My gaze was fixed outside the window when I heard a commotion outside, yet I didn't seem bothered by it. I have seen too many commotions to care anymore.
A knock swiftly came through and without a word, Rowan pushed the door open.
“Alpha!” He called as he stood behind me. My gaze was still fixed outside the window.
“There is a girl outside that is insisting on seeing you and even though we have told her countless times that she can't meet you, she is fierce and persistent”
I finally turned around, my gaze was dark as it pierced through him.
“You are saying that you can't get rid of an ordinary girl?” I was almost smitten by these words.
“I can. But I think she might pique your interest”
“Why is that?” My brows furrowed.
“She is the daughter of Alpha Aiden” At the mention of that name, anger crept in. I clenched my fist hard, trying so hard to fight the rage.
“Alpha! Tomorrow is the full moon and all of a sudden, his daughter shows up here today, determined to see you…..”
“Are you saying he might have found out?” My gaze pinned right at him and he did not dare finish his words.
“Alpha! I have no clue why Alpha Aiden's daughter would suddenly visit, but clearly, whatever the reason might be, it is not going to be good”
“Yet! I am curious! Bring her in, I want to know what this is about”
“Alpha…..” his gaze flickered.
“Come on Rowan, you can't be afraid of a mere girl” A smirk appeared on my lips. But Rowan wasn't having any fun.
“Go get her in! Let's hear what she has to say!” I insisted again, this time, he lowered his head and stepped out of my room.
As soon as he was out of my room. I walked over to the wine cellar. Grabbed one of the expensive bottles of whiskey and carefully poured it right into the glass.
I wasn't sure what this was about, but somehow I felt like this was certainly going to be interesting knowing how long I have been at war with Alpha Aiden.
Both packs had stayed away from each other's territory, avoiding war, of course I was the last person he would want to go to war with.
And now, he had sent his daughter which made me wonder what game he was going to play now.
As the door swung open, a slender and tall girl stepped in, her eyes were red like she had been crying, but behind that. There was fire in them, driven by sheer determination.
“Alpha Kade!” She called and locked eyes with me, even when she did. She maintained eye contact.
No one has ever been bold enough to look me in the eyes, not even my beta, and just when I thought she would return to her senses. She walked up closer to the table and spoke.
“Alpha Kade Hart!” She called out with so much audacity. Never have I met such a girl, her eyes filled with fury like one who had seen death countless times and wasn't afraid of it again.
I turned around slowly, letting my Alpha aura press against her, testing her. As I carefully placed the glass of whiskey on the desk, my eyes trailed over her from head to toe, assessing.
Then her scent hit me.
Pure-blood!!
My eyes widened, my wolf surged forward so violently I nearly shifted right there. After five years of searching, five years of growing more feral with each passing full moon.
Five years of watching my humanity slip away piece by piece, she'd walked into my territory on her own.
My eyes suddenly locked with Rowan who was at the door, like he knew exactly what was happening, and he immediately mindlinked me.
‘Alpha! This is a trap! Don't fall for it’ he warned, but how could I not fall for it, when her scent was everything I had ever searched for, everything I had craved for knowing that was the only way to get my humanity back.
“What do you want?” A soft growl escaped my lips but I quickly pushed my wolf back. That was enough to make her scared and trembling, yet her gaze never left mine.
The more I stared at her, the more intrigued I was. If this was a trap Alpha Aiden had set for me. Then no doubt he made perfect preparations for it. Because I was falling right into it.
I settled into my luxury armchair, and somehow I could already tell that this was going to be very interesting.
“Alpha Kade, I know you're a busy man, so I am going to keep this very short." She paused, meeting my eyes with an intensity that made my wolf growl in approval.
“Go ahead, I am listening!” I commanded.
“I want us to get married!” She blurted and even while she did, there was not a flicker of emotion in her eyes.
