Now, when I said I thought he was going to be alarmed, I meant it. I really did. But what came as a bit of surprise to me was when his reaction came as the opposite of what I expected it to be.

‘Oh, that,’ came his reply, as if he just came to a realization. It was the neutrality to his tone that got me to the reality of the situation.
