I slowly started to come to and open my eyes, but when I did, all I saw around me was pure darkness. As I tried to move, I could feel that my entire body felt as though it was being restrained by something all around me.
As I moved around and tried to get free, cracks of light formed all around me as what looked like walls broke away, blinding me with light.
I tried to look around after it was gone, but my eyes were still adjusting to the room's brightness. Finally, as my eyes came into focus, I looked down at what was left of what I was trapped inside and to my shock, I was sitting inside half of an eggshell.
As I kept looking, I noticed my arms and legs were much shorter and stubby, and the rest of my body seemed to be the same, 'What the hell happened to my body?! Even my skin is a milky white now!'
While I was completely confused about what was going on, a giant woman walked over to me, picked me up, and cradled me in her arms. I looked up at her face and saw she had yellow eyes, a slit pupil, long flowing brown hair, the same milk-white skin I now had, and a beautiful face that looked overjoyed to see me.
I tried to talk, but I couldn't form words; all that came out was nonsense, 'Who are you?' "Ah waa." I realised I couldn't speak. My mind started going while from everything that was happening to me.
All I could do at the moment was try and figure out what was going on. 'Okay, I need to keep calm. The last thing I remember before this was falling down a hole and blacking out.'
Following that line of thought, I looked up at the woman holding me as she smiled brightly at me, 'Wait, did I die after I lost consciousness? If I did, then that would explain why I woke up to find myself so small I fit in the arms of a beautiful woman. I was reincarnated then. I read a couple of books about it, but I never thought it was actually real.'
The woman holding me then walked over to a chair in the corner of the room. She sat down with me and wrapped me in a blanket that was next to her.
As she wrapped me in the blanket, I looked around at where I was. The room looked like a warm bedroom with some pieces of furniture dotted around and a pedestal where the egg I was inside was placed.
As the woman held and cradled me, a child came wandering into the room. The child had the same brown hair and yellow eyes as the woman. When he saw the woman holding me, his face lit up, and he ran over to us, "Mommy, did the new baby finally hatch?!" She smiled at him, "Yep, this is your new baby sister!"
As she said that, the child couldn't have looked any happier, but I was more focused on what she said, 'Hold on, did she say, SISTER?! I was reincarnated as a girl!?'
The child kept smiling at the woman and me, "What's my new baby sister's name!?"
The woman smiled and laughed slightly at how fixated the child was with me, "We haven't given her a name yet. She only just hatched a few minutes ago. What do you think we should name her?"
The child stopped and went into deep thought, "Hmm, well, she has Mommy's brown hair and Daddy's magenta eyes... how about Sasha?"
The woman smiled, "That's a perfect name for her. We'll name her Sasha then." While they were having a great time talking about my new name, I was still trying to come to terms with everything, 'Why did I have to be reborn as a girl...?!'
The woman slowly got to her feet, "Shall we introduce her to your dad and big brother then, Tom?" He vigorously nodded his head in agreement and then went running out the room. The woman laughed slightly and then looked down at me, "Let's go and meet your Dad and big brother then."
She walked out of the room. It led out to what looked like a network of cave tunnels. All along the walls was an unusual type of lantern I'd never seen before.
They looked like they'd put a glowing ball in a lantern, and the ground was levelled and decorated with what looked like seamless wood panels.
The only part of this that still resembled a cave was the walls and roof, but despite that, the environment was warm. Usually, inside a cave, it feels cold and damp, but this place was warm.
After a while, the corridor opened up into a large cavern. The cavern was a large open space with natural stone pillars coming down supporting it. Inside the room, sitting around a large hand-carved table, was the child I saw earlier, waiting eagerly around the table for the woman and me. Also sitting around the table was another child and a grown man.
The man, from what I could tell, looked like he was tall. He had black hair, magenta eyes, and very delicate facial features.
The other child looked like he was about seven years older than the other one. He looked like what you would imagine the man with black hair would look like when he was a child. The only real difference between the two of them their age, and the child had the same yellow eyes as the woman holding me.
As the woman walked closer to the table, her excitement grew until she called out to the man, "Walter!" The man looked over at her, "What is it, Crimson?"
"It finally hatched!" Walter's eyes grew wide and lit up as he looked down at her arms to see her holding a bundled-up blanket. He rushed over to us in moments. He looked down at me while brushing the blanket away from my face.
I looked at him, staring each other in the eyes, and I thought, 'So, these are my parents then? My Mother looks like she fell straight from heaven, and my Father looks strong despite his soft face.'
Crimson handed me over to him as they smiled at each other, "We decided to call her Sasha. Tom came up with it. Isn't it just perfect?"
"So we have a daughter this time?"
"That's right. She even has your eyes."
"You're right, but she looks just like you." As they had a sweet and loving moment with each other, the older child came up to us and started trying to get a better look at me.
As he did, Walter lowered me down so he could see, and our eyes met. "So this is my new sister, then? She's so small, and she looks weak."
I couldn't help but feel annoyed at his comment, 'Let's see how strong you look after just being born.' As I breathed an irritated huff at his comment, a small flame came out of my mouth instead of just air. The site of it startled me, 'Did I just breathe fire?' As I looked around at the three of them surrounding me, they all had a look of shock on their face.
