LOGINRuby’s POV
Just as Scarlett was floundering, clearly unable to give an answer, Asher suddenly appeared beside her, his usual charming smile fixed firmly on his face.
“Hey, let’s calm down,” he said lightly, resting a hand on Scarlett’s shoulder. “Ruby, come on. Can’t we talk about this somewhere private?”
I did not respond, and immediately Asher grew uncomfortable about approaching me. Slowly I walked up to him. “Private?” I snapped. “I already told her to stop, and she refused. So hell no. We’re not taking this anywhere private.” I pointed straight at Scarlett.
Asher’s smile cracked. “Ruby, please, let’s just..”
“No,” I cut in, my voice rising as my control finally snapped. “I am out of my damn mind and you do not want to tempt me! I will not cover up your cheating ass.”
A hush swept through the room. Scarlett’s face drained of color, and Asher’s gaze flickered around wildly, searching for a way out.
“Ruby, stop this,” he said stiffly, neither admitting nor denying anything. The guilt on his face said more than words ever could.
I stepped closer, lowering my voice so only he could hear me, every word dripping with pur hatred.
“I’m not stopping,” I said quietly. “I have proof. And even without it, I know my sister. I know she’s been manipulating you, using you to hurt me and you fell for it. You chose her. So don’t push me, Asher. I have everything I need on my phone to destroy your reputation and bring your life to the ground.”
Scarlett shot to her feet, fury blazing in her eyes. “How dare you threaten us!”
I smiled. “I dare because I’m not scared of either of you. One wrong move, and I’ll ruin your lives. Don’t test me.”
I wasn’t planning to release the video. But they didn’t need to know that.
The room buzzed with murmurs, voices overlapping in confusion. I stood still, shoulders squared, finally feeling in control again.
Asher’s face reddened. “Then prove it,” he snapped. “Show everyone right now. And if you can’t, I’ll sue you for defamation.”
He was bluffing but fear flickered in his eyes. He wasn’t sure whether I was.
I knew if I didn’t respond, I’d look like a liar. My pride and my reputation among the elites would be destroyed. Still, I wasn’t about to expose everything publicly.
Instead, I sent him the video directly.
Silence crashed over the room as all eyes remained fixed on us.
Scarlett’s eyes widened in horror as Asher watched the footage on his phone. Her hand flew to her mouth. Asher staggered back, his face turning ghostly pale.
“H-how did you get this?” he whispered.
I smirked. “You wanted to sue me. Now tell me, should I airdrop this to everyone here?”
Scarlett opened her mouth, but I shut her down instantly. “No, Scarlett. Shut up! The only time you should open that mouth is to suck on his dick.”
The guests didn’t know what had happened, but the damage was done. I straightened and addressed the room calmly.
“I apologize for the disturbance,” I said firmly. “Please forget this incident and continue enjoying your evening.”
The music resumed.
I took a breath, watching Asher and Scarlett retreat in shame. “I meant it when I said I was done,” I added coldly. “Asher is trash, and I don’t want him back. And Scarlett, try pulling something like this again, and you’ll regret it.”
“You’re lying,” Scarlett snapped bitterly. “You’re not over him. You're only pained that he never loved you.”
I smiled sweetly, locking eyes with her. “Who said I wasn’t over him?” I asked coolly. “I’ve already found someone better.”
My gaze drifted across the room and landed on him.
An older man, commanding, confident. No wedding ring. Something about him made my pulse spike.
Without thinking too much, I walked toward him, heels clicking, and took his hand. I could see, for the first time, his face beneath his cowboy hat. It was roughly chiseled, stark, completely masculine. His skin was dark bronze, and his eyes were so light that they seemed silver. The contrast was stunning. I was ensnared in the hot light of his eyes for a long moment.
I held on, silently praying he wouldn’t pull away. I didn’t know him but I needed this. Scarlett’s glare burned into my back.
The man looked surprised, then curious. Instead of stepping away, he squeezed my hand gently, as though he understood.
