Celeste’s POV

"Elyse," could you please hand over the other box, please?"

I heard her voice from the the almost bathroom door, she was rummaging through the cabinet.

The bathroom we were using at the shelter was barely enough for one person, talk more of two people.

"Here it is," she replied, passing the small paper bag across to me. "Are you sure you are not sick? I observed something strange since morning. How can you be throwing up like a clockwork non stop? Isn't that a sign that your guts aren't okay? And a need to call a doctor?"

"I'm very fun," I lied smoothly, opening the box with a shaking fingers. "Maybe, it had to do with what I ate."

Elyse folded her arms, still not convinced with me. "I can remember eating same food with you. And clearly, I'm not the one frequenting the bathroom every second like the moon's after my life."

I didn't reply her. There was no need to. By now, my throat had become tight from saying the bitter truth if what happened that night.

  • A Nightstand With An Alpha   Chapter 20 - The Alpha’s Ultimatum

Celeste's POV That night, I sat by the fire, staring at the flames as it burnt against the stone walls. My wolf whimpered softly, sensing my unrest, and how I was so earger to act.“What if it’s true?” I whispered to myself. “What if Kaelith really sent them to me?”Mara’s voice came from the shadows, like one who had been hiding. “Then your past just found a way to bleed into your future.”I turned to look at her. Sometimes, she surprises me. “And if I don’t want him to find me? What if I had lost interest in ever getting him back?”She smiled grimly. “Then you would better learn to hide your heart, Seer. Because whether there's bond or not, be rest assured that an Alpha always finds what’s his.”The fire crackled louder, as if echoing her words and agreeing with her. And somewhere far beyond the Hollow’s mountains…there arose a howl, very deep, yet familiar, like someone searching. My breath caught on the realization that it was him.And I had no idea whether I wanted him to stop l

  • A Nightstand With An Alpha   Chapter 19 - The Vision

Celeste's POVMara smiled...a chilling, knowing smile. “Then the Hollow will bury another ghost.”The silence that followed was suffocating. Then she tossed me a new blade, shorter, lighter. “Again.”This time, I caught it before it hit the ground. We fought for hours. Each strike taught me pain, and each fall taught me strength. My wolf began to move with me instead of against me. I could feel when Mara was about to attack before she moved. My instincts sharpened.By nightfall, I was drenched in sweat, but I didn’t fall. Not once more.Mara finally lowered her weapon. “Better,” she admitted. “Your wolf listens when your heart stops screaming.”I exhaled, dropping the blade. “And if my heart never stops?”“Then make it scream for something worth fighting for,” she said simply, turning away.I watched her go, chest heaving. Rogues training, fighting, surviving, many of them howling. And then, suddenly...the air shifted. A scent from nowhere hit me.It was like a pine, smoke, then rain.

  • A Nightstand With An Alpha   CHAPTER 18 - The Hollow’s Fire

Celeste’s POV"Do you have the intention of standing right there like a scared pup for ages?" Mara's voice drew me back to reality, very cold but welcoming. "Or, are you finally ready to prove to me that you deserve to stay in Crescent Hollow?""I'm not scared of anything," I lied, suddenly clenching my fist to stop me from shaking. Crescent Hollow training ground was a wide field, stretching on endlessly like an abandoned graveyard.Mara shook her head, her dark hair slightly falling off to cover her one eye. "Lie," and that alone was enough to destroy my ego.My wolf flinched right inside me. "How did you get to...""I already told you," Mara interrupted, moving close to me until her eyes were locked with mine. "I can smell lies even from a far distance. Every rogue here are trained to stop hiding behind their pathetic plans. If you have no courage to admit your fears, how sure are you that you won't be swallowed wholly by Crescent Hollow?""I'm not afraid of you, not even one but,"

Celeste's POV "I don't have a child. Not with anyone, and certainly not with you!" He finally said, completely shattering my hope. "Yes, you do. You just don't know yet, and that's why I'm here." I replied, rubbing my stomach with my hands to show him the growing bump. "I'm not here to make demands. I just thought it wise to let you know that you will soon become a father." He turned away, avoiding eye contact with me, and stared into the fire.v"I guess you have no idea what you are doing." "I know exactly what brought me here," I said calmly. "This is me protecting our baby from harm." He let out a bitter laugh. "Did I just hear you say our baby? You expect me to believe your story? And to think that you are now a rogue? There's every possibility that you slept with another..." "How are you?" I screamed, my voice boiling from anger and pain. "You think I would boldly walk to you with a lie as delicate as this? That I would risk my life just for a lie? What do I stand to benefi

  • A Nightstand With An Alpha   CHAPTER 16 - The Alpha’s Denial

Celeste’s POV"State your business here."The guard at the gate was anything but friendly. His voice was more of a low growl, his silver eyes already serving the need of a torchlight. His huge form stood at the gatehouse of Silverfang, an obstacle to anyone who wished to come inside.I clutched my hood much tighter, trying everything possible to hide my trembling fingers from him. "I am here to see Alpha Kaelith," I told him, gathering the remaining strength in me to say it.The two warriors manning the gate turned to stare at each other, exchanging a knowing look. One of them snorted, the other remained unreadable. "And who should I inform him that you are?""Celeste Morrigan," I replied firmly, but my voice was thundering without control. The name I had just told him hung in the air like a spell, the guards watching me keenly, as if I were a bad omen. Their nostrils flaring up, trying to scent me. "You are a rogue?""Former Blue Moon," I quickly corrected to avoid any mistake from s

  • A Nightstand With An Alpha   Chapter 15 - I Can Feel Him

Celeste's POV "I don't wish to get used to it. I want it far away from me." Her gaze darkened, very terrifying to behold. "Be careful with the things you wish for yourself. Don't you know it's not easy to break off bonds of that nature as it can rip apart your very soul?" "I don't mind experiencing that so far as it would never be part of me again." For a moment, neither of us gathered the right words to speak. The wind kept on tossing around the dry leaves on the ground, creating a rustling sound. As we stayed silent, my wolf kept on whimpering nonstop in the back of my mind. I didn't know how to control the feeling of long, mixed with pain that was tormenting me. Mara finally sighed and decided to break the silence. "Fine then. If your wish is to get the bond severed, I would like to let you know that you need not just stubbornness, but more than that. You will need to be in control. This isn't just any control, but to be in absolute control of both your mind and emotions. To
