Chapter 2

Author: Strawberry Pudding
I stopped pounding on the door, letting my body slide down the glass until I collapsed onto the freezing tiles.

Kenna's words echoed in my ears, and I let out a bitter laugh. I brought this on myself.

The unbearable cold drained the heat from my body, inch by inch. I started hallucinating. I felt like I was burning, as if flames were licking at my skin. I began pulling off my clothes.

Then, my heart stopped. My soul left my body.

I saw Archie leisurely walk up to the glass door with a phone in hand. He looked down at me.

Lying there on the balcony, barely clothed, I looked pitiful.

Archie suddenly covered his mouth and giggled. Through the glass, he made silly faces at my corpse.

"Mommy, you look just like that stray dog downstairs! So ugly! You're such a pervert, Mommy! Why aren't you wearing clothes? Grandma says women like you are indecent! I'm gonna take a picture and send it to the family group chat!"

Then, he cracked the door open. A blast of icy wind rushed in. He shivered violently and quickly slammed the door shut again.

Still standing behind the glass, he gave Brandon a video call and aimed the camera at me.

Suddenly, he started crying. "Daddy! Mommy froze to death… Come home, Daddy. I'm scared!

"Daddy, now that I don't have a mom anymore, can you take Ms. Cole home to be my new mom?"

"Mommy! Are you even listening to me?"

Archie's impatient voice yanked me out of my memories of my past life and back into the present.

As I stared at the little devil in front of me, the last shred of motherly love I had melted away like the snow outside the window.

I shoved Archie hard. He fell backward, landing flat on his butt with a loud thud.

Just as he was about to throw a tantrum, I got up and smiled at him. "Didn't you want to play hide and seek? Well, what are you waiting for? Go hide."

Archie froze for a second. He swallowed back the curse words that were about to spill from his mouth.

Rubbing his sore backside, he ran toward the balcony—just like in my past life—and hid behind the washing machine.

Once he was completely out of sight, I walked over, shut the glass door, and locked it.

The moment Archie heard the click of the lock, he bolted out from behind the washing machine. He stared at the door, confused.

A five-year-old couldn't hide his emotions.

His face practically screamed, "How did you think to lock the door first?"

Archie looked up at me through the glass door and started yelling, kicking, and pounding on the door.

"Open the door! Let me in! Evil Mommy! Are you trying to freeze me to death? Regina Foley! As the man of the house, I command you to open this door right now, or I'll tell Daddy! I'll make him divorce you!"

When I heard him say "the man of the house", I almost laughed.

Archie started attending kindergarten when he was three. Back then, he was still so attached to me. At the kindergarten gate, he clung to me and sobbed uncontrollably, refusing to let go no matter what.

He cried over and over, "Don't go, Mommy! I want you!"

That day, I comforted him patiently. "Archie, you're a man now. Grown-ups stand tall and strong. It's just kindergarten. You can do this, Archie. Be brave, just like Maximus Titan!"

"Yeah, I can do it! I'm a man! When I grow up, I'm gonna protect you, Mommy!"

Teary-eyed and sniffling, three-year-old Archie promised to be my knight and protect me for a lifetime. That day, I was truly happy.

But somewhere along the way, Archie's idea of being a "man" changed.

"I'm a man. You have to listen to me! Go buy me ice cream now!"

However, when some sharp-eyed passerby noticed that Archie was the ungrateful son from the recent shocking exposé about a mistress, they quickly shook their heads and walked away. Some even advised me not to be soft-hearted."Don't be too soft on him, miss. This child can't possibly know what he's done wrong. He feels the pain now and just thinks you're the most obedient servant."The word "servant" made me shudder.I shoved Archie away. He fell into the snow but still tried to crawl toward me.I took a step back, holding my puppy, and coldly looked at him. "You're a man, Archie. You have to bear the consequences for your own choices."Sitting in the snow, Archie looked up at me with a bewildered expression, clearly not understanding what I said. But it didn't matter anymore.I turned and got into the car, placing the puppy in the front passenger seat.Meanwhile, Kenna was still inside the clinic, flirting with the handsome vet. Not wanting to deal with Archie anymore, I honke