His gaze released my eyes and slid down my face to my mouth. There it paused, and my heart began slamming wildly in my chest.
His gaze slid lower lazily. No man had ever looked ate the way he was looking at me. He eyed my full breasts, starining against the confines of my gown. It slipped quickly down to my glass heels, then back up.
Ignoring the tension that I felt, I released him and turned back to Scarlett, victory clear on my face.
“I’m moving on,” I said. “And I’m not looking back.”
She stormed out. Asher followed, unwilling to draw more attention.
Someone whispered nearby, “Isn’t that Harrison? The billionaire playboy king?”
I remembered then. Harrison, he was the man women chased endlessly, notorious for never keeping one for long.
I studied him again. Tall. Sharp-featured. Undeniably handsome.
Suddenly, a hand wrapped around my waist, pulling me back. My heart jumped as I thought it was Asher.
Then a deep, husky voice murmured near my ear.
“You’re bold,” Harrison said. “That’s exactly how I like my women.”
I tried to pull away. “Let go of me,” I demanded.
He chuckled softly. “You grabbed my hand first,” he whispered. “Now it’s my turn.”
I stopped. He was so close, his eyes commanded that I stayed still. There was fire there, like the fire running suddenly in my own veins. I looked at his mouth, sensually sculpted, parted slightly, and I felt an insane desire to kiss him. But immediately I snapped out of that thought.
Before I could react, he kissed me.
The room vanished. His lips were firm, confident, stealing my breath. My knees weakened as my heart raced wildly.
Gasps echoed around us, but I didn’t care. I was lost completely.
When he finally pulled back, I was breathless.
“You’re beautiful,” he said softly, his eyes were warm. Then he took two glasses of wine from a nearby table, handing one to me.
He raised his glass.
“A toast,” he said smoothly. “To us.”
RUBY'S POV I stroked him delicately, deliberately, then began seeking out every crevice and cranny I could find, with rising frenzy. Licking, sucking, lapping. He released my wrists and wrapped me in his arms. Our tongues warred fiercely, mated hotly. His throbbing groin settled against mine, bare flesh to bare flesh. With his palm he found my breast and possessed it roughly. My nails tore down his back. Harrison lifted himself to pull out his shirt; I yanked it apart, spilling the buttons over my body and the bed. My hands found his bare chest, his ribs, his nipples. Pinching him, I moaned frantically into his mouth. He touched me. He touched me and made a sound full of raw lust. He stroked me, parted me, then was apologizing even as he rammed into me.It was a wild mating that was over almost as soon as it began. He pounded into me; I rose to meet him. We strained and bucked. I cried out first, loudly, without shame, the keening call urging Harrison to faster, harder rampaging in
Ruby's POVThe moment I turned around and saw Harrison standing there, my heart nearly stopped. The shovel slipped from my fingers and landed on the ground with a loud thud. For a few seconds, nobody spoke. The cold night air suddenly felt heavier.Jock stood beside me, his hand still gripping his own shovel while Harrison stared at both of us like he was trying very hard not to lose his temper.I swallowed hard. His face was unreadable, that was somehow worse than him yelling."Uh..." Jock cleared his throat awkwardly. "Good evening."Harrison looked at him, then completely ignored him. His eyes moved to me."Ruby."The way he said my name made my stomach tighten but I forced a smile."Hi."His jaw ticked then he asked the question I wasn't expecting."So you're back with Jock now?"I blinked."What?"His eyes narrowed."I asked a simple question."Beside me, Jock looked horrified."Harrison—""Not talking to you."Jock immediately shut up.I rubbed my forehead. Of all the things he
Ruby’s POVI didn’t even remember how I got back to my room.My legs just carried me up the stairs.Through the hallway. My mind was still stuck on one thing, the buried sack. The moment I entered my room, I shut the door behind me and locked it. Then I pressed my back against it and exhaled shakily.“What is happening…” I whispered. My hand went to my stomach automatically. The baby shifted faintly inside me, and for a moment I forced myself to breathe slower. But it didn’t help.My thoughts were spiraling too fast. If someone buried something on this property, then they were still here.A knock interrupted my thoughts. My head snapped toward the door instantly.“Who is it?” I asked, my voice sharper than I intended.“It’s me.”Jock. My heart jumped with relief so fast I almost stumbled.I rushed to the peephole, confirmed it was him, and immediately unlocked the door. The second I opened it, I grabbed his arm and pulled him inside.“Ruby—hey—what the—”I shut the door quickly behind
