Chapter 36

Richard only knew that if Maria and Jonathan kept butting heads, their mother-son relationship would just keep getting worse, especially when the boy was as stubborn as a mule.

Maria brushed his hand away again, her tone cold as ice. "I'm not going back. I did nothing wrong by hitting him."

She lifted her pale face. "I told you, if you're not satisfied, you can go ahead and find him a new mom and find yourself a new wife!"

Maria turned and walked out.

Richard finally lost patience. He snatched the decorative tree out of her arms and threw it straight in the trash.

Maria was too late to stop him; the tree landed hard in the garbage, buried under syringes and pill boxes. Her face went white as she looked up at Richard.

Richard's expression was dark. "You're not yourself lately. From now on, you are not allowed to come to this hospital. You're not allowed to see that doctor again. You're coming home with me!"
