Chapter 2

ผู้เขียน: Rabbit Song
One weekend, after Jack returned from a business trip, he and I visited his parents.

Jean smiled brightly when she saw his son at the door, but her smile faded when she noticed me by his side. "What are you doing here?"

The smile froze on my face. I gave Jack a sad look.

He immediately tried to mediate. "Mom, what are you talking about? We're back to visit because Shannon misses both of you!"

Turning on her heels with a scoff, Jean snarked, "You miss us? Why don't you give us a grandchild, then?"

Jack gave me an awkward glance. I shook my head, a way of telling him it was alright, before we stepped into the house.

Food was served. The entire family gathered at the table merrily, ready for dinner. Jack's dad, Bill Ingleton, chatted with Jean and Jack.

My in-laws asked about Jack, but I could tell it was just for show. They must have something important to discuss with him, but they would never bring it up in front of me.

I wondered what they would do if I weren't around. When that idea struck me, I switched on the recorder on my phone as I placed the phone screen-down on the table.

Suddenly, I exclaimed, "Oh! Dad, Mom, it occurred to me that we forgot to lock our car! Jack has left his bag in the car. I need to go check it out."

Jean was taken aback. She patted her chest. Then, she rolled her eyes at me and schooled me,

"You've never done anything right! Go now! Jack will be in trouble if he loses his bag."

I took the car keys and went downstairs for a bit. I waited around until I decided it was time to rejoin them.

When I returned to the dinner table, the conversation stopped abruptly. Jack and his parents stared at me in a way that made my hair stand.

Bill was the first to break the silence. With a smile, he gestured at me to join them. The conversation resumed after I took my seat.

Picking up my phone, I made a quick visit to the bathroom. Once I locked the door, I hit the play button and listened intently to the crisp recording.

In the recording, Jean eagerly cursed at me right after I closed the door. She spat, "How dare that infertile pig show up at our place?

"Jack, get a divorce right now and marry Rhea. Just look at Shannon! She's hopeless. If she can't give you a child, she shouldn't call herself your wife! Since Rhea is pregnant now, you should divorce Shannon and marry Rhea instead."

Apparently, my in-laws had learned about Rhea's affairs with Jack and her pregnancy.

I heard Jack say, "I can't just get a divorce. If she refuses to sign the papers, I will have to go to court for a few years. She founded the company, and I have no stock ownership at all. I need to plan carefully if I want a divorce."

Sighing, Jean chimed in, "That woman is such a nuisance. She's like a leech; you can't shake her off!"

After a brief silence, Jack piped up, "If she's dead, her stocks will belong to me."

"Is that true?" Jean asked with glee.

I trembled violently when I heard the suggestion. Was my husband thinking of killing me? I stood there, frozen.

At that moment, a chill swept through my entire body, leaving me trembling uncontrollably. I had never imagined that the man I shared a bed with, the husband I trusted, would be planning to kill me.

And all because I couldn't bear a child. Had he seriously resorted to getting rid of me just because he couldn't find a legitimate reason to make me walk away empty-handed from the divorce?

But wait, wasn't Jack the one who always insisted he didn't want children? Why now? Why was he suddenly willing to divorce me over his child with Rhea?

The recording continued to play. Jack's tone was calm and calculating. "If she left behind no will, I inherit two-thirds of her assets, and her parents get one-third.

He paused before adding, "Most of our assets are mixed with each others'. If we really had to divide them, I'm confident I could secure two-thirds of her wealth."

The realization hit me like a train. Jack had already planned for the divorce. He had been preparing for this day long before now.

My heart felt as if it had broken into pieces. I was devastated, and for a fleeting moment, the thought of storming out of the bathroom and taking a knife to these despicable people crossed my mind.

I had always treated Jack's parents with respect, even better than my own. I went above and beyond to care for them.

But now, I realized they had no regard for my life, no gratitude, no empathy—they wanted me dead.

Perhaps it was time to revise my plans. How could I leave these two scheming old monsters out of what was coming next?

