“I didn’t think I’d ever see you again,” said Roger Delaney, President of New York Solar Company.
I didn’t know how to respond to that. I just squirmed in my seat a little bit.
He sighed. “Look, you came to me, and now you’re wasting my time. What is it that you want?”
I gulped. I really wasn’t cut out for this kind of confrontation. “I... I’m pregnant,” I managed to choke out.
He rolled his eyes. “Yes, I hear celebrations are in order. Did you want me to go to your baby shower or something?”
I looked down at my feet. I was so embarrassed right now that I thought I could pass out. But I had to keep going. I had to. This was the only way that I could keep Carter and support my baby.
I looked back up at him. “I’ve also been fired from Winthrow Financial.”
He snorted. “That’s what happens when you deal with a snake like Winthrow. You end up knocked up, thrown out on your ass, and the subject of a government investigation on top of
