Reborn a new

I slowly started to come to and open my eyes, but when I did, all I saw around me was pure darkness. As I tried to move, I could feel that my entire body felt as though it was being restrained by a cage all around me.

I was completely confused by what was happening, 'What the hell's going on?! Where am I? Why can't I move?!' feeling my entire body being restricted, I felt a strong urge to try and get out.

As I struggled inside the strange cage, I could feel that because of its unusual shape, it was unstable and rocked around as I tried to move. Since I didn't like the feeling of it rocking around, I stopped moving and decided to try and just use regular force to try and break the walls around me.

As I tried pushing my arms and legs out with my back against the wall for leverage, I kept trying to push and break the walls, but I still made the cage jolt around a little, and as I did, I could hear the faint sound of a voice coming from outside.

I couldn't quite hear the voice properly, but I was still able to just about make out one sentence, "I think it's finally hatching!"

I was confused by what I heard, 'Hatching? What's hatching?' I couldn't understand what the voice meant, so I decided to ignore it and continue to focus on trying to get out.

As I used all my strength to push against the walls, I could start to feel a light crack forming under one of my hands. I moved around as best I could and noticed a small line of light coming in from it.

Seeing that small crack gave me all the motivation I needed to push through and use up the last of my strength to try and break free. As I kept going, the crack slowly got bigger until it got brittle to the point my arm went through the wall.

I pulled my arm back in and then tried to push around the hole. But, as I did, the entire cage walls started to crack and crumble, so I gave it one last shove, and the whole top of the cage broke off and fell away.

I tried to look around after it was gone, but my eyes were still adjusting to the room's brightness. Finally, as my eyes came into focus, I looked down at what was left of the cage and to my shock, I was sitting inside half of an eggshell.

As I kept looking, I noticed my arms and legs were much shorter and stubby, and the rest of my body seemed to be the same, 'What the hell happened to my body?! Even my skin is a milky white now!'

While I was completely confused about what was going on, a giant woman walked over to me, picked me up, and cradled me in her arms. I looked up at her face and saw she had yellow eyes, a slit pupil, long flowing brown hair, the same milk-white skin I now had, and a beautiful face that looked utterly overjoyed to see me.

I tried to talk, but I couldn't form proper words, all that came out was nonsense, 'Who are you?' "Ah waa." I then realised I couldn't speak. My mind started to go a million miles a second from everything that was happening to me.

All I could do at the moment was try and figure out what was going on, 'Ok, I need to keep calm. The last thing I remember before this was James kneeling beside me as I slowly lost consciousness after being hit by that truck.'

Following that line of thought, I looked up at the woman holding me as she smiled brightly at me, 'Wait, I would have definitely died after I lost consciousness, and then I woke up to find myself so small I fit in the arms of a beautiful woman. Did I get reincarnated?! I read a couple of books about it, but I never thought it was actually real!'

The woman holding me then walked over to a chair in the corner of the room. She sat down with me and wrapped me in a blanket that was next to her on a small table.

As she wrapped me in the blanket, I looked around at where I was. The room looked like a cave with some pieces of furniture dotted around and a stone pedestal where the egg I was inside was placed.

As the woman held and cradled me, a child came wandering into the room. The child had the same brown hair and yellow eyes as the woman. When he saw the woman holding me, his face lit up, and he ran over to us, "Mommy, did the new baby finally hatch!" she smiled at him, "Yep, this is your new baby sister!"

As she said that, the child couldn't have looked any happier, but I was more focused on what she said, 'Hold on, did she say, SISTER! I was reincarnated as a girl!?'

The child kept smiling at the woman and me, "What's my new baby sister's name!?"

The woman smiled and laughed slightly at how fixated the child was with me, "We haven't given her a name yet. She only just hatched a few minutes ago. What do you think we should name her?"

The child stopped in his tracks and went into deep thought while cutely holding his chin to think, "Hmm, well, she has Mommy's brown hair and Daddy's magenta eyes... how about Sasha?"

