LUCY.

“Alpha Ellison is the worst nightmare that anyone could ever come across. It was rumoured once that he was the devil that had come to dwell among mere mortals like us….” The lady dressing me up began. She had been ordered to take me away after I signed the contract of been the Alpha’s breeder and she was addressing me as it was my first time in this world. “The worse is his hatred for woman. He sees women as a tool to satisfy his sexual cravings and trust me, you are not an exception.”

She put on my necklace. Why should I bother myself with such information? Truth is, I do not care about the king. I am only here for the sake of the money that would be paid to me and nothing else. I don't care how many women graze his bed, provided I get my salary as agreed, he can fuck a dead body for all I care.

“You are going into his room now to serve him coffee, so make sure to be cautious of your steps and move.” she cautioned, and I gave a single nod.

I took a good look at myself in the mirror and scoffed. It was a damn expensive dress that I'd never dreamt of having on throughout my life.

While the lady watched, I walked out of the room and entered the corridor that would take me to the kitchen to prepare his coffee. All eyes fell on me as I walked by. The candidates taking the screening will soon be here and would serve me too, especially, the short lady that quaked me to the floor. I would love to have her as my servant so she would know how it feels to be humiliated.

I entered the kitchen, and the chef walked to me immediately. “I want to prepare coffee for the Alpha King.” I said to her, and she shuddered. Did I speak harshly? Was it a crime to prepare coffee for the Alpha King? “Just show me the things needed and you can get back to your work, I won't bother you again.”

She finally nodded and began showing me the kettle, cup, beverages, and so many other things, and then I began brewing his coffee.

I was just concentrating on what I was doing while the maids stood at the side whispering to themselves. I didn't want to talk to them, but not until I heard something that made me give them a sharp glare, and they all went mute.

What was that for? My eyes narrowed. I tried to guess why the statement was made.

“Did one of you just say that I'd be kicked out like the others?” I asked no one in particular, but they knew I was talking about them. I let go of the spoon I was holding and turned at them fully; my arms folded to my chest. “I need you ladies to say something. Why will I be kicked out?" I asked again.

With my facial expressions, they knew I wasn't playing some jokes with them. I heard them say that vividly, so I needed clarification on why they would say something like that.

The chief chef that had come to me previously came closer again. “My Lady, you're not the first one to be the assumed Alpha’s breeder, in fact he changes them every week and we’ve lost count of how many has been here before you. Coffee preparation is what he uses to test them all, and they fail. That's why we assume you would fail, too, because no one knows the secret of his test.” he elaborated, unable to raise her brows.

Was that it? Accepting the offer is one thing, and passing his internal test was another thing. I exhaled and faced the kitchen cabinet. I can't lose becoming a palace servant and also miss this. If I do, I will have no hope in my life again, and my mother will be dead in the next three weeks.

I turned to the chef who was still standing behind me. “Don't worry, I know what to do, I will come out victorious.”

“I would not agree with that!” one of them standing by the corner said.

“There’s no way an ordinary Omega will pass the kings test, when betas, deltas, and gammas and even the daughters of kings didn't.” Another added.

They all agreed to it and believed that I wouldn't pass the test. And trust me, at this point I wanted to agree with them.

“Beta Sharon even became the Alpha’s mistress because she didn't pass and she wouldn't leave shamefully given her father's status in the pack.” The chef uttered while returning to the others.

This was going to be tougher than I think, but I will conquer it. No way am I leaving this palace until the deal ends. Over my dead body!

When the coffee was done, I filled the Alpha’s cup and left the kitchen with it. I reached Alpha's room and rang the doorbell before opening the door and striding in.

On the center table, I placed the tray that bore the cup and bowed to him. “My king, I brought your coffee.” I said to him as he stood at the window, looking out. For a few seconds, he did not spare me a glance or say a word, so I carried the tray closer to him and stood beside him. “You must be worried. And I understand that as a king that is common. The coffee will help calm your nerves.”

He turned to me, staring at the tray for some time, and then he took the cup. I felt so nervous, but I pleaded with my wolf to calm the fuck down so she doesn’t embarrass me. We want this role and the money, and we won't lose a dime.

The king finally took the cup and within a few seconds, the cup was empty, and he placed it back on the tray again. And I waited for a compliment that never came. Didn’t he enjoy it? Oh shit! Was the sugar too much? Or was it the way I served him?

“My king, is there anything else I could do for you? Maybe I could help massage your feet or back, as it would ease your mind as well.” I didn't dare look at him, I was only trying to pass the test, not sure if I was doing the right thing or if I was supposed to leave immediately after he finished the tea. Oh my goddess, I hope I haven’t jeopardized everything with my busy body? “If there's none, then I'd go wash up the cup and send for….”

“Tell the lady that dressed you up to change your clothes. She would understand, and make sure to be here within two minutes.” he cut me short.

What does that mean? I didn't know how I felt at that moment, nor was I able to tell what was going on. I still wanted to hear that I passed the test because I was still trembling.

“Yes, my king!” I bowed to him and walked out slowly. As I walked to the kitchen doorpost, I was kicked and quaked at a time, causing the cup to slip out of my palm. The sound of it shattering on the floor resounded in the corridor, drawing the attention of everyone.

