Seventy-one: Curious kitten

Amelia returned to Sylvia, with the picture of her mom still clasped tightly in her palm while she struggled to come to terms with her conversation with Jian. Absentmindedly, she sat on her seat and kept the picture in her bag, not wanting to bring up the conversation with Sylvia as the woman was on a call when she entered, and hence, wasn’t paying much attention to her.

Amelia pondered the possibility of Jian’s family being friends with her late mom. For as long as she could remember, even at a very young age, her mom had never associated with anyone and when she grew up, Louise had told her severally that she was an orphan and they were all alone and together. Her mom had never mentioned having some friends.

Maybe she moved away and decided to be in isolation after her dad left her high and dry. She wondered, vaguely staring at the plate of food in front of her, without really seeing or focusing on its contents.

That was quite sneaky the way Juan went about getting his information. But I’m happy , he now knows the truth and it wasn’t a long drawn out process in the story
