Welcome Dinner

'You ought to mind your business.' The voice screamed in her head again.

But, that didn't make her walk away. She stood right there, prying on other people's privacy.

Although at a point, she refused to agree that what those two were doing was private since they left the door open. Yet she knew that was a lame mental argument she was trying to put up in her head, just to feel less guilty of what she was presently doing.

Suddenly, Simon moaned quite loudly and clenched his muscles. Watching him from behind was a big torture for Paige already. But seeing those muscles of his move to rigidity drove her mad with want. He finally fell on the bed gasping for air.

And the weirdest thing happened. Simon's partner caught a glimpse of Paige at the door. She smiled lazily before giving her sultry wink.

Quickly, Paige bolted off from the door and found her way downstairs.

After the scene she just witnessed, she knew she needed to create a reasonable amount of distance between herself and Simon Kentley. Once she got to the stairs, she slowed down her step and tried to calm down with her whole body feeling warm and flushed.

Everyone was already seated comfortably in the dining hall except Simon of course. Paige walked in on curious eyes that were firmly focused on her.

Mrs. Kentley, her host and patient, was seated with two other ladies. She noted how stylishly furnished the dining room was, just like every other part of the mansion.

"Oh sweetheart, how are you, you must be exhausted from the long trip." Emily Kentley stood up and gave Paige a hug as a sign of welcome. "Come, come.." she called, gesturing towards the table. "Come meet my daughters." She continued dragging Paige softly to her seat at the table.

"This is Annabelle, the oldest and June the youngest." She announced. "It's June's wedding in a couple of weeks and we all came back for it. The engagement party will take place in two weeks from now." Emily went on a narrative toll as the excitement of the forthcoming event took over. She signaled one of the maids to serve Paige's meal.

"We've all been away from the mansion for years now. Everyone is pursuing their dreams in another state and country. But we all had to travel several miles to be here, as a family, for June, and for closure as well." Emily added with smiles.

"Ta-da!!" June exclaimed, flaunting her ring.

"Ohh! It is so beautiful." Paige complimented at the sight of the gorgeous princess cut diamond engagement ring on her finger.

"Thank you, and it fits so well, doesn't it?" Asked June, showing off her ring some more.

"It does, it is perfect, honestly." Paige confessed.

"Mmm, I think I like you. It is so nice to meet you Paige." June told her.

Showing off a few sets of her teeth in a rehearsed smile, Paige nodded. "It's my pleasure.

"And FYI, you look so beautiful in person than most of those I*******m pictures we saw. Don't you ever consider updating your pictures or at least deleting those ones. Believe me, it's better to have a blank profile than those pictures." June started blabbering, but was cut short by her sister.

"Do not mind June please. She is a social media Queen Bee." Anna spoke for the first time.

"Although" she continued. "I honestly think you could use a page revamp on social media. I could take nice pictures of you when I visit the mansion again if you will permit. Unlike my mother, I live and work at Acubana. It's less than two hours drive from here." Anna added.

"Oh, I know. I passed Acubana while driving down here." Paige said happily.

"You drove down here?" Anna asked, surprised. "But I thought we sent some funds for your flight. It was even stated in the contract that you should take a flight. My brother sent a car to pick you up from the airport this afternoon. What happened? Why did you drive down?" Anna inquired, curiously.

"Yes, I drove down to." Paige started. "I didn't remember to book my flight early enough. So, the flights coming to Yardstin today were all fully booked. I decided to drive down. I love driving anyway." She lied smoothly. Hoping that the ladies at the table believe her.

"Wow!! Now you know why your son has been grumpy all evening. He sent a car to the airport and it came back empty." June said to her mother while laughing softly.

Emily gave her the 'watch yourself glare' while Anna tapped her softly on the thigh from under the table. Clearing her throat, she turned to Paige and started.

"That must have been one hell of an adventure. The type I would really love to experience." She added, a lace of thrill evident in her voice.

Anna flashed a warm smile. She didn't buy the lame excuse from Paige. Yet she didn't want to stress the topic, as it may in turn cause unnecessary tension in the room.

"Yeah, I think I'll love to experience such too." Said Anna. "Although I'll still suggest that you pay attention to the agreement you signed Paige." She added sweetly, with a smile.

"Enough of the talks please." Emily injected. "Now, I'm glad that you all are getting along. Paige, you must meet my son, he is the cutest human ever." Said Emily with pride.

"Indeed!" Anna chipped in, followed by a choking laughter from June.

"You should drink some water Sweetheart, we don't want you choking." Came the soft deep velvety-masculine voice from the dining hall door.

"King Simon finally joins us for dinner. Oh! How lovely of you sir. Please step down your highness and take a seat at your high throne." Anna said sarcastically.

"Mhhm, such a kind gesture from his Royal highness. We feel honored, my lord." June added and Paige almost choked on her food as she tried suppressing the raging laughter threatening to choke her.

Sarcasm never felt better and she had a feeling she was going to miss the Kentley sisters when they finally left. Simon took his seat comfortably at the head of the table and one of the maids dished out his food.

"Why is she staying on my floor?" He asked no one in particular, but his eyes rested on Paige which made her feel uneasy.

"I felt she would get enough rest and quiet over there. You are rarely around and one of her hobbies include reading. So, we figured she might enjoy the calmness. And there is the garden right outside your corridor." Emily replied.

"How did you know that Mrs. Kentley?" Paige asked, surprised.

"Well that's on me." June said, raising a finger. "We went through your social media accounts while trying to find out a few things about you. Kindly note that the 'we' used in this context does not include my brother. He is hardly interested in his own life, not to talk of someone else's." Said June.

"Wow," Paige mouthed. Thank you so much for going through that much stress to make me feel comfortable." She said looking at everybody at once. She wanted them to know that she was grateful to all of them.

"At least I know that her favorite colors are yellow and orange." Simon said lazily.

"I have a feeling you said that because she is wearing both colors. You know nothing." June cut him short.

Paige flashed her best smile as she remembered the scene that played out upstairs where Simon played a lead role.

"Do you always dress like that?" He asked, cutting through her wild thoughts. "I mean do you always dress in very bright colors, even at night, You could pass out for a sunflower." He said with a straight face.

Once again, Paige faked a sweet smile. She decided to see his question as a rhetorical one, and as such requires no answer as she had no plan whatsoever to offer any. Besides, it's her right to wear anything she feels comfortable in.

Desperate to maintain a sweet and nice gesture, she widened her smile.

The conversations at the table kicked off with everyone talking about something while Paige's attention was captured by the handsome man with the perfect body who was seated not too far away from her.

She couldn't stop staring at the movement of his lips, his bulging biceps, the movement of his throat when he swallowed.

"Paige!" Anna called touching Paige slightly.

"Yes, what?" She replied trying to catch up with the conversation on the table.

"We were asking if you don't like the steak. You haven't eaten much of it." Said Anna. "We can have the chef prepare something else for you if you don't like it."

"Oh no, I love it, it's nice." Paige replied, taking a large bite of her steak.

The devil was right there, staring and smiling. And when she met his gaze, he didn't look away.

On one occasion, he bit his lower lip seductively, sending cold shivers down her spine.

When she finally retired to bed that night, she dreamt that she was with him in his bed and he took her in every way she could imagine.
