FAZER LOGINChapter 006
Lola's POV
I had never seen anyone lie so confidently in my life.
Zack didn't even blink.
He had his arm wrapped around my waist as if I had willingly agreed to become his girlfriend.
His girlfriend.
Me?
I stared at him in disbelief. Was this man completely out of his mind?
“Because I already have a girlfriend,” he had just announced.
And apparently, I was the girlfriend.
I looked at his arm around me, then at him.
Then at Ruka, whose face looked like someone had just poured ice water over her.
I almost laughed.
Almost.
Instead, I leaned closer to Zack and whispered through my teeth.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“Play along.” He responded.
“I should play along?”
I smiled sweetly at Ruka while keeping my voice low. “You just introduced me as your girlfriend!”
“I know.”
“And?”
He looked down at me calmly. “And you're doing a great job.”
My eye twitched.
This man was unbelievable.
Before I could say anything else, the door opened. Mr. Miller walked back into the room, his phone still in his hand.
He stopped when he saw us.
His eyes moved from Zack's arm around my waist to my expression.
I quickly straightened.
Zack, however, didn't seem bothered in the slightest.
Mr. Miller cleared his throat. “Is everything all right?”
“Perfectly fine,” Zack replied.
I nearly choked.
Perfectly fine?
I was about three seconds away from committing a crime.
Zack released me and picked up the documents from the table.
“Actually, Mr. Miller, I've made my decision.”
Mr. Miller's expression became serious.
“What decision?”
“I won't be signing the agreement.”
Silence.
He frowned. “Mr Thompson, I don't understand.”
“You invited me here under the impression that we were discussing business.” He placed the papers neatly on the table. “But now I understand that wasn't the only reason for this meeting.”
Mr. Miller's face tightened. “That's not what....”
“It's fine.”
Zack didn't raise his voice.
“I have no interest in continuing an agreement when the other party clearly has a different intention.”
Ruka's face fell.
I pressed my lips together. For once, I didn't have anything to say.
Zack picked up his jacket.
“Have a nice day.”
Then he walked toward the door.
I followed him after packing the document. I tried to catch up with his fast pace.
Once outside, I stopped walking.
I folded my arms. “You've got to be kidding me.”
He stopped on his tracks and looked back. His eyebrow lifted. "Is there any problem? What do you mean?"
I smiled. He knows how to play his cards and act all innocent.
“You just lied to these people that I'm your girlfriend. Now you're ordering me around like I'm your employee?”
“You're making this more complicated than it needs to be.”
“I am?” He asked, pointing to himself
“Yes.”
"Is that why you refuse to smile?" He tried to look calm despite the frustration on his face. "You easily smile around some people, but you are frowning beside me! Calling you my girlfriend should be an honour for you!"
I laughed. “Oh, I'm sorry. Next time you randomly announce that I'm your girlfriend in front of strangers, I'll make sure to smile more.”
For the first time, something almost resembling amusement flashed in his eyes.
“Good.”
I stared at him.
I couldn't believe him.
Then he turned and walked away.
“Zack!”
He didn't stop.
I grabbed my bag and hurried after him.
“You are seriously insane!” I whispered.
He finally stopped.
I nearly walked into him.
He turned around. "I heard you"
I blinked. “What?”
“I heard what you just said. I'm insane, right?”
My mouth fell open.
He walked away again.
I followed him, my temper rising.
“Mr Thompson, what you did isn't professional!”
The more I thought about it, the more I got pissed. He was saying it as if he did me a favour. He didn't feel remorseful at all.
He didn't answer.
My phone suddenly rang; I pulled it out. Before I could check the screen, Zack's phone started ringing too.
He glanced at it.
Then I stopped walking.
I watched his expression change.
“Who is it?” I said inwardly.
He simply stared at the screen, then he sighed.
“Grandma?”
He answered.
“Hello, Grandma.”
A loud voice came through the phone.
Even from where I stood, I could hear her.
“HOW DARE YOU LIE TO THE MILLERS THAT YOU HAVE A GIRLFRIEND?”
Zack closed his eyes.
I covered my mouth to stop myself from laughing.
Grandma continued.
“Bring that girl to my house. Right now!”
Zack glanced at me.
I pointed at myself. Me?
His expression said yes.
I shook my head immediately.
He ended the call.
Then he walked toward me. “Get in the car.”
I stepped backward.
“No.”
“Lola.”
“No.”
“You're coming with me.”
I laughed. “Did you order me around now? Even after working hours?”
“No.”
“Then I'm not going.”
He stared at me for a moment.
Then, without another word, he opened the car door.
I folded my arms.
He looked at me. I looked at him.
Neither of us moved.
Finally, he sighed. “Fine. I will pay triple your salary. Just follow me tonight ”
My eyes widened.
“Don't you dare lie to me!”
He raised an eyebrow.
“You don't want to go?”
I narrowed my eyes. “You're manipulative.” I wished
“I know.”
Damn! This man can be so crazy; he really knows how to trigger my attention. I can do anything for money, but I never expected this.
"You better keep to your promise"
Then I got into the car.
.....
By the time we arrived at Grandma’s house, I was still annoyed with Zack.
But the moment we stepped inside, I almost forgot why.
“Grandma!” Zack called.
An elderly woman hurried out of the sitting room, her face lighting up the second she saw him.
“My boy!”
She pulled him into a tight hug.
I blinked.
