Another dream

I was standing in a beautiful, spacious kitchen, full of light. The sunrays were gently filling the room, showering it all in a warm glow. It looked like a scene from a movie, or some blissful commercial. I was preparing breakfast with a smile on my face. I felt happy. I took out two plates from the cupboard and served a carefully made omelet with vegetables and toasts. I acted like a happy housewife… a role which I would never have imagined myself in, but in that moment, I was actually enjoying it! I took out two cups and poured coffee into them.

"It smells delicious…" I heard a seductive whisper.

A man's arms embraced me from behind. It was a familiar feeling. Then he grabbed one of the cups I just poured and took a sip.

"I love the coffee you make," he muttered softly.

I turned around and saw Samil's face wearing a sweet grin. I pecked his lips.

"You should eat while the breakfast is hot," I said with a warm smile.

"Yes, Ma'am," he chuckled, taking one plate, sitting down at the table, then started eating.

"Do you like it…?" I asked shyly, leaning over him.

He smirked, then took a fork with a piece of his omelet and fed me with it.

"I love it. That is why you should eat it with me," he purred alluringly.

He put another piece of an omelet on the fork to feed me. I obediently opened my mouth and bit… the air…

I opened my eyes and found myself in my embarrassing reality.

"Another dream…" I sighed.

It was starting to get annoying. I was constantly dreaming of a guy who was, from now on, my boss! A cold and calculated one at that!

"Why do I have these kinds of dreams about him?! It doesn't help!" I shouted while getting dressed up for work.

I wanted to talk to my Grandma, but she suddenly decided to refill some rare herb supplies, so yesterday she went out of town to pick them in the nearby village. She didn't come back until now, but I wasn't worried. I knew that my Aunt lived in that village and guessed that Grandma probably stayed at her house. Yet… this time I really wanted her advice, and she wasn't there!

I had no other choice. I took a deep breath, clenched my fists, and went to work. On my way to the station's headquarters, I started thinking about how I could deal with the situation I was in. I basically had to find a way to seduce my boss! Seriously, it sounded like a gloomy joke… I was as far away from being a seductress as possible! I had never even taken an initiative to talk to a guy!

"Let's face it… I'm done for…" I muttered, feeling more and more miserable.

I was on the bus, drowning in my misery, when an instant idea came to my mind…

"How about writing a script for myself?! I am a scriptwriter, and now I am a heroine in a part of life called "Dealing with CEO"! I should create a strategy for myself!" I made a decision in my head, building new courage.

First, I thought of different types of female leads that I remembered from the CEO's character romances. There was "the weak beauty" – nothing like me at all, "the naïve and dumb beauty" – still, not even close, and finally, "the average, hardworking girl" – more like my type.

The problem was, my job description didn't actually give me a clue about what it would look like or what to expect. Besides, all I knew about the secretaries' work was that they were planning their boss's schedule, picking up their boss's laundry, and making them coffee. Well, that was what secretaries in dramas did anyway…

The thing was the contract I signed sounded more like I applied for a personal slave position… Even with my huge imagination, I couldn't figure out how I could ever go from that position to his lover… or at least someone he would cherish enough to give a kiss! I felt desperate again. No matter how hopeless my situation was, I decided to stick to a hard-working mode and that something good would come out of it.

I came to my new work place ten minutes ahead of time. It all looked different from yesterday. Not only the fired secretaries were gone… Their desks and entire workspaces were gone as well!

"Where am I supposed to sit during my work exactly?!" I thought, confused and flustered.

I knocked on the CEO's office, wondering if he was already there.

"Come in," he ordered coldly.

"Good morning, Sir," I muttered hesitantly, walking inside.

"You are late," he stated.

"But… it's only 7:55…" I claimed nervously.

"I am already here. That means you are late," he hissed.

I wished he told me about it yesterday! I felt irked, but I figured that arguing with him wouldn't do me any good.

"I… I apologize, Sir… Could you tell me, at what time do you arrive exactly?" I smiled, clenching my teeth.

"Earlier," he said, wickedly smirking.

I was standing there for a minute and was already about to explode. Yet, my inner voice kept telling me that doing anything against him right now would be as good as committing suicide. That was the only reason I took a deep breath repeating "don't bite and don't kill" inside my head.

"Shall I make you a cup of coffee?" I suggested with pretended politeness to defuse the tension.

"I make my own coffee, I also eat dishes only from my trusted chef. Don't ever touch my food or drinks," he replied harshly.

"Noted," I said while my face flushed with cold sweat.

I stood awkwardly before his desk. He was going through some documents, ignoring me. I gulped and gathered a slight amount of courage to speak.

"Sir… do you have any work for me?" I asked with my voice shaking.

He didn't even raise his head to look at me, just pointed at some pile of boxes.

"Go through those contracts," he ordered.

"Um… I don't understand…" I laughed faintly.

He stopped reading, and glared at me.

"There are contracts for each employee from the human resources department. You will read each one of them and mark every clause you find odd, or ridiculous, like strange demands, confusingly big salaries etc. You have to finish it all by the end of the day," he explained.

I looked at the boxes. There were fifteen of them, each filled with tons of contracts. I got dizzy at the thought of reading them all.

"Sir…" I spoke up hesitantly, "But… where can I work…? The desks from outside are gone…"

"Can you see the table and a sofa in this office?" he asked, annoyed.

"Yes."

"Then, there is your work place. I have to keep an eye on you. Besides, the contracts are a confidential matter. I wouldn't let you take them anywhere outside this office anyhow," he glared, telling me how much my questions were disturbing his work.

I decided to shut up and do what he told me to do. The boxes were too heavy for me to lift, so I started to push through the floor closer to the sofa. Unfortunately, the sound they were making reminded me of scratching the board with fingernails…

"Ha-ha-ha-ha…" I laughed hysterically seeing the CEO's murderous gaze directed at me.

I tried to move the boxes on the floor slower, but then they were making sharp, short squeaks instead. Suddenly, the boss stood up, and walked my way. I instantly thought he was going to hit me, or kick the boxes. I shut my eyes.

"Sit on the sofa. I will move them for you," he hissed.

I was completely dazed and stared at him in disbelief.

"Did you hear me?" he called, irritated.

"Y-yes!" I flinched and immediately sat on the sofa like he told me.

He took the boxes one by one like they were made from feathers.

"God… if his strong arms without the shirt really look like in my dreams… I beg you to make these dreams prophetic!" I prayed in my mind.

"What are you staring at me for?! You better get to work, Ms. Eder!" he shouted.

 "R-right away!" I called, flustered.

I couldn't believe that I was dazed like that. I took the first contract and lowered my head, hoping not to meet his gaze anymore. It was so idiotic of me…

"I was supposed to be "the average and hardworking" type, and not "the totally dumb" one! I never acted like that before, even when I met some super handsome actors from TV shows! I have to snap out of it now!" I scolded myself in my thoughts.

While I tried to keep my strange reactions to my boss at bay, I gradually realized that those dreams were not only sending me clues... they were affecting me...
