Emma's Point of View

The chill of the morning dew still clung to my skin as I stepped back into my room. I didn’t expect to find anyone there, let alone Adrian, waiting in my room like some brooding storm ready to unload its fury. The sight of him froze me in place. His disheveled hair, the crease in his shirt, he looked like a man who hadn’t slept a wink.

But why would he care?

I’d spent the morning sitting by Brandon’s grave, letting my tears mix with the cool earth as I whispered my fears to the only person who had never let me down. Brandon had been my anchor, my reminder that I was worth something even when the world made me feel like I wasn’t. But now? Adrian’s actions, his easy belief in his mother’s lies, had left me adrift.

“Emma,” Adrian’s voice cut through the haze of my thoughts.

“What are you doing in my room?” I demanded, my voice sharper than I intended.

Without answering, he closed the gap between us and, before I could pull away, wrapped me in his arms. The embrace ca

  • A Second Chance With Mr Steele   Chapter 125: The Disguise of Control

Celia’s Point Of ViewLying on the couch, I wasn’t really watching the movie playing in front of me. The sound was low, my eyes were glazed over, and my mind was a mess of too many thoughts, loose ends, timelines, careful steps I’d taken to make sure everything stayed perfectly hidden. But today... something felt off. Then my phone rang.I flinched, startled, glancing at the screen. Estate Security.A tight knot formed in my stomach as I sat up. They never called unless something was wrong. I hesitated a second, then finally answered.“Hello?”“Good afternoon, ma’am,” the voice said formally. “Just to inform you… Mr. Steele is driving in now. There’s a man in the car with him.”I blinked. “A man?”“Yes, ma’am. Both just passed the outer gate.”I hung up without another word, the phone still clutched in my hand as my mind tried to catch up.Who could Adrian be bringing here without warning me first? And why the hell was Security giving me a heads-up like I was a damn mistress about to

  • A Second Chance With Mr Steele   Chapter 124: Cracks in the Lie

Adrian’s Point Of ViewWork was the last place I wanted to be.If I could I'd be home with my daughter or perhaps at the police station trying to figure out where my Emma was.I sat behind my desk staring blankly at the reports piled in front of me, but not a single word sank in. Everything was a blur. I couldn’t focus, couldn’t breathe right. It felt like my whole life was caving in piece by piece and all I could do was sit in the center of the mess and pretend I still had it under control. My fingers tremble slightly as I picked up my pen, trying to sign off on something..anything but the weight of it all pressed down on me again. I dropped the pen and leaned back in my chair, dragging both hands over my face and through my hair.“Where are you, Emma?”The words left my lips in a broken whisper, echoing in the silence of my office. My chest ached. It’s been almost four months since she's been Abducted. No messages. No ransom. No sightings. Not even a small trace, Ryan had promised t

  • A Second Chance With Mr Steele   Chapter 123: The Game Begins

Celia’s Point Of ViewI stood at the doorstep with the sweetest smile I could muster, watching Adrian as he adjusted his suit jacket before getting into his car. The morning sun bathed the front yard in a golden glow, and I tilted my head, letting it catch my face just right, the perfect picture of a caring woman seeing her man off to work. My hands eating on my little stomach, a reminder that I was carrying his seed.He paused, hand on the car door, and turned back toward me with a look I couldn’t quite read.“Have you noticed.. Has Lily been… off to you lately?” he asked, brows furrowed. “She was too quiet this morning. Didn’t even want to finish her cereal. And it's unlike her”I blinked innocently, letting my expression soften. “Oh, Adrian, she’s probably just missing her mother all over again or perhaps she's going through childhood stages. Kids get like that. I think she’s fine.” I stepped closer, brushing imaginary lint off his collar. “But if it will ease your tension I'd take

  • A Second Chance With Mr Steele   Chapter 122: A Dangerous Gamble

Adrian’s Point Of View“Lily hurry up Sweetheart” I yelled from the sitting room. Checking my wristwatch it was a few minutes past 7am. I needed to drop off Lily at school before 8am, then head to the hospital to see Celia. I couldn't rest easy all night, i’d have gone to the hospital last night but it's too risky to take lily with me last night and she couldn't stay home alone. Then I heard little footsteps dragging my attention back to the stairs as Lily descended. I quickly stood up and walked up to her, picking her off the ground to hasten the walk, I sat her in her car seat and off we sped into the road. It wasn't long until we got to her school, hurriedly I helped her into the gates and rushed back into the car and started the car. At the speed of light I hit the road, only stopping at the hospital entrance. I hurried in and asked the nurse at the station “Excuse me, could I see Celia Guerrero, she was brought in last night” I asked“Hold on please” she scrambled on her keyb

Celia’s Point of View“My plans were finally falling into place” I murmured drumming my fingers rhythmically against the steering wheel as I drive into the busy roads of New York City, a sly smile playing at my lips as I drove through the dimly Lit streets. Despite approaching evening, The city was alive and buzzing with its usual chaosblaring horns, distant sirens, the occasional flicker of neon signs cutting through the darkness. But none of it mattered. Not tonight. Tonight was about control, about setting the pieces in place for the inevitable checkmate. The anticipation bubbling inside me was almost intoxicating.I pulled into the parking lot of a small, nondescript restaurant, a hole-in-the-wall place tucked away in a forgotten part of the city. I exhaled sharply, reaching for the hoodie on the passenger seat. Pulling it over my head, I adjusted the baseball cap snugly before sliding on a pair of oversized dark shades. A quick glance in the rearview mirror confirmed that I looke

  • A Second Chance With Mr Steele   Chapter 120: The Chase

Ryan’s Point Of ViewWe have been out here for hours, it took me a whole lot getting Celia’s residential address. For some reason she had this file hidden but I always had my way around it all. The air inside the car was thick with tension, the kind that came from hours of waiting with no payoff. Marian let out a dramatic sigh, stretching her legs as much as the cramped car allowed."Ryan, we’ve been sitting here for hours, ""So?" I muttered, my eyes locked on the house we were watching."So?" she repeated, voice dripping with irritation. "I didn’t think we’d be this useless. I thought we'd have gotten closer to the truth by now so everything will be over and done with."I shot her a glare. "If you are tired, why don’t you just leave? I don't remember asking you to tag along you know.""i tagged along because I want to catch Celia too. To get this damn complication out of our lives," she huffed, arms crossing over her chest. "I just didn’t sign up for a full-day surveillance missio