The woman's face lit up, "That's actually a perfect name for her! We'll name her Sasha!" while these two were having a great time talking about my new name, I was still trying to come to terms with everything, 'Why did I have to be reborn as a girl...!'

The woman slowly got to her feet, "Shall we introduce her to Daddy and your big brother then, Tom?" he vigorously nodded his head in agreement and then went speeding out of the room. The woman giggled slightly and then looked down at me, "Let's go and meet your Dad and big brother then!"

She then walked out of the room. It led out to what looked like a network of cave tunnels. All along the walls was an unusual type of lantern I'd never seen before.

They looked like they'd captured a ball of pure light in the centre of it, and the ground was levelled and decorated with what looked like seamless white marble tiles.

The only part of this that still resembled a cave was the roof, even the walls themselves had been carved back and smoothed down and painted a light warm brown to make the cave tunnels appear almost like a common corridor, and even the environment was warm. Usually, inside a cave, it feels cold and damp, but this place feels warm and inviting.

After a while, the corridor started to open up into a large cavern. The cavern looked as though someone had moved the living room of a luxury mansion underground, but this time, the cave roof was unlike anything I had seen. There was grass, vines and glowing plants all across it, lighting up the entire room instead of those small lanterns.

Inside the room, sitting around a large hand-carved table, was the child I saw earlier, sitting eagerly around the table, waiting for the woman and me. Also, sitting around the table was another child and a grown man.

The man, from what I could tell, looked like he was tall. He had black hair, magenta eyes, and very delicate facial features but with a sharp jawline.

The other child looked like he was about five years older than the other one. He looked like what you would imagine the man with black hair would look like when he was a child since he had the same black hair and almost the same facial features.

The only real difference between the two of them was that he was a grown man, and the child had the same yellow eyes as the woman holding me.

As the woman walked closer to the table, her excitement grew with each step until she called out to the man sitting at the table, "Walter!" The man looked over at her, "What is it, Crimson?"

"It finally hatched!" Walter's eyes grew wide and lit up as he looked down at her arms to see her holding a bundled-up blanket. He rushed to his feet and speedily walked over to us in moments. First, he stared into Crimson's eyes while smiling happily. Then, he looked down at me while brushing the blanket away from my face.

I looked at him, staring each other in the eyes, and I thought, 'So, these are my parents then? My Mother looks like she fell straight from heaven, and my Father looks strong and intimidating despite his soft face.'

Crimson handed me over to him as they smiled at each other, "We decided to call her Sasha! Tom came up with it. Isn't it just perfect!"

"So we have a daughter this time?"

"That's right! she even has your eyes!"

"Yes, but she looks just like you." as they had a sickly sweet and overly loving moment with each other, the older child came up to us and started trying to get a better look at me.

As he did, Walter lowered me down so he could see me, and our eye's met, "So this is my new sister, then? She's small, and she looks rather weak."

I couldn't help but feel annoyed at his comment, 'Let's see how strong you look after just being born!'

As I breathed an irritated huff at his comment, a large flame came out of my mouth instead of just air, the site of it startled me, 'Did I just breathe fire!' As I looked around at the three of them surrounding me, they all had a look of shock on their face.

After his initial shock passed, Walter smiled at me, "I guess our daughter is going to be a very powerful dragon. Newborns don't normally get their first breath until they're at least a week old." I looked at him in pure surprise, 'I'm a dragon?! I guess that would explain why I came out an egg...'

As they were talking amongst each other, I started to feel unexpectedly tired. The ordeal of just being reborn and breaking out of the egg had taken its toll on me, and before I knew it, everything started to fade away, and I fell asleep in Walter's arms.

Walter looked down at me to see me fast asleep. Seeing me sleeping peacefully in his arms made him smile happily, "Enjoy your rest." He then leaned in and kissed my forehead.
