Chapter 157

It took Richard a long time before he could even remember what had happened the night before.

He had nearly forgotten how he and Maria had broken things off almost for good. He had confronted her in anger and despair, and Maria didn't even offer a word in her defense. She hadn't even tried to stop him when he threw away his wedding ring.

Richard instantly felt his mind was a mess.

Noticing his unsettled look, Catelyn scoffed. "I've told you. You must trust your grandmother and my judgment. We've lived longer, and our decision is for your own good. Eleanor is the one who's best for you. Maria's not a loyal woman!"

Richard pressed his lips together, looking increasingly troubled.

Catelyn couldn't help but sneer again. "Back when she suddenly showed up, claiming that she fell for you at first sight and courted you, I knew something was off. And now, look what happened?"