I got 70% of the assets.Right after that came the incitement to murder case. The footage from the car's dash cam was very clear. The first person who suggested I should disappear from this world was Brandon. He said that he and Ellie would be able to avoid prison only if Archie did it. So, he was the mastermind behind the whole thing.Although Archie didn't cause me serious harm, the fact remained that Brandon had incited murder, and he received the punishment he deserved.Meanwhile, since Ellie was pregnant, she got a more lenient sentence from the court. In the end, Brandon was sent to prison. Before he went to prison, he handed Archie over to Ellie. Before leaving with Ellie, Archie didn't forget to mock me, "I finally got rid of you, Mommy! No one will boss me around anymore!"Ellie smugly raised her chin at me, as if she thought by winning over Brandon and Archie, she had won the whole world. But I didn't feel the slightest anger at their provocation. If Brandon and Arc

Looking back, I realized that I actually noticed Brandon's sudden interest in watching live streams in my previous life. I even asked him about it back then, but he brushed it off.Now that I thought about it, there were clues everywhere.…The situation quickly escalated. The kindergarten's live stream, which originally had only a few hundred viewers, suddenly saw tens of thousands flooding in due to the mistress exposé. The numbers kept increasing. The comments were bad enough, but the parents at the scene were already in an uproar. Everyone was shouting for the principal to come out and explain.Ellie was surrounded by the crowd, unable to escape. Some people even took advantage of the chaos and slapped her a few times. That was when I arrived with the reporters I arranged beforehand. Before I got out of Kenna's car, she carefully applied makeup on me to give me a sickly appearance and gave me a pair of sunglasses. Then, she helped me into the kindergarten.Seeing my arriv

After I said that, the people who had been secretly filming in the crowd immediately raised their phones without any restraint. Gradually, other employees started pulling out their phones as well. The flashes from the cameras turned Brandon's face pale, and the veins on his forehead bulged. He yelled at me, "Regina Foley! Enough!"Enough? This was far from enough.I had no intention of arguing with Brandon. I grabbed my bag and turned to leave. I hadn't come to the office to fight with him. I was just there to get the security footage. In the car, I called Kenna. "Is everything set at the kindergarten?""Yep. Just waiting for you to expose the mistress," Kenna replied.…Archie's kindergarten was hosting a parent-child event that day.Since Archie was sick, he didn't attend, but all the other parents were there. As a teacher, Ellie was there too.If I remembered correctly, Ellie was also going to perform on stage as the teacher representative. The kindergarten always livest

The footage from the surveillance cameras showed Ellie being even more promiscuous than she was in the hospital. After finishing what I needed to do, I left straight away.As I was heading downstairs, I bumped into Brandon, who rushed over looking flustered.Brandon, who always looked neat and meticulous, had his suit buttons undone and his tie crooked today. When he saw me, his brows furrowed in frustration."What the hell are you doing here, Regina? Don't you know Archie is sick? He's covered in red spots and is crying at home, looking for his mom!"He never disappointed me. Before I could shove the evidence in his face, he always played the victim. But deep down, he was already rotten to the core.I smiled at him. "I have shares in the company too. If your mistress can come, why can't I? Also, the mom that Archie's looking for isn't me, it's Ellie, your lover!" I said this loudly enough for everyone around to hear.It was working hours, and the entire floor was quiet. My voic

The voice message was also filled with Dad's angry voice. "It's all your fault! Now look! She's embarrassing us even after getting married! She's such a disgrace!"Listening to the suffocating voice messages, I was reminded of my parents' reaction after I died in my previous life. When they saw my lifeless body, they were clearly heartbroken, but all they said were words of apologies. They apologized that the daughter they raised died in such a shameful manner, ruining the Palmer family's reputation. They also apologized that I passed away before I could raise Archie. In the end, they didn't even take my ashes because of the way I died. They let the Palmers dispose of them however they wanted.Even though Mom fainted several times from crying, she never once said a word in my defense. Not even a simple, "My daughter isn't like that."Not a single word.I grabbed my phone and replied to Mom."I'm preparing to divorce Brandon. I don't want Archie either. You don't need to respon
