Chapter Eleven

Mom looks at me, tears streaming down her eyes as she walks away from me, my siblings rush to her side as they all take turns looking at the certificate.

“Are you joking Lena?” Daniel asks, his voice booming. I look him in the eyes, “I’m married now Daniel and you all will just have to accept that” I retort, my eyes softening as I look at my dad who’s busy comforting my mum.

“I’m sure there must be a reason behind this, Lena won’t just do this” I hear dad say to her. Mum wipes her teary eyes, “why did you do this? Did you not think we’ll support you in your choice? Were you planning on eloping and had some pity after giving it a thought”

“Mom…” I manage to say, before being cut off by the doorbell. “I’ll get that” I say, dashing to the door, giving me an opportunity to leave the stressful environment I just created.

“Sorry we aren’t not in the position to have visitors, please come another time” I say as I open the door.
