his back. The rich heir got so mad that he had someone send me a warning."Watch what you say. If I hear you talking nonsense again or find out you're messing with my girlfriend, I won't let you off."I let Janet keep chasing attention online, playing her sweet, innocent act.Meanwhile, without drawing any attention, I continued flirting with her using the fake rich heir account.[Hey, beautiful. Got time lately? Why have you been ignoring me?]The relationship Janet posted about was actually hidden from those other men. So, many of them had no idea she already had a boyfriend. At the same time, I kept using the other account, the one posing as a sleazy rich guy, sending her money and gradually buying more of her explicit photos. After gaining her trust and becoming one of her regular clients, I finally made my move.[So, how much for a private video call?]Janet named a five

By then, I was completely used to Janet's pettiness and her habit of holding grudges.I sent a calm reply.[So, what's your new money-making method this time? Bring me in on it, too.]Janet's ego instantly shot through the roof.[Someone as plain as you? With that face? You should be grateful you don't scare people, and you still think you can make money?][Stop dreaming. Making money takes looks. Just stay home and keep living off your parents like a useless burden.]Since she was so smug, I could already guess what had happened. She had finally achieved her dream and latched onto a rich heir. However, even then, Janet had not given up her shortcut of making money with her body.As long as someone sent her money, she would send back new private photos.Meanwhile, I quietly and carefully gathered evidence of all the transactions she was hiding. On the surface, Janet was still the glamorous, untouchable socialite influencer. With a little push from me in this life, it did not

Riding the wave of attention she got from backstabbing me, Janet quickly deleted all traces of her old 'renting herself out' posts. With her follower count rising fast, she successfully rebranded herself as a high-society influencer. She kept posting those carefully curated updates: dressed head to toe in designer brands, posing in upscale locations, snapping photos, and uploading them online.Even if she never mentioned renting herself out again, those polished, socialite-style photos alone were enough. I was sure people were still reaching out to her privately, asking for her rates. To test my theory, I created a fake account and sent her a message.[Hey, can I get your contact?]Just in case she ignored me, I even sent her a small transfer. The moment she saw money, she replied instantly.[Hey, handsome, it's not convenient to chat here. Add me on Messenger so we can talk privately.]I immediately set up a Messenger account and added her.As soon as we connected, Janet sent
