Eira’s POV
Seeing Kieran there made my heart race with panic. She had jumped by herself, ensuring he saw her fall. She was framing me for something I hadn’t done.
Wasn’t he supposed to be in the dining room? He had been waiting for me there. Why was he here now?
Even though Vanessa had fallen of her own accord, Kieran would believe me, wouldn’t he? He knows I would never do such a thing. I wasn’t that kind of person.
“Vanessa!” he shouted, rushing to her side without sparing me a glance.
I froze at the top of the stairs, and my breath caught in my throat. He cradled her in his arms as she clutched her belly, tears streaming down her face with calculated precision.
“Are you alright, Vanessa?” he asked, his voice filled with fear and concern.
“Our pup,” she whimpered. “I didn’t mean to come between you two. I even suggested leaving. Now harm has come to my baby. Maybe it would’ve been better if you got me a house outside, away from here. I don’t want to make the Luna uncomfortable.”
Her words were laced with an innocent veneer, but the accusation was clear. She was implying I’d pushed her.
“It wasn’t me,” I whispered, my voice trembling. “I didn’t do it.”
But when Kieran looked up, his eyes burned with rage. “You pushed her!” he snarled.
Before I could defend myself, he stormed up the stairs and shoved me hard. My balance faltered, and I tumbled down.
“You should know what it feels like to be pushed down the stairs,” he yelled, standing above me with fury etched on his face.
I hit the cold marble floor with a sickening thud, pain shooting through my body. But the physical pain was nothing compared to the sight of him cradling her, whispering reassurances, his hands gentle and caring.
I lay there, broken and discarded, watching as the man who was supposed to be mine poured all his love into someone else.
And at that moment, I made a silent vow. This wasn’t over.
If he dared to treat me like this just because of her, I would find a way to make him regret it.
My whole body ached as I tried to stand, but a sharp pain shot through my leg, making it impossible to get up.
“Calm down, Vanessa. I’ll take you to the pack doctor,” Kieran said, lifting her into his arms.
From over his shoulder, she smirked at me, triumph written all over her face. She had won this round, again, without me doing anything wrong.
I felt a warm liquid trickle down my forehead. Touching it, I pulled my hand away and saw blood on my fingers.
“The Luna must’ve been jealous, but she’s hurt,” Vanessa said in her fake, innocent tone. “Shouldn’t you take her to the doctor too? She’s still the Luna of the pack, and I’m sure she didn’t mean to push me. She’s just jealous of me carrying your baby.”
Her words didn’t surprise me anymore. She hadn’t come here because she was pregnant; she had come to take my place.
“You’re too kind, Vanessa, especially to someone who tried to harm your baby,” he said, his tone dripping with contempt as he glanced back at me. “You were just let out, and already you’ve done something unforgivable. You’ll be locked up again—this time, for longer.”
With that, he walked away, all his attention focused on Vanessa, who was grinning ear to ear.
If he hated me so much, why did he want me by his side? Why not let me leave?
The thought made me sick. His words and actions were nothing but a web of lies.
Clutching my torn dress, I bit my lip until I tasted blood. If he wouldn’t let me leave, I would find a way out myself.
*****
Just as Kieran promised, I was locked up again. This time, it was in the attic, a place long abandoned and forgotten.
The attic was dark, with only faint light filtering through cracks in the wooden roof. The air was thick with dust, making it hard to breathe. The wooden floor creaked with every step, and cobwebs hung in every corner, giving the space an eerie, neglected feel.
Boxes were scattered around, some sealed, others spilling over with old, forgotten belongings. The walls were cracked, paint peeling in jagged streaks. The entire room felt cold and lifeless, as though it had been untouched for years.
By the small window sat a bed—cleaner than I expected. I walked over, sinking to my knees on the mattress, and stared out the window. The dim light from outside was the only brightness in the room.
Pressing my hand to the glass, I peered down at the maids gathering outside. Life went on without me, as though I didn’t exist.
I touched the bandage on my head and sighed. It had been so long since I felt my wolf. Without her, I healed slower than any normal werewolf—an Alpha wolf, no less.
Her absence had to be tied to Kieran’s constant cheating, something I’d brushed off as a sickness in our bond. Maybe she’d sensed his betrayal long before I did, and I’d been too blind to see it.
“I’m such a fool,” I muttered, staring out the window again.
Below, the maids stood in a straight line, as though preparing for someone important.
“What’s going on?” I wondered aloud.
