Zheme set the pancakes and the syrup on the wooden table, a blatant frown on his lips, a tenuous pain in his heart and the sad look that had been on Lexie's face haunting his mind.
Her eyes had held so much pain, but her expression was what depicted her augmenting lugubriousness, the tears that left her eyes, the cries of hurt that left her lips...Zheme saw and heard them all, but all he could do was ignore them when he really wanted to just...just hold her.
She had looked so vulnerable, so hurt and yet all Zheme could do was bestow upon her, more pain, more sadness, more of everything she obviously didn't want.
If she really hadn't hated him before, then she must hate him now. After all, he had broken a promise that even he never dreamt of breaking, but alas, what is done is done, he can never reverse time, but maybe he can make up for making such a terrible mistake by leading her on a path of happiness when
Zheme sat her in his lap by the table, pulling the dish closer. "Here Kitten, eat."With tears in her heart, Lexie took ahold of her fork and started doing just what she had been told... She ate and when she was done, she turned to look at him, eyes still red and not withholding anything but the pain of his betrayal. "I'm full."Zheme nodded at that, lifting her and taking her up the flight of stairs to their shared bedroom. "I already ran you a bath." He sat her on his right knee, using his now free hand to twist the knob and push the door open. "Take a shower and I'll be waiting for you on the bed."He placed her on her feet on the bathroom floor and watched as she staggered further inside without uttering a word. This wasn't his Lexie, his Lexie had never been this quiet and this obedient before, his Lexie had never looked at him with such eyes before, but maybe it was because she —his Lexie— had never been this hurt before. Her pain was almost tan

Lexie forced herself to swallow the last piece of chicken on her plate, then glared up at Zheme who was currently washing his dish. His back was turned to her, broad shoulders shifting along with every movement of his hands.Three days had passed since he had locked her in the dungeon, and oh, how she wished she could just stab him in the neck, or in the side, or better yet in the head, after all, thats where his sickness was...in his damn head.Since breakfast, he kept ordering her around, kept demanding control and Lexie just wanted to shove something down his throat. He had taken enough from her, her trust, her heart and now he wanted her submission. He'd get submission alright, but only until Lexie found out how to screw off those bars off of those damn windows."Lexie, bring your plate."Lexie's glare intensified, he didn't even ask if she was finished with it, but either way, Lexie rose out of her chair, grabbed her plate and brought it to him.
Zheme gained consciousness as soon as Lexie's knee connected with his stomach. His eyes found her sleeping form and in disbelief, he shook his head. Every morning she'd kick or hit him somewhere, involuntarily waking him out of his sleep while she still slept peacefully and it wasn't fair, he liked sleep too. With a groan, he sat up in bed, now noting that the sun had rose, filtering through his curtains without his permission and audaciously illuminating his room. Though it was beautiful, he wasn't ready yet, not for morning that had already swept across the land and he wasn't ready, not when it came on to facing his father. He wasn't sure what the future holds, but he was adamant on trying, just like his mother did. If he failed, then he failed and if he succeeded then perhaps happiness would finally be his. Shuffling to the edge of the bed, he hopped off, trudging to the bathroom where he
"She's pregnant."Pregnant..?Zheme's eyes widened, face supporting a dumbfounded look. "Pregnant...?"The doctor nodded, shoving his hands in the pocket of his coat. "She's two weeks pregnant, thus the starting of morning sickness, isn't that happy news?""Happy news? How could this be happy news when I'm pregnant for him of all persons?""For me of all persons?" Zheme looked over at Lexie who sat on the hospital bed, a hurt look crossing his face. "What's wrong with me?""You're a...a..." She groaned, palm clinging to her still aching head. "Never mind."Zheme frowned. "I think I have the right to know.""But I don't have to tell you.""You do.""I don't and I won't, so j-"The doctor stepped between them, face blank. "Sorry for intruding, but there are other patients in need of my help." He offered Lexie a seal bottle of pills. "Here, take them in the morning before you eat, they're
Lexie sat in the living room, eyes tranfixed on Dan who watched her with blatant curiosity.Zheme had just dropped her off and without even clarifying if she's okay or not, he left. But too bad, Lexie would use this to her advantage. Dan was here now after all, he could help her, he had promised to, so why not grasp the chance when its in the midst of her palm?Clearing her throat, she opted to talk, however Dan spoke before her. "Did you manage? To change him I mean."Lexie shook her head. "No and that's why...that's why I want your help. You can still help me right?"Dan nodded his head, clasping his frail hands in his lap. "Of course girl, I told you I would and I had warned you that you wouldn't be able to change him, those rules were engraved in his head since he was 9, how could you possibly erase them?"Lexie shrugged, eyes becoming watery. "I don't know, I just thought...I thought...I thought he'd keep his promise, I thought I cou
With a dense pain in her heart, Lexie sat in the back of the driving car.She was finally away from that house, that prison, that cage, she was finally free, but why instead of being happy, she felt sad?Why instead of felicity, there was a heavy weight of lugubriousness resting atop of her heart? Why?Was it because she broke two of her promises in just one day?The first- to change him before she ever thought of leaving and the second, to stay with him...forever.Or perhaps it was because she was leaving without a part of her intact. Her heart...The organ still only beats for him, the damn thing still cared for him even after all he did to her...why?Lexie couldn't understand, she wanted to hate him, she wanted to hate him so bad, but she just couldn't and that made the pain of his betrayal all the more heartbreaking.Sighing, the soft palm of her hand caressed her stomach. It was still as f
As Zheme drove, he couldn't help but look back at the hiccuping girl, her eyes were downcast, hands clasped in her lap. She looked pitiful, sad, scared and it was all because of him, because of what he did to her.Back then while doing it, he felt no regret, but now since his actions induced such fear within her, he was lost in an ocean of lamentation. He shouldn't have broken his promise, he shouldn't have slapped her, instead he should have found another way to protect her, should've known that standing up to his father was the only way out. But because of his incompetence, she couldn't even look him in the eye and that fact tore through his heart.Sighing, his fingers wrapped tighter around the steering wheel, eyes straying from her vulnerable form as he grumbled out a subdued... "Lexie..."Lexie's eyes darted up, lips trembling as another sob broke through. "Y-yes.""Why did you have to do it? Couldn't you have been a bit more patient