  • A One-Way Ticket to Hell   Chapter 13

Aha! The little trap I set up in the new project had been unearthed. Soon enough, multiple business partners sued Jack and accused him of fraud. They claimed he was passing off substandard products as high-quality ones, and they all demanded to be compensated. While Jack was entangled in lawsuits, I reported him for his previous actions of framing other companies and taking kickbacks when he first joined my company. When Jack was caught up in this mess, I sent him the video of his parents fighting and informed him that they were still hospitalized. He rushed to the hospital in a panic, but the police arrested him shortly after he arrived.Upon seeing their son arrested, his parents, who both suffered from high blood pressure and heart issues, experienced heart attacks and had to be rushed to the ICU.Just when the company was on the brink of collapse, I quickly stepped in to help the employees and welcomed them to my new company—one that I had registered under my father's name, w

Two months later, Rhea and Jack returned from the trip. At this point, Rhea was already six months pregnant, and her belly showed. As soon as Jack returned, he came to me right away, asking how the company was doing.I smiled and told him everything was fine. I even managed to secure the huge project he had failed to land before.Thrilled, Jack wouldn't stop praising me. I smiled and stayed silent, thinking to myself, "Soon enough, you won't have any more reasons to laugh."I had already tampered with the new project. It would give Jack a huge surprise. The day before he returned from the trip, I had transferred all of our assets away."Oh, by the way," I said, pretending to recall, "I heard that Mom and Dad had an argument recently. But I've been so busy with the company's projects that I haven't had time to visit. Maybe you should visit them."Jack was momentarily stunned but quickly replied with indifference, "My parents? Don't bother. They've been arguing like this for years,

Two days later, Jack took Rhea on a trip. I smiled as I entered the office, ready to put my plan into action.I hadn't been idle during this time. I went through the company's accounts and found numerous issues. I also looked into Rhea and Jack's neighborhood and learned that they had presented themselves as newlyweds. As I organized the evidence I gathered, I continued setting up more traps for them.…One day, I suddenly received a message from Jean, saying she couldn't reach Jack. I explained that Jack had gone abroad with his pregnant lover.Upon learning about that, Jean had no objection and decided to leave them alone. I hung up the phone, smiling as I thought about how to deal with these two old fools.Initially, my plan was to get rid of Jack—his parents' source of pride—and inflict the pain of loss on his parents. But now, that wasn't enough for me. I wanted to turn these two old farts against each other.I arranged for a few women in their 30s to casually hang around t

About a month later, I received a message from Rhea, who told me she was bored and complained about being stuck at home with Jack. I comforted her, saying that Jack just wanted her to enjoy a safe pregnancy. I said he was doing it for her own good.Rhea wrote, "But I'm so bored! I want to go out, but he's hired someone to watch me and stop me from stepping out."I replied, "He must be worried about your safety, especially since you're pregnant."After sending that message, I added, "If you're really bored, ask him to take you out for a walk. A little activity won't hurt since you're not far along yet."Rhea asked, "But where would I go? Do you think he'll agree?"I wrote, "That's up to you. You can choose whether to travel domestically or abroad. He'll agree if you ask him to come with you."Jack would agree to anything Rhea asked of him. Then, I sent her some pictures of tourist spots, both domestic and international. Of course, I intentionally chose better photos for the inte

I told Jack about Rhea's pregnancy when he came home that night. Jack seemed truly shocked. If I didn't already know he had accompanied Rhea to the hospital, I would have believed he had no idea she was pregnant."What are we going to do about that?" he asked.I smiled and comforted him, "Isn't this perfect? Talk to her. Get her to keep the child.""Right, how did I not think of that?" Jack said, acting as if he had just realized it.His eyes showed a hint of guilt. He hesitated and said, "Darling, I'm sorry. You've terminated your pregnancies for me. It's bad for your health. It's my fault, I was too young back then, and I didn't want us to be tied down."He sighed and continued, "You know how my parents are. They've been pressuring me. And I'm already 45 years old. Looking at all my friends with kids, I started thinking about having one, so I could have someone to take care of me when I'm old…"Jack was the one who refused to have kids, but now, he had walked back on his word

Upon hearing this, Rhea looked spooked. "Aren't you… angry?""I'm mad, but what good does that do? I can't just kill you both because of one drunken mistake. Besides, given my current state of health, I'd better not get worked up. Anger will only speed up my demise," I said, grabbing Rhea's hand with a pleading expression. "I love him, even though I know he made a mistake. But I don't have much time left. I hope you can wait a little longer. You're still young. After I'm gone, you can be together and have his child. Alright?"Rhea looked at me with an unreadable expression. She was probably wondering how there could be such a foolish woman in the world. But it was my plan to make them think I was foolish and easily toyed with, just so they would let their guard down."You might not have known, but I'm infertile. Still, I love kids. When I'm gone, and when you're with Jack, do you think you could give him a child? Remember to visit my grave with your baby."Rhea lowered her head
