Sandilo’s eyes darted from Grandpops to the steep descent. He was torn between following his mate and leaving her Grandpa alone in this unknown place.

“It is okay, Go and get her…” Grandpops said, taking off his glasses and cleaning them.

“But… Grandpops… This place is not safe. What if the wolves attack while I am away… Vivian will never forgive me…”

Grandpops cleared his throat and said, “What if something happens to her?”

Sandilo wrung his hands. He was really in a great fix. Just when he thought that things couldn’t get any worse, he heard the cracking of the leaves followed by heavy footsteps. His ears perked and he positioned in front of Grandpops.

Grandpa let out a snort and said, “I don’t think I need your protection, cub. Move aside."

Sandilo’s heartbeat accelerated as Grandpops shoved him out of the way and walked towards the brink