After his initial shock, Walter smiled, "I guess our daughter is going to be a very powerful dragon. Newborns don't normally get their first breath until they're a week old." I looked at him in pure surprise, 'I'm a dragon?!'
As they were talking, I started to feel tired. Just being reborn and breaking out of an egg had taken its toll on me, and I fell asleep in Walter's arms.
Walter looked at me to see me fast asleep. Seeing me sleeping in his arms made him happy, "Enjoy your rest."
After half an hour of walking, I started questioning if Tasha really knew her way to the market square, "Are you sure we're going the right way?""Yep! I'm 90% sure!""What about the last 10%...""I'm 100% sure!""..."We wandered around, aimlessly getting deeper into the city. After a while, I was sure Tasha didn't know where she was going, "You don't know where we are, do you? This looks nothing like the area near the market square.""I'm sure we're close...""Should we ask one of the patrol guards for directions?""They might get suspicious and send us back!""Wouldn't that be better than being lost?""But we'll be punished!""Fine, then ask someone when they walk by.""But what if they also get suspicious and report us to the guards?""Not everyone is suspicious of us!""You don't know that...""Fine, I'll keep following you for now, but if we don't find it soon, I'm gonna ask someone where to go."Tasha looked relieved and happy that I wasn't going to ask for directions yet, "Yay!
After the guard left, the king looked at Terry and me, "You should bring her up here and let her rest on the crown princess's throne." Terry looked at the king, surprised, "Are you sure, your majesty?" "Of course I am. My son has troubled her greatly. It's the least I can do." Terry then made his way up the stairs and placed me down on the throne beside the king. Once I was sat down, I said to the king, "Thank you." After an hour, the guard returned with two other guards dragging Larry by the arms, wearing special shackles that prevented him from using mana, casting spells, or changing forms. The two guards dragged Larry up to the king and dropped him to his knees. Larry looked up at the king and asked, "Father, what's the meaning of this?!" Without realising it, Larry's eyes were still in their pink state for the king to see, "I can see you actually had pink eyes this whole time." Larry then realised his mistake, "That's beside the point! Why have you ordered your guards to put
Over the next month, the guards set up the barrier like Larry told them to, which kept me from collecting the mana in the air. Finally, after that month was over, it came that time when Larry would normally give me some small amount of food. One of the guards in front of my cell received a call from Larry. When he finished talking, he turned to me and said, "His Highness said he won't be able to make it until later today, and because of your previous attempt to escape, he won't be bringing you this month's ration." I let out an amused huff, "He barely feeds me already. So why do I care if he misses one?" The guard didn't respond and turned back around to continue standing guard. Finally, after a few hours, it came time for the guards to change, but no one came in to relieve the current guard. After a few minutes of waiting, the guards in front of my cell became restless, "The next shift should be here by now. Those two in the evening shift are normally more punctual than this." "J
Larry would come back to the cave every week to try and convince me to sign the contract, but I refused every time. Finally, after three weeks, Larry came into the cave carrying a stale piece of bread, "You've been in here a month now. Aren't you hungry?" "I went two months without eating of my own choice. You really think I'll cave after a month?" Larry smiled at me, "I have to admit, I do admire your spirit. I think you've earned this much, at least." he ripped the bread in half and threw one of the halves into my cell at my feet, "I'll give you the other half next month." He then left the cave. I reached over, picked up the piece of bread he gave me, and took a small bite out of it, 'Tastes awful, but it's better than nothing. But I should ration it for the next month.' After taking just one bite, I put the bread down beside me and started practising my mana control, 'He said I can't use my mana, but what about the mana in the air?' Concentrating, I was able to see the faint gl
As I slowly started to come to, I opened my eyes and looked around the room. I noticed I was in what looked like a cave. After completely coming to, I sat up and had a proper look around. I was inside a cell built into the corner of a cave with guards standing just outside the door to the cell. Feeling groggy along with a headache, I took off my wig and mask and threw them on the ground, "What the hell happened? Where am I?" "You always ask a lot of questions, don't you?" I looked over to my left and saw the man in the crow mask standing outside the side of my cell, "Who are you? Are you the bastard that kidnapped my child?!" The man smiled as he took a few steps to the side, allowing me to see the rest of the cave. As I looked behind him, I saw a pedestal in the middle of the room with my egg on it, "My egg! What the hell do you want?!" "You never stop asking questions. That's something I really couldn't stand when we were together." "Just tell me who you are!" The man faced me
Terry and I spent the next month working together, combing through everything we could find on the three noble families we were looking into, but we couldn't find anything out of the ordinary. While Terry and I were looking through documents in his office, I finished reading the one I had and threw it on the desk, "Nothing! I can't find a single thing that can help us!""Sash, please, we'll find something. It'll just take time.""Terry, it's been nearly two months since our egg was taken from us. I want to get it back.""I do too, but we have time. The child won't hatch for nearly five years. So we have all that time to search.""From what I've seen, we're not even close. It's obvious after looking through all this these families didn't do it!""Then we start again and look for something else to help us.""And how long will that take? I don't want to leave our child's life up to some ruthless bastards who stole it!""What do you suggest we do then? We've been doing all we can. It's jus
