Since he had left the Porter family, only Holly haunted his thoughts.

Her joyful teasing, her playful pouts, the way she looked up at him, her smiling eyes filled with affection.

The memory of their intimate moments lingered.

Luke was aware that Holly had been giving him the silent treatment these past few days, upset over his reluctance to marry.

Luke could not bring himself to give in to Holly without a fight.

To him, dating Holly was something he did willingly, but marriage? That was a whole different ball game. It was never even on his radar.

He thought giving her the silent treatment for a few days, showing off how well he treated Cecilia right in front of her, might make Holly step back and drop her wild ideas.