I stared at the pieced cup, sparkling gold like never before. My heart already sank into my belly. I looked up to see who it was that quaked me, and it was a girl my age with gray eyes and black long hair resting on her shoulder.

Without being told, I guessed one thing since her attire wasn't like a servants, she was the Alpha's mistress.

Lucy.A loud noise startled me, something slammed, maybe a door. I jerked upright, heart pounding. I felt groggy, disoriented, like I hadn’t really slept at all. Light poured into the room, too bright, too sudden. I groaned and reached out, grabbing a pillow to shield my eyes from the glare. Then it all came rushing back.I was in my father’s house.A quiet joy bloomed in my chest, warm and unexpected. A smile spread across my face as I remembered where I was and who I was becoming."Now, I don’t know what decent folks think they're doing, but that right there? That’s pure madness! If it was just rabble, I’d understand, but you say what happened now? I’m still tryin’ to figure it out!"I let out a sharp breath, startled. My eyes flew open. Ella, my maid, was standing in the bedroom, mid-rant. My pulse jumped. For a second, I panicked, thinking someone else might be here. But after a quick glance around, I saw I was alone.King Ellison was gone.Relief washed over me. He’d been here la

Lucy.I didn’t know how much longer I could endure this. My thoughts were spinning, my chest tight with pressure, and every fiber of my being screamed for escape from the suffocating fog I was trapped in.“Is he really my father?” I asked, my voice breaking as desperation clawed its way into my words. I turned to her, searching her face. “The man in that photograph… is he my real father?”My mother’s face drained of color, years of buried sorrow etched into her features. She didn’t look at me right away, her eyes remained downcast, as if avoiding the truth could somehow delay the inevitable. But eventually, slowly, she met my gaze. Her expression was drenched in grief, and I knew what was coming before she even spoke. I wasn’t ready for it, but the truth was already unraveling. She let out a long, trembling breath. Her voice came out soft, heavy with remorse. “Yes, Lucy. That man is your biological father.”The words struck me hard, like a blow straight to the stomach. My pulse pounde

Lucy. The air in the slave quarters was suffocating. It smelled so foul, like something had died and no one bothered to clean it up. Anyone stepping in here for the first time might think they were hiding corpses. I had come back after a long, draining day, my whole body aching from the punishment I had been given for going missing. But honestly, I was used to it. Pain was a part of life here. It came with the role.My only mistake was letting myself wander too far from the work I was assigned. My mind had been too full of questions, thoughts that didn’t belong to someone like me. A slave wasn’t supposed to think beyond the moment. But there was something I had to know, something that had haunted me for as long as I could remember. The punishment had come quickly and harshly, just like always. A few bruises, a few cuts. That was it. Nothing worse than before. I could handle it. What I couldn’t handle was the unanswered question in my head.I needed to know if the Alpha king was really

Alpha Ellison.I sat in my study, completely overwhelmed. My chest felt like a huge weight was pressing down on it, and my thoughts were spinning in every direction. Everything in my life was falling apart faster than I could keep up. Lucy and the twins were gone. Just... gone. No note, no warning, nothing. Had she left me for good? Or was she hiding from something or from me? I couldn’t wrap my head around any of it.And as if that wasn’t enough, I was now caught in the middle of a whole new mess with Aurora. She came out of nowhere saying she was pregnant with my child. How could I have been so careless? Now what the hell was I supposed to do? The timing couldn't be worse. But it didn’t stop there. Oh no. Ivy barged in here too, not just asking for money, but demanding I make her my Luna because she had the damn pack lock. The audacity. Like she could just walk into my life and take something that doesn’t belong to her.I slammed my fist down on the desk. Papers flew everywhere, but

Aurora. The search had taken longer than I ever anticipated.Trekking through the dense forest felt like it would never end. Each step was heavier than the last, not just from exhaustion, but from the growing realization that this wasn’t just any forest—it was a place reserved for outlaws and the disgraced. And yet, given my mother’s complicated past, I wasn’t shocked to find her here. Troubled, yes, but not surprised."Are you certain she’s close?" I asked one of the guards beside me. He looked sickly, pale with dread, though he tried his best to keep up appearances. I could see clearly he wanted to be anywhere but here."Yes, my lady," he answered, his tone firm but his eyes betraying the anxiety beneath. "We should be very near."I was about to press him further when I saw her.My heart slammed against my chest as I pushed through a curtain of branches into a clearing. There my mother was, crumpled near the riverbank. A groan of pain escaped her lips. My chest tightened as I rushed

Lucy.I couldn’t feel my legs anymore. Each step I forced through the dense forest felt like dragging stone limbs, my muscles screaming in resistance. Hours had slipped by since I’d started running, clutching the twins close, their small bodies pressed against me like fragile secrets. All I could do was run. Flee from the past. Flee from them. I knew the moment anyone caught a glimpse of the babies in my arms, it would be over. They’d be taken. Sold off.For a long stretch of time, the twins were quiet. Their soft, rhythmic breathing became the only sound keeping me anchored. But as the orange tint of sunset bled through the trees, that stillness shattered—broken by their piercing cries. Their wails were sharp and desperate, slicing through the forest like sirens.“Shhh... it’s alright,” I whispered frantically, my voice brittle and uneven. I glanced around wildly, heart pounding. “Please, please stop crying,” I begged them, but their screams only rose higher, more frantic.I stumbled
