Filla, burdened by Lucy, was not moving swiftly. After several cars screeched to a halt for her, luck finally ran out.

One small car failed to stop in time, hitting her side, sending her to her knees. Heath lunged forward in two steps, grabbing the screaming child and clutching her tightly against his shoulder.

"Daddy's here, Lucy, you're safe now." Tears almost welled in his eyes.

Steve had just arrived, intending to pursue Filla, but she, enduring the pain, scrambled back to her feet, hailed a taxi, and fled the scene.

Steve shielded the father and daughter, swiftly leading them to a safe spot. Lucy clung tightly to Heath's neck, merely sobbing hard, not daring to cry out another sound. Heath held her close, stroking her back continuously.

He whispered to Steve, "Find her. Don't let her get away!" Steve understood implicitly, pulling out his phone to make calls and delegate tasks.

He then dispersed the crowd and accompanied the father and daughter back into the office building.