A sleek car pulled up, and a man stepped out of the driver’s seat to open the back door. I craned my neck, trying to catch a glimpse of the passenger.
Another man stepped out. His dark hair, streaked with silver, caught the light as he adjusted his gloves.
My eyes widened in shock. “The Alpha of the North?”
Everyone knew Magnus Ironfang. His presence was magnetic yet intimidating. His sharp features, ice-blue eyes, and commanding aura made even the strongest wolves submit.
Why was he here? The last I’d heard, he and Kieran were sworn enemies.
As I stared, his piercing gaze lifted, meeting mine through the attic window. My breath hitched. His icy stare seemed to slice right through me as if he’d known I was watching all along.
His lips parted slightly as though he wanted to say something, but then he shook his head and looked away, heading inside as the maids bowed in respect.
“What was that about?” I whispered to myself, retreating from the window.
I collapsed onto the bed, confusion swirling in my mind.
Magnus POVAs soon as I asked the question, I watched her freeze. Her expression didn’t crack—Eira was too composed for that—but the flicker in her eyes was enough. She was caught off guard, and for someone who had built her rules so carefully, that meant something.“No,” she said finally, her voice firm but quiet. “I mean I’m not here to repeat old mistakes.”She didn’t deny still loving him.And maybe I didn’t expect her to.I leaned back in my chair, letting the silence stretch. If she thought I was going to push her, she was wrong. I didn’t need to. Kieran had left enough damage behind—I could see it in how she held herself, in the clauses she’d added, in the fire behind her eyes every time I read one aloud. But I wasn’t Kieran. And I was going to make sure she knew that. The way she tried to explain every clause was... adorable. The sound of her voice was like music to my ears, and I just wanted to hear her flutter as she scrambled for the right words.“Right,” I said finally. “S
Eira’s POVThe longer the silence stretched, the more nervous I became. What if he rejected the rule? Could I really stay here, knowing I’d have no equal footing in the pack—that he’d always be right, no matter what he did?I couldn’t believe I might have to leave this pack… the one I had just joined.“As long as you come here with me, you won’t be a decorative Luna. You’ll have equal footing. It’s normal,” Magnus said, his voice so casual it made my eyes widen.“What?” I blinked, stunned. He agreed?“You heard me,” he muttered, eyes locking with mine. “We’ll both have equal standing—if you become my wife.”His words brought a strange sense of comfort. Kieran would never have agreed to something like this. He always insisted the Alpha deserved the utmost respect, even from his own Luna.I shook my head and lightly smacked my cheeks, earning a questioning look from Magnus, which I ignored. I needed to stop comparing every man to Kieran.Maybe I’d overthought everything.“Fifth—I'll hav
Eira’s PovHe doesn’t care about finding his mate? What does that even mean? She’s probably out there—waiting, hoping that her mate will come and claim her, so they can finally be together. But the thought barely had time to settle before a bitter ache twisted in my chest. Finding your mate doesn’t mean a happy ending. I should know.I’m living proof of that.My mate and I went our separate ways. The bond? I broke it.And now… there’s no going back.“We’ll discuss this later,” Magnus said flatly, cutting off his aide. “We have a guest at the door.”I flinched.Of course, he knew I’d been standing there the whole time. No use pretending. Before either of them could move, I knocked lightly, then pushed the door open just enough to peek inside.“Can I come in?” I asked, my eyes falling on Magnus behind his desk. His aide stood beside him, frowning like I’d just tracked mud into a sacred place. He didn’t like me.Couldn’t blame him. Who would like the woman who used to be mated to your Al
Eira’s Pov“Dress or pants?”The brown-haired girl held up a blue dress and a pair of pants, flashing me a bright smile.I hesitated, my eyes darting between the two. I had no idea which to choose. For the past hour, she had made me shower thoroughly, and now she was waiting for me to pick an outfit. That was something Fiona used to do for me. Thinking of her now, I felt a pang of worry. Was she okay at that pack? Had her mate taken her away since I was no longer there? I just hoped she was alright.“Dress or pants?” she repeated, this time her smile faltering. “Are you okay?”I quickly nodded and pointed at the pants. “The pants are fine.”She studied me for a moment, clearly unconvinced, but didn’t push. Instead, she placed the pants on the bed, along with a white shirt and a blue leather jacket.“Do you need help getting dressed?” she asked.I shook my head and picked up the pants. “Nope. I’ll be done in a few minutes.”A few moments later, I stood in front of the mirror, fully dre
