His father caught them as they descended.
“Ah, there you are. I was going to send one of the guys to come to find you two.”
“No need, dad.” He said as they hit the last stair and was face to face with his father.
Carolina stood beside Geo. She watched his fathers eyes go over her.
“This is Carolina Hilden. Carolina, this is my father, Mr.Edward Montclair.“
He extended his hand.
She shook it
"Pleasure to meet you, Carolina.”
“Thank you.” She replied.
“Well, dinner has already been served and placed. Follow me to t
After everyone had their fill of dinner, they all dispersed to their respective spaces in the manor. Silk chose to stand outside on the terrace overlooking the lush garden. The lights were on, and it made it look surreal. Carolina had walked out on the terrace to get some fresh air. She noticed Silk there. She seemed like she was in deep thought, and Carolina did not want to disturb her. “I’m so sorry. I thought no one was around… I will leave-” “No! Please. Don’t leave. Stay! I was just standing here, alone.” “Why?” “To give those two men their space, of course.” She smiled at her. “I love Aunt Cora, but Aunt Cora or any of Eddy's family doesn't care for m
He got her door. She got out of the car. It was a chill in the night air. He held her left hand while she negotiated the stairs in her dress. They walked down the walkway and stood at the front door. Geo pulled out a gold key, inserted it in the lock, and opened the door. It was a luxurious townhouse. It was furnished in a similar style to his Penthouse. "Do you like it?" He asked. "Yes. It's you." He smiled at her comment. It had almost been a week and she thought she "knew" him. The kind and naive things she said about him to his father at dinner made him realize just how young and innocent she was. He almost felt bad, but he couldn't. T
3 weeks later Time had flown by. Carolina and Geo fell into a comfortable routine. Geo would wake her up at five in the morning by making sweet love to her. That had become the best part of her mornings. Then, the two would shower together, or at least try to. They couldn't’ keep their hands off of one another. After their shower, Carolina would sit on the corner of the bed wearing a robe, or sometimes nothing at all and watch as he got dressed for the day, in his expensive suit. He would kiss her thoroughly until she felt herself wanting him one more time before he left. He would depart before they could start round two. It was perfect. Carolina felt like she was on top of the world. They knew one another intimately now, not just in bed but out of it as well.
He walked into his office. Hillary smiled at him and greeted him from behind her desk. “Good morning, Mr. Montclair. A Mr. Monzoon and two other gentlemen are in your office.” Her eyes rolled when she said the words 'gentleman'. His hair bristled. Monzoon was in his place of business after he explicitly told him never to show up. His blood was boiling. He knew he had to control his temper for his father’s sake. “Morning, Thank you. Can you bring in Espresso, please?” “Yes, Mr. Montclair.” She got up and went to the task of doing that while he strolled in his office with confidence he did not have. He opened his heavy office door and strolled in
Carolina had been studying for an exam when her phone rang. She was able to glance at the clock on her phone. It was 2 P.M. She had been studying since ten A.M. and needed to take a break. It had all started to run together. She got up from the sitting position in front of the unlit fireplace in the living room and went into the kitchen to get a glass of water. A soon as she filled up her cup, there was a knock on the door. She walked over to the door and opened it. Her breath was taken away. It was her mother. She looked so much better than what she had seen her look like in the last year. Her hair had grown back thicker and darker. Her complexion was no longer pale and waxy, but golden and glowing. She looked healthy. Mrs. Hilden smiled at Carolina.
A few moments passed. Once Carolina could collect herself, she got up and sat down beside her mother. “I’m so happy to see you, mom. It feels like forever.” “I know it has. When are you planning on moving back home? I’m all better.” “Yes, well Um... I would have to ask Geo and see.” “Ask Geo? He isn’t your father.” “No he isn’t, but I still have to discuss it with him. We are living together now, mom.” She was glad that she hadn't slipped up and told her the truth about her arrangement with Geo. “Oh, I see. You two have become a couple.” “Mom-” “No, I understand. Talk to
“I...I don’t know.” “Carolina, what do you mean?" He grabbed her arm. "You either want to stay with me, or you don’t. It’s not that hard.” “Geo, let go, please, you're hurting me.” “Oh my God. Sorry, didn’t -” He let go of her arm as if it were hot to his touch. “I know.” She reassured him. She knew he was upset at the news and not at her. Silence. “I told her I would ask you. So that is what I am doing. It’s been a month, Geo. How much longer?” “How much longer? Am I holding you up from something?” He asked sarcastically.
“Our age, for starters.” “Our age?”He repeated. “Yes, you are six years older than me.” “What else?” “Well… your family.” “I told you when we first started this thing that I would keep you safe. Haven't I?” he asked, looking her into her eyes. “Yes. You have kept me safe, but how long can you keep doing it? I don’t know if I could live with myself knowing the man I’m with works in a life of crime.” “What else?” “Your lifestyle. I’m not used to all this money and wealth. You would definitely get tired of me making blunders.” He rolled hi
