Nico’s POV

Soline’s breath was still warm against my lips when she whispered, “I want to go with you, Nico. Please. Whatever happens—just take me with you.”

Her words hit harder than any slap. For a moment, I just stared at her — the wild hair, the flushed skin, the way her pupils were blown wide like she’d stepped off a ledge and didn’t care if she fell.

Then she kissed me again.

It wasn’t soft or sweet this time. It was desperate and passionate at the same time, like she was trying to burn away everything between us that had gone wrong. I grabbed her waist and pulled her closer, feeling her heartbeat slam against mine, chaotic and alive.

Her fingers slid into my hair, tugging hard enough to hurt, and it made something sharp twist inside me. That spark — that fire — it was the same thing that drew me to her in the first place. The part of her that matched my hunger, my recklessness, my need to own the moment before it vanished.

For a second — maybe longer — I actually forgot everythi

Celeste’s POVWe stepped into a small clearing between the vines, and for a moment I forgot how to breathe. The blanket was already laid out, tucked neatly between two ancient vines twisted together like old lovers. Bowls of fruit, warm pastries, butter, and jam were arranged with careful hands—not rushed, not careless. Even the thermos of coffee was placed where sunlight struck it just right, steam unfurling into the air like a quiet invitation. It wasn’t extravagant or loud. It was intentional.“This is…” My voice thinned, emotion pulling at its edges. “It’s beautiful.”He shrugged again, rubbing the back of his neck. “It’s simple. But I thought you might like it.”“I love it,” I said before my brain could stop my mouth.Damien’s eyes softened in a way that made my stomach flip.We sat. We ate. And for the first time since we arrived yesterday, since the news of Alain, since everything, the two of us laughed together. The sound felt strange at first. Then freeing. He told me how on

  • A Ruthless Revenge: the Billionaire's Ex Wife Is Back   CHAPTER 328

Celeste’s POVThe moment my eyes opened the following morning, the first thing I saw was the vase.Alain’s vase.It sat on my bedside table, catching the soft light slipping past the curtains—earthy and uneven around the rim, the glaze slightly cracked in one spot. The tiny imperfection he’d pretended to be embarrassed about.I pushed myself up slowly, my chest tightening.“Good morning, Alain…” I whispered before I could stop myself.God.My fingers brushed the rim gently—like if I wasn’t careful, the memory of him might shatter right in front of me.“Why did you do it?” I breathed. “Why did you have to save me like that?”I waited for the tears, but none came. Just the same hollow ache expanding behind my ribs.If the body they found is really his…I closed my eyes, swallowing down the sting in my throat.“I’m sorry,” I whispered to the vase. “Sorry it had to be this way… But I hope it’s not yet too late for us to fix things. I hope you’re still out there, somewhere.”Silence wrappe

Damien’s POVI exhaled slowly through my nose. Of course everything would go to hell the moment I let myself breathe for five seconds.I didn’t even respond yet—just stared at the glowing screen until it dimmed, then buzzed again with two more messages. My father pulling strings behind my back wasn’t new—but managing to shove Levi into a position he wasn’t remotely ready for? That was a step farther than usual. And my mother causing chaos in the press again? That was the perfect cherry on top.At least Amaya had stayed quiet after what happened at the hotel. Small mercy. Or maybe she was simply planning her next move. I raked a hand through my hair.I had to go back. I didn’t have a choice. My eyes drifted again toward the garden—toward Celeste, shoulders hunched, head bowed as Harper held her close. She wasn’t crying. She wasn’t falling apart. She was surviving.Yet I hated that I wouldn’t be here when she needed someone later.Hated that returning to the U.S. felt like walking away

  • A Ruthless Revenge: the Billionaire's Ex Wife Is Back   CHAPTER 326

Damien’s POVThe shift in Celeste was instant. One moment she was smiling softly, the glow of homecoming still clinging to her like light. The next, her entire face collapsed in on itself, eyes widening, the color draining so fast it made my stomach drop.“What is it?” Harper asked quickly, stepping closer.Celeste’s lips parted, but no sound came out. She swallowed hard, forcing breath into her lungs, forcing control into hands that suddenly wouldn’t stay still.“They…” Her voice cracked. She tried again. “They found a man’s body. On the coast. It matches Alain’s description.”The room went silent.Like every laugh, every warm scent from the food, every bit of sunlight had been sucked out and replaced with cold air that scraped the lungs.Celeste stared at nothing, eyes fixed on a point past all of us, like the news had hit her so hard her mind couldn’t fully catch up.She didn’t cry. Didn’t break or fall apart. She was just there, looking shocked and hollow. Michael was the first t

Nico’s POVI had no idea what the hell was happening to me.For the past three days, I’d been waking up before my alarm.Me. The guy who used to show up to ranch work five minutes late with a hangover and a smirk. Now?I was always the first one at the stables. And I hated—hated—that the reason had a name.It was embarrassing. Infuriating. Impossible to explain. But every time she shot me one of those annoyed looks, every time she told me to tie a knot properly or stop scaring the damn horses, something inside me… switched on.Like I suddenly had something to prove. Like I wanted her to see me differently.Which was stupid. She wasn’t even nice to me. Not once. Not even accidentally. This morning was no exception.I spotted her brushing down one of the mares, braid slipping over her shoulder, sunlight catching the little wisps of hair around her face. It made my silly, stupid heart race. I sauntered over. “Morning.”She didn’t look up. “You’re early.”“Is that a compliment?”“It’s an

Genevieve’s POVThose photographs. Those years of me pinned on his walls like I was some rare specimen.I kept replaying them in my mind while he moved around the cabin, humming under his breath as if nothing were wrong. As if my entire life hadn’t just been dissected and catalogued behind a wooden panel. How in God’s name did he get those pictures? He wasn’t much older than me—twenty-eight, maybe twenty-nine. The snapshots from the orphanage had to be nearly twenty years old. Back then, access was restricted. No visitors. No outsiders. Only staff and the occasional sponsor. So how did a strange boy slip in with a camera? He couldn’t have.Someone had given him those photos. Perhaps he’d gotten hold of them later on. But who?!The thought made bile rise in my throat.I wrapped my arms around myself, staring at the uneven planks of the floor, trying to breathe without making a sound. There was a part of me—a foolish, broken part—that wanted to feel flattered. Wanted to believe the obse