Eira’s POVWatching the car drive past familiar places in the pack made my heart ache. Though I wasn’t originally from here, I had grown to love it. Even after leaving my own pack, I had preferred this one. However, I now regret that decision. If only I hadn’t merged the two packs, I would have had a place to return to. But that wouldn’t have mattered—Kieran would never have let me go, and he would never have agreed to divide the packs either. It had been years since my father’s death, and the packs had become so intertwined that separating them now was nearly impossible. Most of the influential members had already left after I ignored their warnings against the merge. This was all my fault. Now, I was on my way to another pack to be their Luna. But would they accept me? I had no history with them, no factual background, and after changing my appearance, I was nothing more than a stranger Magnus had picked up. A woman with nowhere else to go.Would they welcome me?Not only that. Kier
Eira’s POVA gasp escaped my lips, and my eyes widened in shock. I hadn’t expected him to get violent so suddenly.Magnus tightened his grip, his voice a deadly whisper. “You don’t get to tell me when to stop.”Kieran clawed at Magnus’ wrist, his face turning red from the pressure. Magnus leaned in, his eyes burning with rage.“If Eira isn’t here by tomorrow, safe and unharmed, I will burn this entire pack to the ground. Do you understand me?”Kieran gasped for air, nodding frantically.Magnus released him, letting him collapse onto the table, coughing and wheezing. Then, without sparing another glance, Magnus turned to Vanessa.“You should pray your child isn’t a boy,” he said darkly. “Because if he inherits his father’s weakness, he won’t survive long.”With that, he straightened his coat, casting one last disgusted look at the two of them before turning to me.Holding out his hand, he waited for me to take it. “Let’s go. We are leaving this pack for now.”Raising my head, I took hi
Eira’s POVAs soon as the words rolled off Magnus' lips, Vanessa flinched, her eyes widening in shock. She looked as if she had been shot.Kieran didn’t look good, either. His face was stunned, clearly not expecting something like that.“Are you going to say some greetings, or…?” Magnus asked, intentionally trailing off to give them a chance to respond to the question he had just asked.I peered at the two of them, waiting for their reaction. Magnus had asked about me, and I wanted to hear what excuse Kieran would give for my disappearance. He hadn’t told Magnus about me vanishing yesterday, and I was sure he wouldn’t do so now, either.“The Luna isn’t back yet,” Kieran muttered, looking like he had regained his composure.I listened, waiting for him to give whatever excuse he had prepared, but he hesitated, his brows furrowing as he tried to fake sadness.“She got caught up in a rogue attack and is injured. She won’t be here until she’s fully healed,” he added, making me flinch. My e
Eira’s POV“Get up and get dressed,” he said, rising to his feet, an expressionless look etched on his face. “It’s 11 a.m. There’s a dress for you in the wardrobe. Change into it. We’re joining Kieran for breakfast.”Those words made me freeze. Having breakfast with Kieran again was a nightmare I didn’t want to relive. He would be dining with Vanessa, and facing both of them was the last thing I wanted. It would be even harder to face Vanessa—she was the main reason I had been locked up in the first place.“Is that really necessary?” I asked Magnus, hoping he’d say no. But he shook his head, watching me with a hint of suspicion. His expression seemed to ask, ‘Are you sure you can handle this when you're still terrified of facing him?’“Yes,” he replied. “It is. We’re still leaving today, though.”Without giving me a chance to argue, he headed for the door. “I’ll be waiting outside. Be quick.”With that, the door slammed shut, and his scent lingered in the room. Why did it feel even he
Magnus’s POVA soft snore caught my ears, and I slowly turned to look at the woman lying across from me on the couch. Was she asleep already?Getting off the bed, I dropped the facade of sleeping and headed for the window. Outside, I could see guards patrolling the place—tons of them.I hadn’t mentioned to Eira that Kieran would feel the bond shatter, leaving him clueless about how it broke. He must be feeling a sense of loss right now, and it was quite entertaining to think of him searching for a Luna he wouldn’t even recognize when they met again. Finally, something interesting was happening to me.Now that she was with me, there was no longer a need to deal with Kieran. Since the business was originally her idea, I could work with her directly instead of going through him. He handled the business exchanges even though he had no real understanding of the idea.Being his foolish self, he had also cheated on the perfect woman he could have had by his side. It wasn’t surprising that he
