Chapter 275

Author: Where is Spring
The night was getting darker.

Maria lay in bed with the heater turned off, and a chill crept into the room. She pulled the blanket up and wrapped it tighter around herself.

Then, she turned to look at the cold, silvery moon outside the window. She noticed branches faintly swaying by her window.

She got out of bed, put on some clothes, and went to the window. Only then did she realize that the wind had picked up outside, making the branches sway back and forth.

She wondered if Jonathan had really stayed outside.

Maria frowned and picked up the flashlight from the table. She went out and saw that there was no one at the door.

She turned around, but out of the corner of her eye she spotted a small, dark figure curled up beneath the big tree.

It was Jonathan.

He didn't leave. He was huddling around himself under the tree outside her door, shivering, looking like a stray no one wanted.

Maria felt sick to the stomach.

She couldn't understand.