Author's povWhen Aiden first saw Celine at the party, he was more than furious, she had been the secret to how well his pack had been flourishing, both her talent and her blood were always useful.Which was mostly why he made sure she never went out on events, the last thing he wanted was for others to discover her, that would be a huge problem for him.But then he wasn't bothered again, she was about to humiliate herself and once she did, he was certain that she would be punished by the Matriarch and would never be allowed to show her face in any of these events ever again. But all of a sudden, is he painting she had gifted the Matriarch, Johnson who he thought was loyal to him had suddenly confirmed its authenticity.“This is not good!” George mentioned but Aiden didn't want to hear it, he could already see that it was not good. Both of them were silent as they watched the matriarch rise to her feet. Now, every single person was curious to know what was going to happen.“Your name
Celine's povGrowing up as the adopted daughter of a powerful Alpha, I had to do many things and learn things that were way above my age.For me, that was my own way of paying for adopting me, on several occasions, Father had taken me to the orphanage, like it was a reminder of how fucked up my life would have been if he had never adopted me, and made me grateful. While trying to be useful to the pack, I came to realize that the work of art was a valuable talent in the pack. Every Alpha wanted the best artist, they all wanted all their territories sketched and drawn on the wall like it was a trophy. But in truth, it was the trophy and glory of every pack. The first day I met Johnson, I knew that I needed to learn from this man.He lived and breathed on art, A man who could picture a woman, and even with just a description, he would get the perfect portrait of her. Every time he visited the pack house, I was always so excited because I knew that day. I would be learning new things.
Author's povWhen Jessica had prepared her gift for the matriarch, she had one goal in mind, she needed her gift to be the best among every other gift that would be present today. And when the matriarch commented about her among every other person in the hall, she thought she had finally achieved it.But all of it came crashing down when Celine had brought a gift that had awed everyone including the Matriarch herself.Jessica's face had lost its color in anger, she could not take it, her mind kept trailing around where Celine might have seen such a piece. An artwork even the matriarch claimed she had been searching for and couldn't get her hands on which could only mean that it was very expensive.Jessica knew for certain that even if Celine had found the piece, there was no way she would be able to afford it since she didn't get paid for any work she did for the pack.Which means she doesn't have money and because of that, Jessica had immediately concluded that either Celine had sto
Celine's pov:As Damien and I sat at the same table, Damien kept pecking glances at me, but his eyes were cold and filled with questions, yet I didn't care about any of it. My eyes kept flickering around, searching for Kade, but he was nowhere to be found. “Here, have some drinks?” I had been too engrossed thinking about my plans and had forgotten all about having a meal or drink at the party. “Thank you,” I smiled at him and accepted the drink, holding it by the tip of my fingers, but just as I raised it close to my nose. I was immediately alerted.Although the scent was normal, as it was supposed to be for such a red wine, somehow, my instinct wasn't sitting right.I had no clue when the wine was brought in or who the server was. But I knew that I would definitely be stupid if I went ahead and drank it.I let my lips touch the glass and as I did. I noticed his gaze kept peaking at me from time to time. That only went ahead to confirm my suspicion.Even when his gift was mentioned
Chapter 24:Author's pov:Jessica sat with a group of friends, all from distinguished families; their fathers were either an Alpha, a Beta, or a chief in the Alpha council. They were the league that Jessica could always be seen with. But even though she was there. It felt like her gaze was fixed on Celine and Damien, who were seated at the table opposite theirs. “I thought you said he would be breaking up with her soon. Why did he bring her here?” Tracy who happens to be her best friend had noticed her mood since Celine stepped into the hall and couldn't help but askJessica bit her lower lip, trying so hard to fight the anger. “I have no clue what is going on. To think that he had bought her such an elegant outfit and gave me this shabby dress”“Why does it look like Damien is enjoying his relationship with Celine and you are just the third party”Sharon suddenly chimed in, knowing she never went eye to eye with Jessica. Jessica chose to ignore her at a time like this.“What if the
Celine's povI came to a halt in front of the hall, let out a deep breath, and then swung the large wooden door open, and then, I was staring at the large hallIt was so large and filled with sophisticated people from different packs. The hall was decorated in a very grand style, although on several occasions, Jessica had told me about it and how she enjoyed the party. But standing right here now. It felt so overwhelming. Yet I knew I had come this far. The moon goddess had given me a second chance and if I wasted just a second. I might end up where I was before. I began walking inside slowly. All eyes were on me. Jessica who was previously engrossed with her friends immediately rose to her feet. She rushed out towards me, just as she stood before me trying to reach out for my arm, her eyes slowly trailed down to my outfit and I could see it in her eyes. Jealousy! She was so jealous that her eyes had turned bloodshot red, yet she still managed to force a smile on her face.“You loo
