Fifty-five: Golden Opportunity

Ryan had rushed home when his search for Amelia at the office turned out to be futile. The urgency in his steps as he got into the house had his head spinning, but he didn’t care. All he wanted was to see Amelia and to confirm she hadn’t left like he feared she would. But his fears came to life when he stepped into their bedroom to see all of her stuff was gone from the dresser.

His heart slammed hard against his chest as he approached the closest with slow steps scared to accept the truth that was glaring at him.

She couldn’t leave. He kept telling himself but the moment he opened the door to the extravagant closet, he saw a half of the space was empty and all of Amelia’s clothes were gone. His heart sank, the truth finally dawning on him.
