Chapter 2 - Sister's Proposal

Alexa and Nicole then excused themselves from the rest of the guests and went upstairs. However, Miranda heard their conversation as she was serving the guests drinks. Any conversations having to do with Derrick made Miranda alert.

The top floor was off limits as Derrick disliked being disturbed, and Miranda was well aware of this. However, she wanted to know what Alexa and Nicole were going to do on the top floor.

Seeing how hot Alexa and Nicole looked in their elegant dresses that swept the floor, Miranda felt jealous and wished she wasn't a maid.

Aside from being a maid, Miranda had gained some high school education, but she could not resign her contract as a maid yet, not when she admired the most handsome man on the planet.

"Damn it! Watch where you're going?" A female guest yelled at Miranda for stepping on her toes and losing her grip on the tray. The tray went out of her hands and stained the guest's white dress.

"Ouch! How dare you, a lowly maid, stain my white dress? Do you know how much this outfit cost?" The young female guest was clearly annoyed. She was a young woman like Miranda's peers, and seeing that the celebrant was not interested in his own party, nor did he get to meet with the guests that had arrived, only fueled the guest's irritation.

"I am sorry," before Miranda could render her apology to the guest, the angry female guest landed Miranda a hot slap on her left cheek.

"You are not deserving to be a maid here! Get out!" The guest yelled, her voice cutting and turning the living room silent.

Lady Loretta was stunned and she chided the guest, "Melody, that's not how to treat your fellow lady. She made a mistake and apologized to you while we are here. Come, Miranda," Lady Loretta summoned Miranda back.

"Show Melody to Nicole's room above. I think Nicole still has some spare dresses left in her room, before she left us and got married last year."

"Okay, ma. Come with me," Miranda spoke to the angry lady, who now looked happy to be taken upstairs for a change.

While the bodyguards stood around the mansion and in the living room, the birthday celebration continued as Miranda led Melody upstairs.

Melody was happy to be away from the living room, and she asked Miranda, "Where's Master Derrick's room?"

Miranda did not want to be friends with Melody, who had just molested her. She saw that Melody looked sophisticated with fair skin like hers. However, Miranda was naturally fair without using any beauty cream.

"Hey!! Can't you speak?" Melody yelled at Miranda once more.

Miranda wouldn't have all that disrespectful behavior from the female guest scolding her.

"What do you need Master Derrick's room for? Are you here for the birthday party or are you here for the house master?" Miranda questioned the perplexed woman.

"What? How dare you speak to me in such insolent manners? Have you lost your mind?" Melody yelled, and charged at Miranda. She wanted to attack Miranda, believing she could deal with the maid.

However, Miranda did not know Derrick's room. There were several rooms on the top floor, and Miranda only knew Lady Loretta's room door.

Miranda was not the maid attending to Derrick. She exclusively worked for his mother alone, but she could not care to explain this to Melody.

However, just as Melody wanted to smack Miranda on her cheek again, Derrick walked out of his sitting room with Nicole and Alexa. They came to check on him after he was through taking off his black coat, as he had not taken his bath. His sister and Nicole came to call him.

"What's going on here?" Derrick demanded, seeing the scene before him.

Melody quickly withdrew her hand and offered Derrick a sweet smile.

"Good evening, Master. Your mother sent this silly maid to show me to one of her daughter's rooms to change my dress after she spilled wine on me, but this maid is rude, and she doesn't want to show me to the room," Melody said, casting a subtle glare at Miranda.

"What?! That's a total lie. She was asking me about Master Derrick's bedroom!" Miranda said, her voice loud.

However, silence descended in the hallway. Much to Derrick's surprise, Miranda's voice sounded so gentle and alluring, and he hadn't heard anyone speaking with such a mild voice before.

He eyed the maid curiously, despite having seen her before.

"Hmmm," Derrick exhaled heavily. His voice cold as he replied to Melody. "That's not why you should attack my mother's maid when you're not the owner of the house. I saw you just now wanting to attack her. Leave here now. You are not welcome, and your contract with Luis firm has been terminated."

Derrick leisurely walked away toward the staircase to go downstairs, his hands in his trousers pocket, his face expressionless, and Melody plopped down on her knees and pleaded with him.

"Please, Master Derrick. Forgive me… I didn't mean to attack the maid. She's lying about me, and I wasn't asking her about your room."

Derrick paid no heed to the young lady begging him. He went downstairs to thank the guests who had taken out their time to honor his mother's invitation.

After Derrick and his sister and Alexa left the top floor, Melody rose to her feet and pounced on Miranda. She wanted to get her revenge on Miranda for making her lose her job, and also, her chances with Derrick.

"You witch! How dare you ruin my chances? I am going to kill you today!" Melody yelled.

She was not prepared for the battle. She did not know that Miranda knew how to fight.

As she rushed to attack Miranda, Miranda dodged the attack and kicked her very hard. Then she pounced on the spoiled lady and started beating the lady.

"Somebody help!!" Melody screamed, after Miranda landed her multiple slaps in retaliation of the first slap that she had given to her.

Miranda sat on the arrogant young lady on the tiled floor and slapped her multiple times on her face, also pulling the lady's wig off.

The music was loud in the living room, and the bodyguards had escorted Derrick downstairs to the hall. So, no one could hear Melody's pleas for help.

Miranda finished dealing with the arrogant lady. She stood up and dashed into one of the rooms to have a cool evening bath.

The birthday celebration ended, and Derrick thanked the guests that had given him gifts. He escorted his sisters as they left one by one.

"Derrick, I have got to start going home now. Enjoy your night. I was thinking, why not ask Alexa out to be your girlfriend? She works beside you in the office and spends most of her time with you. Alexa is from a prestigious family here, and she will make a good wife for you," Nicole spoke to Derrick.

Derrick frowned and replied, "I am not interested in a relationship, and Alexa knows this, unless she's the one requesting for you to speak to me about a relationship."

"No, Master Derrick," Alexa quickly denied. She did not want to lose her job, especially when she saw Derrick's face twisted in irritation.

"That's fine. Let's call it a night. I have to go inside now and rest, then I will give your proposal a thought. Alexa Godwin is a wonderful woman, and I wouldn't mind asking her out the proper way," Derrick said, his hands in his trouser pocket, and he offered Nicole a warm smile.

Derrick did not want her worrying about him.

"That's fine, baby brother. Good night too, and bye," Nicole waved to Derrick as she hopped into her sleek black car. She ignited it and drove home to meet her husband, as she has a new baby at home.

Alexa smiled nervously and walked up to her sleek black car. She pulled the car door open, got inside, and felt Master Derrick's gaze on her. She then drove out of the opulent residence.
