James and Jade were still standing on the balcony. They appeared to be chatting casually as usual. From Victor's point of view, there was nothing suspicious about them. However, Victor kept his eyes fixed on the two men. Occasionally, he glanced at Dr. Markus, who was busy reading something. Then his gaze shifted to Vivian. I have to find a way to escape this place. If Vivian refuses to come with me, I'll leave her behind, Victor thought. Meanwhile, on the balcony, Jade pretended to light his cigarette. In truth, he still wanted to spend more time out there talking to James. "Something doesn't feel right about that old man," Jade whispered. "Who? Dr. Markus?" James replied without turning around. "No. Victor," Jade answered. James raised his head and turned toward Jade. He looked at him in surprise. "So this is what you meant by being on the same wavelength?" "Yeah. Exactly." Jade fell silent for a moment, taking a drag from his cigarette until its tip glowed red. "Where did y

The brutal groans and pounding against the door of Unit 544 gradually faded away. Now, hunger began to gnaw at Alice.Inside the pitch-black room, Alice curled up on the floor with her back pressed against the door. Her breathing had begun to steady. The tears on her cheeks had dried. She was alone. Tate was not by her side. There was no strong hand to protect her.Alice lowered her head and felt for the necklace pendant beneath her collar. The stone felt cold, yet a faint pulse seemed to travel across the skin of her chest, as if whispering that she must not give up yet.Alice took a slow breath, trying to calm herself."I have to be strong. I'm an independent woman who isn't afraid to face anything," she said. She fell silent for a moment."Did Tate survive? I hope he did."Alice lowered her head. Her eyes swept across the room. An eerie silence filled Unit 544. Alice stood up and wiped the remaining tears from her cheeks."Is it safe here? I hope there aren't any zombies inside thi

Alice cautiously moved her head and peered outside. The corridor was deserted, with no zombies in sight. She slowly opened the emergency door, careful not to make even the slightest sound.Once outside, however, Alice found herself confused. She had lost her sense of direction and had no idea where to go. Ever since she had been separated from Tate, her thoughts had become increasingly chaotic. Yet Tate had given her clear instructions before they parted ways.Alice moved forward cautiously. As she approached the corner, she took a deep breath and leaned her upper body forward to peek around it.The corridor was empty. There was no one in sight. Everything was silent and eerie. Clara's eyes widened as the door nearly gave way. Even the two soldiers there were unable to hold it shut. Panic and fear filled the room. "I don't want to die here," the elderly doctor repeated over and over, greatly annoying the people around him. "Shut up, Doc!" Joe snapped. "Everyone here doesn't want to die either. We all want to get out of this place and, if possible, return to our normal lives!" "One more thing, Doc. I wish I could stop time so things wouldn't get any worse. Or, if possible, turn back time to before the apocalypse happened," Lance added. The door was slammed against again with tremendous force, sending dust flying from the ventilation opening above it. Lance and Joe struggled to hold it shut. "What do we do, Joe? We have to do something, or we'll all die in here!" Lance exclaimed. Joe turned his head. "Hey, you! Stop standing there like an idiot. Get over here!" Joe ordered. The doctor flinched and stood up before approaching Joe. Joe instructed him to h

The utility door creaked softly as Tate pushed it open on the sixth floor. Unlike the floors below, the air in this corridor felt much colder and carried an overpowering fishy stench mixed with the thick smell of blood.Tate signaled Alice to stay behind him while he moved forward, gripping an iron crowbar in his hand. The beam from the small flashlight mounted at the end of his weapon cut through the darkness of the sixth-floor corridor, illuminating walls covered in deep scratches and bloodstains. As the beam moved forward, Alice's breath caught in her throat.Along the long corridor leading to the main elevator on the sixth floor, more than a dozen zombies clung to the ceiling and upper walls. Their bodies pressed against one another as they crawled slowly like giant spiders, their blue veins glowing eerily in the darkness.Their cloudy white eyes fixed on the flashlight Tate was pointing at them. A rumbling, hungry growl echoed from their direction."Tate... I think you should tur

With her life hanging in the balance, she had no choice but to think of a way out.Trapped in this desperate situation, she was nearly out of ammunition, and there was no one else who could help her. The only person who could save her was herself. The zombie, dressed in the exact same uniform as hers, prepared to pounce on her.