Ruby's POVI sat on the edge of Harrison's bed for what felt like forever, my hands clasped tightly together as I stared at the bedroom door.Every few minutes I checked the time on my phone, convinced that he would walk through the door at any second. He never did.The house had long since fallen silent. Even the staff had disappeared into their quarters and the endless hallways seemed eerily empty.Yet Harrison was nowhere to be found. At first I tried convincing myself that he was probably busy. Maybe he was working. Maybe he was in one of the rooms I hadn't checked. But as the hours crawled by, that excuse became harder and harder to believe. Especially after what I had seen. The image kept replaying inside my head.My stomach twisted.I stood abruptly from the bed and paced the room.No.I couldn't keep sitting here.I needed to talk to someone before I completely lost my mind.Pulling out my phone, I scrolled through my contacts until I found Jock's name.Without giving myself t
RUBY'S POV My phone slipped from my fingers and landed on the carpet with a dull thud. For a second I just stood there staring at the person had looked directly at my window, and a chill crawled down my spine."What the hell..." I whispered. My heart was beating so hard it felt painful. Jock was still talking through the phone on the floor."Ruby? Ruby, are you there?"I bent down quickly and grabbed it."Jock.""What happened?""I think someone saw me.""What?""I'll call you back."Before he could respond, I ended the call, I didn't even stop to think. Didn't stop to consider how stupid it was. Didn't stop to consider that I was pregnant. All I knew was that there was a stranger inside Harrison's property walking around in the dark and acting suspicious.I had to know who it was. I rushed out of my room. The hallway blurred around me as I hurried downstairs. The mansion was unusually quiet, most of the staff had already retired for the evening. The few guards I saw nodded respectfu
HARRISON'S POV I was pacing like a mad woman in front of the police station.Back and forth. My heels clicked hard against the concrete floor while my hands trembled by my sides. Every few seconds I looked toward the entrance again, praying they would finally let Harrison out.The cold evening wind brushed against my skin, but I barely felt it. My entire body was too tense. Too restless.I hated this feeling.Waiting.The media vans parked outside the station made everything worse. Reporters stood close to the gate like hungry wolves waiting for fresh meat. Cameras flashed every now and then, and every time I heard the clicking sound my chest tightened.I wrapped my coat tighter around myself and looked at the entrance again.Still nothing.“Oh God,” I muttered under my breath. “Please just let him come out.”I didn’t even realize I was rubbing my stomach until the movement became automatic. The thought still felt unreal sometimes.A few days ago my biggest problem had been surviving
RUBY’S POVFor a moment, neither of us spoke. The air in Harrison’s bedroom suddenly felt too thick to breathe. My eyes stayed glued to the phone in his hand. To the photograph. My stomach twisted violently, it was unmistakably me. Curled slightly on the bed.The silk sheets tangled around my legs.
HARRISON’S POVThe conference room in Grey & Carter Legal was exactly the kind of place people get contracts that will change their lives. Dark wooden panels lined the walls, the long table polished to a mirror finish. The blinds were half drawn against the afternoon sun, leaving the room washed in
RUBY’S POVThe screenshot stayed on my phone long after midnight. I must have stared at it for an hour or maybe two.My father standing beside Harrison’s private jet, the timestamp glared at me like an accusation. My chest felt tight as I walked down the quiet hallway of the mansion, the soft glow
RUBY’S POVThe moment the photos leaked, everything changed around my workplace.By the time I arrived at the studio that morning, the entire building felt like a prison.I stepped out of the elevator and immediately felt it.People standing near the reception desk stopped talking the second they s