This was the same man who could make an entire office fall silent with one look?
Zack actually smiled.
A real smile.
I quickly greeted her, and Grandma immediately took my hands in hers.
“So you’re the girl my grandson has been hiding from me?”
I nearly choked.
Zack groaned. “Grandma.”
“What?” She laughed. “Look at you! You’ve finally brought a pretty girl home.”
I couldn't help laughing.
From there, everything became surprisingly easy.
Grandma asked where I was from, what I did, and how I met Zack. I answered honestly, occasionally throwing in little comments that made her laugh.
When Zack tried to correct one of my answers, Grandma waved him off.
“Let the girl talk. You’ve been talking all your life.”
I burst out laughing.
Even Zack shook his head.
Soon, Grandma was telling me embarrassing stories about him as a child. Apparently, the cold, intimidating man sitting beside me had once cried because his mother refused to let him take a puppy home.
I laughed so hard my stomach hurt.
“Grandma, that's enough.”
“Oh, I have plenty more.” Grandma refused bluntly.
“Please don't encourage her.”
I looked at Zack and grinned. “I want to hear everything, Mama”
He gave me a warning look.
For some reason, that only made me laugh harder.
It felt strange.
I had only met this woman today, yet somehow, sitting there with her felt effortless.
Then Grandma mentioned Zack’s father.
I noticed the smile disappeared from his face. It was obvious Zack was on bad terms with his father.
Before I could think deeply about it, Grandma suddenly clapped her hands.
“Well, enough talking!”
She looked between us with a huge smile.
“Let’s go! You two should get married. Let’s start preparing for the wedding!”

Another message arrived almost immediately.Unknown Number: Don't make me remind you again. My fingers suddenly felt cold. I never expected the mistake I made to become my greatest nightmare. Something that threatened my peace.I typed slowly."What do you want again?"The reply came almost instantly.Unknown Number: You know exactly what I want.My heart ached. For a moment, I struggled to breathe. I could hear my heartbeat. There was nobody there.I looked toward the door; it was empty. A strange chill crawled down my spine. Chapter 009Lola’s POVZack didn't say another word after pulling me away from his father. His fingers were wrapped tightly around my wrist as he dragged me toward the door, and I had to hurry my steps just to keep up with him. I glanced at his face, but his jaw was clenched so tightly that the muscles along it stood out. Whatever had happened inside that boardroom had gotten under his skin, and judging by the way he was walking, he wasn't interested in explaining anything to me.“Zack, slow down.”He didn't.“Mr. Thompson, you're hurting me.”Nothing.We passed the administration office, and several employees immediately looked up from their desks. Conversations died the moment they saw us. I could practically feel everyone's eyes following us as Zack marched through the hallway with me in tow. Then we bumped into Claire. She was holding a stack of documents, but the moment she saw Zack dragging me along, her mouth fell open. Her eyes moved from his hand around my wrist to my face, t
Chapter 008.Lola's POV. I ended the call with Mia so quickly that my fingers nearly slipped on my phone. I lowered it slowly, pretending I hadn't been caught saying anything at all, even though Zack's expression told me he had heard enough. His eyes were fixed on me, cold and suspicious, while I tried to calm the panic racing through my chest."I wasn't talking about you," I said quickly.Zack stepped farther into my office, his jaw tightening. "Then who were you talking about?""No one important." I forced a smile, hoping it would be enough to make him drop it.He didn't. Instead, his gaze moved to the files scattered across my desk, then returned to me. "The board meeting starts in less than thirty minutes. Why haven't you prepared the documents?"My stomach dropped. "I was going to....""Going to?" he cut me off. "That's your answer?"I clenched my jaw. "I will have everything ready.""You should have had everything ready before I had to come here and remind you." He paused, his
Chapter 007Lola's POVMia burst into laughter the moment I finished telling her what happened at the Miller family's house. She laughed so hard that she had to hold her stomach, while I sat across from her with my arms folded tightly over my chest, already regretting telling her anything."Stop laughing!" I snapped. That only made her laugh harder. "I'm sorry, but I can't! Lola, are you seriously telling me that Zack Thompson, the same cold-blooded man who almost worked you to death yesterday, suddenly asked you to be his girlfriend?"I rolled my eyes. "He didn't ask nicely.""That makes it even better!" She slapped her thigh, laughing again. "So what exactly happened? Did he suddenly fall in love with you?""Of course not.""Then why would he choose you?"I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. That was the exact question I've been asking myself since we left the Millers' house. Zack didn't even look like the type of man who would pretend to have a girlfriend just to escape a woman.

Chapter 005Zack's POVMy hands trembled over the keyboard. I could hear my pulse racing, and my lips still felt strangely warm.I just kissed Lola. Why did I want more? There was something about those lips. Even though the kiss had lasted only a few seconds, their softness and the faint taste of strawberries were impossible to forget.Damn! Why was I feeling this way?“Zack!”A loud thud against my desk pulled me back to reality.Leo stood in front of me, staring with a confused expression.“Are you okay? I've been standing here for ten minutes, calling your name, and you looked completely spaced out. It's almost like you saw a ghost.”The corner of his lips lifted into a mischievous smirk as he dropped into the chair across from me.“I saw your secretary running out of here earlier.” He leaned forward slightly. “Tell me, did something happen?”My body tensed.I swallowed hard and adjusted myself in my chair.“What are you expecting?” I rolled my eyes and turned my attention back to
